No, really, it doesn't.
The FB has been slipping recently. Badly. What was at one point a fun board is devolving into one giant bitch about gil sellers and other random stupid topics. While lecturing some of you about posting is going to be wasted breath, I do see some improvement possible. Let's go over the points.
A good thread has:
- Effort put into the first post.
- Topics not currently being discussed in another thread or all the time
- Timely posting, i.e not creating 5 threads at once when 1 would encompass all of them
- Effort put into replies to the topic
A bad thread has:
- No effort put into the first post
- Overused, rehashed topics
- Spammish/unnecessary/Postcount +1 replies
- Doesn't belong on the FB, or anywhere for that reason.
There's no reason for people to keep spamming up garbage topics. Yes, the Flameboard is conductive to replies, but when a thread gets derailed on the first page and just turns into postcount +1ery, we have problems. This isn't Allakhazam or IGN or any other kiddie forum where your postcount is your internet penis. Please stop creating dumb topics and making this forum look stupider. Remember, we're a 'community site' now. Show other people our good side, and not 20 seperate "OMG FUX TEH GIL SELARZ" crap. If you want to bitch up a storm about that, go to Alla, they love to whine there.
I think this forum also needs better moderation. Not so much someone who is going to silence good discussion/flaming - but someone who can trim the fat. Too many people treat the forum as their personal soapbox to single out specific people they hate, regardless of justification. Moderation is lax on the board in general, and especially on the FB. It's not always a bad thing to give people time-outs from posting. It's one thing to use the freedom of the Flameboard to call someone a stupid fuck, but when you take it out of that one specific thread and use your posting ability to screw with them all over the board, that's over the line, imo.
