Quite right, however it's like unwritten law to derail a thread apperantly .. happens on EVERY flame topic i've read but w/e some people can't stand it. As far as fire and panda go, i find them amusing and somewhat knowledgeable. I'd let them derail my thread anyday.

As far as being a 30 yr old Texan playing games, well I havent been playing all that long (well maybe too long) and I was introduced to rpg's by Nasa Engineers. You'd be surprised how many people of all ages actually play games. I enjoy it, keeps me out of the bars too. If that's bad, my bad.

Two things -

For one, I never said I was perfect. I just said that the fact that I don't have an astral earring doesn't make me a bad white mage, nor does it hinder my ability to do my job.

Secondly, I thought we were talking about an astral EARRING, not astral rings.

My take on that though, is that why would a taru need 2 astral rings? thats only an extra 10 mp. thats ONE cure.

So are you talkin about astral earring, or astral rings?

And to clear that up, I have an astral ring - plan on getting another. I dodn't think that I need them though, its more of an "I want them" issue. But I think the astral earring should be up there with the vermy cloak as something that you dont NEED and is more of a side item.
 
I would just like to say I in know way am taking sides on the astral earring issue. I know very little about what types of equipment is available to a whm at what lvls. I was just trying to point out the point I think Panda was trying to make.

I take this as a question of what do I expect bare minimum in equips from a drk?

Well I look at it not by an equipment perspective. I expect at bare "minimum" 70%acc and the rest of the slots to be filled with +STR. Now is that what I prefer? No. But I can live with that. I would admit I would pretty much expect a hauby 60+ because of the amount of stats it brings to the table. But to me a piece of equipment that is equal to the type of equipment you are talking about is a sniper's ring.

I think it may or may not be a similar case. I can give up accuracy for +str or she can give up MP for +mnd or -emnity or whatever would be helpful to a whm in that earring slot. To me its more a player style thing then a good player/ bad player thing. But I will admit I know the least about whm then any other job, so it is possible that I am not putting enough emphasis on MP.

Ok, so let me put it this way then, I agree that people SHOULD have astrals, but i DONT think that they are nessecery for a taru. man, thas an extra 10 mp total. Thats one cure 1. So pretty much all this shit that you're mentioning about not running out of mp, its kind of crap, because there is a HUGE difference between 10 mp and 25 mp. 10 mp is not gonna save you to get to chain 13 dude, all this stuff that you wrote about using up all your MP.. is NOT determined by that extra 10.. oh man, forget this argument, cause now I really think you're full of crap, and we're just gonna end up flaming each other again if this goes on.. lol..

i wish you had cleared that up in the last 5 pages that we've been talking dude, goes to show that you don't even read my whole posts because i mentioned SEVERAL times astral EARRING not ring.. douche.
 
I said what I can do with MY gear not what can be done alone with 2 astral rings. They are minimum, and by level 60 they are easily affordable. Quit falling back on your taru argument, because if you think 10 MP is worthless for a taru than it's worthless for a galka too. It's the same damn MP. You'll use it because it's a resource you can rely on and you can wok with. For example staying up long as possible and getting the tank full HP so you can rest for an extended period of time taking advantage of conserve MP. The more MP you have the longer you can continue the chain by finding a spot where you can rest uninterupted and being able to keep the tank full until then and most importantly RIGHT before then. What's crap is saying that only a galka benefits from that.
 
I dont have Astral rings. I iz gimpz.
But I have MND+ rings, so as a rdm I would rather have MND+ then MP, just my opinion. And I dont understand what lvl has anything to do with how much gil you can make. Im lvl 66 and poor as hell. but so what? I have never killed a PT because of my "n00b gear" so Im not going to spend hours upon hours farming when I dont have alot of time in FFXI left. I want to get every ounce of enjoyment before I get deployed for the military. Im not going to spent my remaining time farming. Im sorry, but im just not.
 
I'll be damned, a useful conversation about jobs that's not only gone civil it rose from the ashes of childish gibberish on the flameboard, props to fire and panda ^^
