actualy, i believe its older than Warcraft, since i remember Seeing it while playing Starcraft before warcraft was all that popular online, so it may have originated there. Or it could simply have shown up at the same time as "Leet" on CounterStrike.

wait but didnt warcraft come out way before starcraft ever came out? but I have a feeling that it originated from some of the earlier FPS games from around the first Quake era, but what ever happened to the ever so wonderful "joomiliation" back from the earlier days of CS?

Uber is german I *THINK* for big or something...

The !!!111oneoneeleven! is because of typos. Since ! and 1 are the same key typing quickly in a team game often led to the typo of a 1 instead of a !. People began to make fun of it by doing it intentionally, even tacking a word one in there just to be rediculous.

A lot of net lingo is simply common typos. Like teh, which is a misspell of the, but kinda sounds cool and is so common among speedy typers that it has been pretty much accepted as a word.

Also note, most people I know pronounce "pwn" like "pown" to show that "own" is its origin, though I have heard people say "pwin" before. Yes, all my real life friends speak in internet slang constantly. My friend always says "w" instead of laughing now.

I have yet to firgure out what "orz" means though. I see many Japanese people end their sentences with it.

orz is a guy kneeling. o is the head, r is the arms, and z is the legs.
 
Not that we have many Thai gamers playing, but 555555 is the same thing as when the Japanese players use wwwwww = lol
 
As i told you i have a JP friend, and he says "orz" means omg in japenese.
But i havn't asked him about the kneeling, maybe ill ask him that when i see him next time.
