Well, I got invited to a pt earlier tonite and I took a quick look at the member list (only 4 people big atm) and saw a Ninja. I thought "Yay! No Warrior tanks!" Oh god. How wrong I was.

We get there to the dunes and camp at the beach. I pull a snipper to warm up....and I'm tanking. And tanking. Everyone is hitting it, including the Ninja, and finally one of the wars (we had 2 wars, a taru and a hume) finally vokes when I hit the yellow. We fight and fight and kill it and needless to say, I'm very pissed. Nothing upsets me more than a person who doesn't do their job. So I start yelling at the ninja, only to discover she's a JP player and then something hits me. Her name. It looks familar. I /check her and scream in anger. I'd seen her from last night searching for a pt....while as a Ninja/Thief. And here she was, Ninja/thief, completely useless. She wasn't a good DD and her WS sucked! I was using MY Thief and doing more damage than her! I've included some pics of this...this abomination. I've never seen anything like it til now.

And this is what happens to two WAR tanks that both get Screwdrivered....cuz the goddamn Ninja didn't tank with a war sub.

This... is from the Dunes.. In anycase, Ninja's arent very good tanks untill at least qufim. I do agree with you tho, It is kinda dumb for any job to sub thf before 30 ;/
 
Its the dunes lol what do you expect?

Just yesterday I herd a story about a whm in the dunes that used AGI+2 rings .... cause he would get hit less :omg:

I would argue that war/mnk is a great tank up to lvl 30. 1 war/mnk is definitely better than 1 ninja at those lvls.
 
Imho, any melee job can tank with a war sub before level 30. I've tanked on War, Sam, Nin, Thf and Mnk thru Kazham. I don't think someone who doesn't know what they're doin' could, but an experienced player can.

Hell, we were doin' avatars one time and Chunny even tanked Ifrit (I think it was Ifrit anyway) with us healing him. He did a great job also, btw.
 
Oops sorry. For those of you who don't know who Chun is, he's a Monk^^.
 
Psh, I tanked Valkurm as a THIEF until 15. :P But yeah, tanking in the dunes is sort of a bastard offspring of whatever job is available and can theoretically do it.

On a second note, 2 WARs dropping to Screwdriver? You needed a Galka. :D

Ahhhh, for a minute there I thought you were talking about me and my gimpness. Afterall, I'm a lvl 20 Ninja with no Utisummi (damn, I don't normally spell it, I use auto-translate). Some day, I will finish that quest for Uti, and then I will do Ninja again... maybe.

Are you talking about me? cause there are MANY Myrr's ingame and its hard to tell. my thinking is slowing down with out FFXI ; ;

correction.. Ninja tanks suck until prolly 37 compared to a WAR/MNK! (same with a PLD tank.. they aren't as good as a WAR/MNK with holding hate until 37)
 
i remember when i was once lvling rng for fun in the dunes, I pulled, and brought it to camp, and the bastard noobs in the dunes never voked, i was pretty much the tank, and i died twice, good thing my hp wasn't in jeuno, or i would have been pissed lol
 
Myrr is part of Keitaro and a member of their static group.
