Whats with all the gimps lately?

I see it now. I'll just group you into the "everyone should have everything" crowd that so many of the people on this board fall into. Guess what though, not everyone cares about the same thing you do. I know I don't care about other peoples gear because you know what, short of me getting it for them, what does it matter to me what other people have? Actually I blame the same people that bitch about gear for the reason that the Leaping boots and Emp pin and archer ring drops are now R/EX. People bitched and bitched about not being able to get it. Now guess what you still can't get it and even if you do what is it worth? Nothing. Get out of here with the gimp rants. If it wasn't for people like you then the game wouldn't be the way it is today.

Yeah, people wouldn't be getting screaming fast exp today in ways that people "back in the day" would never have dreamed of.

Guess What? You can still get leaping boots and Ve pin by Killing the monster it DROPS FROM. Thats how many people used to get them and thats how I got them. Noone expects people to have items like leapng boots and Emp pin until the person can solo the Nm. Getting to 60+ takes a while to do So Anyone who doesnt have the easiest items to get by simply taking a day or two to get them instead of bumrushing to 75 is just being lazy.
And worthless? Leaping boots/emp pin last until lv 73 before theres even a better alternative outside of Marine boots for humes and marine boots arent considered essential geear or easy to get.

Oh and shai.. Sorry about vhazl. I used to farm the chests there and once people noticed I made a few mil there all the jp thf and gilsellers flooded into that area so it's hard to find a chest there now.

Edit: I also never bitched about drops being overcamped and asked for them to be rare/ex. I went 3/10 on stroper chyme once while with lsmates. Pwned gilsellers solo in claims as a thf/nin using steal and had fun pissing them off like that. I would have to be at least half the idiot you are to have wanted archers to be rare ex

Yeah that's all it takes huh. A day or two to get Bounding boots and Empress pin. If you are lucky, or have a THF to 45 for TH 2. GUESS WHAT THOUGH you can't synth the bounding boots to winged boots, and the empress pin is R/EX which means you can't sell it when your done with it. BB and EP are still not the easiest things to get. They are both still camped pretty much 24/7 and the drop is not 100%. A day or two he says. Whatever.

Actually I could think of a few that might be better now depending on what job you are.

And they no longer drop Astrals so...

3/10 wow you sir are a master. I wish that I could camp something 10 times.

I hate to argue when combatting an unarmed foe BUT!

I agree with this a little.. except read good times when you get a chance.. walked in to Valkurm, killed a few PH.. VE Pop! claim, kill, Drop.. go to N.Gusta to kill time... kill 2 PH.. LL! oh crap, Brd has claim.. LOL Brd is level 7! little bit of work after he dies and we magic off the CFH... guess what? 1/1 LL.
1/1 VE, 1/1 LL within 1 hour.. hmm tough drop rate

3/10 wow you sir are a master. I wish that I could camp something 10 times.

I WISH I could go 3/10 on a NORMAL NM! I'd be ecstatic! Now consider Stroper's pop like a regular mob and theres 3 in the zone at any time so you could kill all 10 within 2 hours? Oh tough camp..

sorry.

I was being sarcastic..plus the way they spawn now is not the way it used to be. Hell I go through there now and chimes just run up to you wanting to be hit by anything. Yeah someone claiming 3/10 on Stroper Chime as an acclomplishment is hardly a camper to worry about.

Skillz > equip.

So umm, when a melee performs a weapon skill, it's the skill in which he presses the macro button that determines the size of the damage number, and not his equipment? And when a paladin takes a hit, it's his skill that determines how much damage he takes, and not his armor? FFXI is little more than a calculator with a fancy GUI. It's all number crunching. Anyone can press numbers on a keyboard. 90% of battles are routine and repetitive. It's not skill making my magic burst bigger or smaller than someone elses' it's equipment. There's little to no skill in XI.

Well you could call it skill when you put together a SC that takes the current days element into effect, instead of Distortion WS please. so I would say that it's 85% routine, unless you don't understand how the game calculates things.

LOLz... 1 day or 2... you are funny.. really
not everyone is that lucky
it took me a whole week to get a drop from LL with my mule.. and I camped him like 8h a day (not every day but often)

and.. you can't compare mage w/o Dark Staff and SAM w/o Hauby... look at the price of a dark staff and then at the price of a hauby

there are ppl who don't have time 24/7 to go farming
All these equipment like hauby, SH, nobles etc are nice... of course.. but I think its stupid to call ppl gimped when they don't have it
you can'T forbid ppl not to exp till they get these items

Stop spreading those stupid rumors. This game doesn't require skill, just a basic understanding of the system and a lot of time. Anyone who argues this will not even get a response from me as I know I am 100% right.

There is 'skill' in this game.. but as far as I see it 'skill' is pretty much equal to having some brains and knowing what the hell you're doing, and how to time stuff right. You'd be amazed at how some people just dont 'get it'.

As far as gear goes, yeah it helps to have nice gear. Makes it to where if you know what your doing, you do it that much better. It won't make you better simply because you have it though. Example.. a person buys someones 'uber' character, but they have no idea really how to use the abilities properly even though they're decked out in the 'leet gearz' they can't funtion as thier role in a party effectively or quite possibly at all despite how kick ass thier gear might be. A lot of good that gear is doing on that person then, eh?

I'm leveling my Pld and its in such a range where Freeze MB parties are really nice. Problem im finding is a lot of Blms don't seem to know how to make thier Freeze macro's .. so we have to try and spend a few minutes explaining how to do it and hope they understand. Sometimes they get it, and everything works out.. othertimes.. like last night for example.. we fought about 5 crabs before he sorta got the timing right.. it could have been better but freeze ended up catching the last few seconds of the skillchain and making a MB.. ofcourse soon after that.. he d/cs and doesnt come back. Yeah.. it was fantastic! *sarcasm*

winnar.

I was using thf as an example when I was mentioning how long leaping boots can last. It was late at night i forgot to put down the fact that i was mentioning thf so yea they do last until level 73. As for on other jobs that are melee they can wear boots until the 50s generally although there are good alternatives at lv 25 and 34 not counting rse gear which is another thing people are too lazy to get.

I also said getting the chest was hard not impossible. Gilsellers use chest hunting as something to do while waiting for CC to pop and the Jp thf that camp pick chest go to sleep when it's not jp time. (wowo what a revelation jp actually sleep eventually)

I said i got 3/10 on a day I didnt say I only camped stroper chyme 10 times.

Wow you are the Master I wish I could act like a retard like that.

I been seeing this a lot too recently. Gear in general shows your dedication to the game and that you are willing to work hard and over come obsticals to reach the pinacle of your preformance; and anythign less would be sub-par. Shitty gear and excuses shows to me that you are lazy, don't give a shit about yourself or your group, and when I am piecing together a static group, I will likely pass you up for somone much better. You are replacable.

The thing that really irritates me, is that these people make my job look like a joke. Seeing a thief using AF1 vest in an exp party makes me wretch. When they are hitting for 0's and barely hitting at that... It wouldn't be a problem if the Elite weren't the minority. But they are.. these gimps go out, and barely preform thier job function. Where one might say at this point "It's the player, not the gear." well, that's kinda true. But the gear is an advertisement for the kind of player in it. And 10 times out of 10, when I see a gimply equiped person, they play like a god damned gimp too.

If you are a Grand melee job, I.E. War, Drk, or Sam, and you don't have a Haub by 60, you're being a dipshit. Any excuses you come up with as to why you can't stop for a couple days, grab some buddies, goof off and hunt something, mine, harvest, log, farm, etc... is utter and complete bullshit.

Any other job past 60 w/out apropriate gear is pretty much the same thing. Most of your key gear will last you the final 15 levels of play in said job, which coincidentally is almost HALF the Exp you will ever earn, and then there's merits... So when you look at it as an investment Gil/Exp unit, or even Gil/hour, it's actually really cheap.

You're competing with other gimps. If you give yourself the edge, you willl not be sitting, seeking in lower jeuno all day like a dweeb. Nor will you be out in the field making other hard working peoples' jobs look like jokes, when somone does get desparate enough to invite your gimp ass.

Money and gear aren't hard to get. You're just too lazy and weak to get it.

I would have to disagree. While there is a degree of gimps Ie using thf af body. I do not beilve that not having a SH or a harby would be. This stigma is brought up because this is how you make your money, by selling harbys. Harby and SH is like having a nobles it helps alot, but is not needed. I do on other hand beilve you right, your armor does so your detication. Though with all the gil buyer out there even that dont mean much anymore. I say praise though that have these nice armor, but dont shun someone just because they dont have a 8 mil item.

i think if someone dont work to bring the best they can to their character, I dont think they are gonna work as hard to bring their best to a group.
I personally bust my ass to get the gil i need to buy the best i can for my chars, and currently i have 4 jobs with top choice gear for their levels. all from hard work.
Its not that hard to go out and farm/craft some stuff for gil. It makes you feel that much better about what you own too.

Hmm, I don't agree with your opionion there, there are alternitives set out in the game for people to use who maybe don't wanna bust there ass all day and have a limited amount of time to spend on the game but would like to progress through it at a decent rate, perhaps view the story and quests. I don't think it's fair to say that if you don't have the best possible equipment that you're not trying your best in your party/group. Since, I've not had good gear before, didn't have a haubergeon as soon as I hit 59, didn't mean I wasnt trying my hardest for my groups and partys. It can make you feel better but isnt 100% nesercerry to have all this if you simply lack the Gil, or don't have time on the game to be farming and crafting and want to still play when you can and try to advance. I'm not having a dig at you for your comment on it, just stating why I don't agree with what you said there.^^

Some people cant spend 5hrs a day farming and 1hr a day exping to keep up with gear etc
If a jobs in AF dont diss it just means they like the af or they can not afford better
AF was made for a job and that job only so it has alot of benifts each peice (well maybe not drk af body) but all af is good just because some one is useing say rune weapons not ENM weapons so what?

im a lvl 70 smn without a Vermillion cloak and diabolos. does that make me gimp too?

skill > gear. i read a quote somewhere, cant remember where: "Good gear doesnt make bad players good, it makes good players better."

the party i hit 70 in was with a galka nin that was still waering his full AF. and for WS's he macroed in the lvl 55 royal knights armor, i think he wore the muflers but im not sure. an elietest wouid have automaticly started raggin on the nin for not having a SH for tanking and a hauby or byrni (sp) for macroing in for WS's like my friend kile does when he tanks. we'll guess what? i'd party with that nin any day of the week and twice on sunday. he was great. he kept his shadows up, held hate very well, and allowed me to MB the SC's and buff the party like only a nin tank can. yes having the before mentioned items would have made him much better, but not having them in no way shape or form made him gimp imo.

PS: found out l8r in that party he was a high lvl bard, he put a O-hat on when he dinged 70. :P

3/10 on chyme is pretty good. Even with a thf with TH2 my record is only like 5/400+

I've partied with nin without SH before and I can say that a nin who knows thier stuff is a very good tank mostly due to the inherent difficulty in being a good tank as a nin.

A person is gimp when they dont have gear that any party at thier level can reasonably expect them to have. Diablos means you have to get past promy and various other missions that are extremely difficult to some and to top it off he's a sonuva to beat. A smn not having diablos is perfectly reasonable as is a smn without vermy cloak. Getting 1mp less a tic isn't going to hurt your performance as a smn. You would have to be a galka smn to even have so little mp that the extra tic would matter and even then I have a feeling that by 70 there would easily be enough mp to never run out for a smn esp since past 41 you can get refreshed and past lv 56 a bard can double ballad you.

Thf dont need SH since due to sushi being implimented any decent thf can hit 85-95% acc with proper gear. The most benefit a thf gets from SH is the +5 str from wearing str rings instead of snipers or the +12 attack they would get from wearing a swordbelt+1 .(not counting the +3 str from a cote which helps increase the damage cap) Even then this argument goes out the window the second a thf hits 67 and can wear an AJ, takes off a sniper for a str ring and gets +18 atk to boot. Don't get me wrong SH is nice but it's not as godly as people make it out to be for thf since sushi came out. A thf not having a SH doesnt make a huge difference when they can already hit 85-95% of the time without it.

NOw a hauby onthe other hand.... Higher delay weapons mean that any time you miss your acc% and DOT shoots downward> It has what +5 str +5dex +10 acc +10 atk as its benefits. The benefits from this one peice of armour is huge. It's as if SH had at least +20acc +20 eva built right in. Tha would be the equivalent of what hauby can do. You get an attack boost +10 acc which is really +12.5 acc from the extra dex,a higher damage cap from the stg, a higher chance or reaching the damage cap from the atk, and you can swap a snipers for a str ring which can give you+10 more str than before you had a hauby. It just that good. The benefits are huge on hauby as compared to any other peice of gear people are referencing. Also at 60 melee have access to bcnm 60 fight and they generally have drops that are the same price or half the price of a hauby at current AH prices. By level 60 you should have racked up at 200-300+ seals from leveling subs so theres plenty of chances to try and go for one.
