Ok, i am a returning person starting a new char. I know ive posted a few things in the past on herte about what job i should main, but i never get a straight answer so im gonna try again. Now not THAT I ALL ALL JOBS EQUAL! For the people that say "play your fav" all jobs are my fav. What i need is for people to give me a job i should main and a reason to main it. Money isnt an issue, i am willing to farm fish craft ect. for anything i need. Just name a job give me a little bit of info and maybe average LFP time and price range. And maybe some good and useful endgame uses. thx

when i was on my old server i always told peeps to play what they think is fun, so Um do that, that is why im going as RDM i love it

Level everything to 37 and main one of the new jobs, but not BLU(bluemage).

You'll have your subs ready, and can be a pioneer.

drg 4tw! you get to wear purple AF and get a wyvern to follow you around.

Red Mages and Bards will get to 75 the fastest. Black Mages are powerful damage dealers with the fast invite perks of also being a mage. Warriors and Monks are probably the most powerful damage dealers once they hit 75, but suffer slow invite rates because of the abundance of melee job competition. Rangers deal damage that's almost as good as Warrior and Monk damage, but they have to pay a fortune for each shot - Rangers are a good job for helping the economy. You might always be broke, but you'll feel good inside as you combat economic inflation and help take gil out of circulation. White Mages level about as fast as Black Mages, never need to ask for a raise post 33, and travel the world with ease due to the six teleport spells, warp and escape - a Whm is never far from where s/he needs to be. Summoners suffer for 69 levels, but are currently revered post 70. Paladins level fast because tanks are in short supply, and are a relatively inexpensive job. Ninjas level equally fast, because tanks are in short supply, but pay a small fortune in every party as they spam consumable tools to do their jobs. Dragoons and Dark Knights have the coolest looking AF, but can't usually wear it in parties. Since they spend a disproportionate amount of time LFP in Lower Jeuno though, this is no inconvenience. These two jobs look the coolest in Lower Jeuno. Beastmaster can solo all the way to 75. Thieves have the best tools to get rich farming/camping, and enough LFP time to make it worthwhile. Most other melees have to change their job to Thief to farm during LFP time. Thieves don't have that middle step - time is money. Samurais make good parties great, but a bad party is better off with a more traditional damage dealer. Most parties are bad. Samurais are thus unappreciated, which is a shame considering the perks they bring to a party.

i have that problem(too many favorite jobs) i love bst war nin rdm blm drk pld thf, and rng. i say just do what i do, level whatever you feel like leveling at any given time, its what i do now, currently leveling bst, war, and rdm >_>

But i recommend warrior! you can learn how to spell things wrong, and when you hit level 60 you can wear full stripper AF!(warrior af rocks) that and who doesnt love smashing thing to bits with axes!

oh and for the 'rangers take gil out of the economy' no, they take materials and goods(bolts arrows bullets) out of the economy, but the gil remains, it just goes to a different player, so infact rangers do more damage to the economy than good by using a lot of consumables.

I'm a big believer that anyone should play anyjob you want. But if your'e looking to be the best at what you do (which i think you are) you should also consider the race you are in your selection. I know you know all of the races and their benefits/downfall so take that into cnsideration when selecting your main. I think that Pompidou did an excellent job in explaining all of the jobs and what they can bring ito a party, so I wount explain much more. All I need to say is that you should choose a race that best fits one of the jobs that appeal to you.

Ok, thanks people. I am going to take every job to lvl 37. And then I might just mess around until Blue mage comes out. Thanks pompiduo for the detail on all the jobs.

Laff this is what I'm doing now... I'm getting shit over it but really I'm not going to force myself to 75 until I'm ready...

I guess since I'm experienced in this it's much easier to focus on one job and level it to meet your needs then playing hotswap 2-3 jobs at the same time.

lol Small?, how much are Shiei(sp) up to today i have not been to Jeuno yet:crazy:

Bah I'm bored at work. NIN cost per PT:

Let's see, post Utsusemi: Ni:

3-4 Shihei per mob (blink)
1 sairui-ran (blind), 1 Kaginawa (slow)
from 1 to 7 elementals (1x wheel), let's say 3 on average. It's very useful at some point and then you don't use it much at all, hard to average that out.

Average PT time:2 hours (low but realistic for pick-up) counting down times

Average exp/PT: 4k/hr (5 being good, 3 being low)

Average exp/mob: 150~ (including chain bonus on VT/low IT)

So in 2 hrs, that's about 55 mobs you kill, let's make it 60, that might be a slight over-estimate.

So you use:
- 240 shihei (10k/99): 25k~
- 60 Sairui-ran (13k/99); 20k~
- 60 Kaginawa (50k/99); 35k~
- 200 elementals (~18k/99 on average): 35k~
- 4 sushis (30k/12): 10k~

A (rather good) NIN in an average PT invests about 125k for a 8k exp 2hr PT

Not to mention equipment-wise, it's probably one of the most money-consuming job too.

Yeah, don't start with NIN lol

It all depends on what you want out of your game.
Do you like to keep people alive? Do you like to hurt things?
And if so, how would you like to hurt them?
Would you like to take a good ol' beating every party?
Or maybe you would like to level on your own?

I think answering these questions would narrow down your options.

As for me, I've tried most jobs out, I've got like 9 jobs at or over 37.
And I think that by then you know if you like it or not.
I like all of those jobs, except for Whm, but only warrior have I liked enough to take to 75 so far.
So like Jagster said, level everything to 37 and stick with whatever you enjoy the most.
It's not a bad thing having all sub jobs done either.

As for end-game stuff. Well, Ninjas and Paladins is always needed obviously.
And any kind of mage aswell, people will usually want a THF for TH aswell.
Rangers usually get to play along to.
Melee DD is useful in many situations, but not so useful in others.
So if you want to be included in stuff all the time, I recommend a tank job or a mage.

Just go as rdm. They're great since they can do almost everything and easier to get a pty invite with them even if you don't have a seek flag, and they're just fun to fight with.
