Yes, and it doesn't matter if he can kill something in one hit from 50% with his WS, it doesn't matter. Which is what I said. He will still be an MP sponge if he's getting hit unshadowed.Tyrath said:Did you even read what osyris said...? Your post suggests not

Tyrath said:And we've said COUNTLESS times. You should not always be getting hit unshadowed. Learning to control your hate and timing your moves is one of the most essential things about being a dark knight.
Uzor said:I'm not saying always getting hit, but it applies to all jobs except for PLD in merit parties.
If everyone went in unshadowed, your exp would SUCK.
Tyrath said:Thats true...but how often do you invite 4 melees that are all drks? >.> I usually drk/war when there are nins or wars there to tank
Uzor said:It was an example. You need to keep shadows up for the exact same reasons DRK's or any other job do in a merit party.
If you were in a party with 4 MNK's without shadows (I have, and it sucked) your exp will suck. I even went as far as call them noobs for not subbing NIN and left the party. 4 WAR's, same thing. 4 DRK's, same thing. Unshadowed melees just plain out sucked. Especially as main healer when you run out of MP after 2 or 3 skeletons because you have to spend it all on cure-spamming the melees.
Tyrath said:Your "example" has no relevance whatsoever. Just because the drk is /war doesnt mean everyone else will be. Make smarter parties and you can still use drk/war.
Uzor said:It is relevant. If the DRK takes hate he will still take damage unshadowed. How is that not relevant?
In merit parties its not only about dealing as much damage as possible, its about dealing as much damage as possible while taking as little damage as possible, which is the reason melees sub NIN. I know you might love to see those 400 critical hits, but 300 critical hit and take close to no damage is good too. It might make you a sad panda that you deal slightly less damage, but it makes the mages a whole lot happier.
Tyrath said:Wow. I quit. You are so enveloped in the "I am right" aura that you dont read, or atleast dont pay attention to anything others say about DRKs learning to NOT take hate or anything of the sort.
Forget it.
Wait, in your example was your monk cannon in KRT?Uzor said:It was an example. You need to keep shadows up for the exact same reasons DRK's or any other job do in a merit party.

Uzor said:you didn't listen to any of my arguments either. Basically you're saying you're willing to do less damage in order to not get hate, than sub NIN and increase your damage and not having to worry about being an MP sponge? I don't get your point.

Then I'm sorry but you're in the wrong in that party. No monk should ever sub ninja in a KRT cannon, unless the mages are complete shit. All of the moves will wipe shadows and all but 1 is AoE so shadows don't give any benefit anyways. The only thing /ninja does in KRT is slows down kills and exp, without providing any benefits in terms of survivability or less mp-sponging. None of the attacks are particularly strong even with counterstance on.Uzor said:Yes, was a long time ago. If I remember right it was a japanese party, not sure though, don't remember other then me thinking it was the worst one ever.
Tyrath said:Bottom line is this. I've used Drk/War. I've outdamaged my Drk/Nin. I've gotten GREAT xp. What more do you want?
Cloudu said:I've seen some pretty great high level Dark Knights soloing with /RDM Sword+Sheild+Defence setup! Looks very fun!

Cannoning in the new areas is different entirely, but in KRT, /war > /nin by far.
