Did you even read what osyris said...? Your post suggests not
Yes, and it doesn't matter if he can kill something in one hit from 50% with his WS, it doesn't matter. Which is what I said. He will still be an MP sponge if he's getting hit unshadowed.

And we've said COUNTLESS times. You should not always be getting hit unshadowed. Learning to control your hate and timing your moves is one of the most essential things about being a dark knight.

I'm not saying always getting hit, but it applies to all jobs except for PLD in merit parties.

If everyone went in unshadowed, your exp would SUCK.

Thats true...but how often do you invite 4 melees that are all drks? >.> I usually drk/war when there are nins or wars there to tank

It was an example. You need to keep shadows up for the exact same reasons DRK's or any other job do in a merit party.

If you were in a party with 4 MNK's without shadows (I have, and it sucked) your exp will suck. I even went as far as call them noobs for not subbing NIN and left the party. 4 WAR's, same thing. 4 DRK's, same thing. Unshadowed melees just plain out sucked. Especially as main healer when you run out of MP after 2 or 3 skeletons because you have to spend it all on cure-spamming the melees.

Your "example" has no relevance whatsoever. Just because the drk is /war doesnt mean everyone else will be. Make smarter parties and you can still use drk/war.

It is relevant. If the DRK takes hate he will still take damage unshadowed. How is that not relevant?

In merit parties its not only about dealing as much damage as possible, its about dealing as much damage as possible while taking as little damage as possible, which is the reason melees sub NIN. I know you might love to see those 400 critical hits, but 300 critical hit and take close to no damage is good too. It might make you a sad panda that you deal slightly less damage, but it makes the mages a whole lot happier.

Wow. I quit. You are so enveloped in the "I am right" aura that you dont read, or atleast dont pay attention to anything others say about DRKs learning to NOT take hate or anything of the sort.

Forget it.

Ive seen a fre drk/whm soloing I did solo till 17 with my drk but idk how well it works after that

you didn't listen to any of my arguments either. Basically you're saying you're willing to do less damage in order to not get hate, than sub NIN and increase your damage and not having to worry about being an MP sponge? I don't get your point.

Wait, in your example was your monk cannon in KRT?

No, I'm not willing to do less damage to not get hate. I'm willing to TIME my damage to not get hate. I've managed to party in plenty of great parties on drk/war and while I did take damage, it did not affect the speed of the party at all because it was minimal.

Bottom line is this. I've used Drk/War. I've outdamaged my Drk/Nin. I've gotten GREAT xp. What more do you want?

I've seen some pretty great high level Dark Knights soloing with /RDM Sword+Sheild+Defence setup! Looks very fun!

Yes, was a long time ago. If I remember right it was a japanese party, not sure though, don't remember other then me thinking it was the worst one ever.

Then I'm sorry but you're in the wrong in that party. No monk should ever sub ninja in a KRT cannon, unless the mages are complete shit. All of the moves will wipe shadows and all but 1 is AoE so shadows don't give any benefit anyways. The only thing /ninja does in KRT is slows down kills and exp, without providing any benefits in terms of survivability or less mp-sponging. None of the attacks are particularly strong even with counterstance on.

Cannoning in the new areas is different entirely, but in KRT, /war > /nin by far.

Melee with your awesome DRK Hand to Hand obviously.

ok... Uzor i can see your point to a certain degree. but Tyraths point is one that a skilled end game drk would have on this situation. not a healer who has seen all the bad drks and few good ones. myself and tyrath are very skilled end game drks. tho i have long retired drk. a skilled drk/war wont get hit in cannon with other melees being /nin. unless the other melee are sub par. a skilled drk would control hate very easy. our slow swings/high dmg allready spreads out our enmity compared to others fast pased/med dmg. but its more then whatever you see those bad drks doing... when a drk knows how to do its job, there is no need for /NIN unless you have club or ridill. any other /nin is waste.(not counting ballista and solo situations) we have stun which has saved my life countless times. example @50% hp if i was to ws and mob does not die. i would have hate for sure and about to become what you feel is mp sponge. STUN by the time that T mob is no longer stunned he is already dead. drain.. do these drks you pt with not use drain? my drain does anywhere up to 340hp returned to me. /nin is for wars or higher parse dmg melee. if there is mnk mnk war nin as melees in pt.. WHY should drk sub nin???? is he taking hate off mnk and war?? only if he doesnt control ws activation properly. being /war in these situations will bring you closer to the enmity cap in merit where mobs would turn to you and attack you over the mnk and whatnot. but like we have said countless times by now. its how you CONTROL your drk/war.

I know its off subject but RDM as a main is awesome, i was farming in zitah with some friends and remembered how i can survive 3-4 eps and kill them all with no or little rest constantly, put me in such a good mood today.

I see someone is a Drk/sam fan on the poll, how come?

Then those MNK's must have done something wrong, as I've never had problems healing in KRT other then that party. And in every other party the MNK's have subbed NIN.
