When do you think the Beta will start?

When the time for the official FFXIV release comes, you think you'll end up going with whatever is the "unofficial FFXIV beta player" server, or whatever ends up being the Quetzalcoatl server?

Anyway, I'm sure SE's going to try to implement something to smooth out the population distribution again, like Worldpasses. Here's hoping the Beta test players will give us a heads up about where they'll be heading when the time comes.

I'd be very interested to hear about/from some of those original NA beta players for XI. When the game first officially released for the PS2, I thi nk I asked most people I met back then, "Were you in the beta?" but never found anyone I knew. Maybe some familiar folks ended up on Midgardsormr; if so, and those folks are coming to Quetz, that'd be kinda cool to reminisce.
 
So, the official open date for the beta is April 1st. Release date seem to be in December, that leaves 8 months for beta testing.

According to the people in the beta, its on the beta website when you log in. As for the release date, most stores seem to have set a release date for December. That doesn't mean the release date is in December though, as it can be a date they set to start preorders. But it does seem likely to have it released in December.
 
The closed Alpha test for those who have been selected has started today.
Also said is that the first beta stages will also be closed, April first is only 20 days away,
which is a very short time to test things out and remove any bugs before they decide to open up for the general public.

I'll check that out when I log in tonight.
It may be a mistranslation, I can see the beta going live on April the first, but not going open.

No, the closed Alpha didn't start today. The website started today, and client downloads will begin "shortly".

And sorry, I meant the alpha will start on April 1st, I get confused with FFXIV stating its beta everywhere but in the "alpha recruitment"... And according to the Japanese forums, it will only be 2 hours/day between 5PM JMT-7PM JMT (so I assume it will be different times for NA/EU people)

from what I've found... there is no official start date for the ALPHA/BETA at all yet.

1st April has been mentioned for the ALPHA start date around the interwebs but the only source is someone saying "it's on the JP BETA forum"
 
plenty of time to upgrade my system (or get a PS3) by the sounds of things anyway...

I haven't logged into the site yet as I am still at work.
So as you mentioned open beta I got confused.
 
I didn't say Open Beta, I said Beta :P
 
I'm gonna be pissed as HELL if the alpha test doesnt start till April 1st, but that seems highly unlikely. And FYI the beta site says nothing about when it will be starting.

1st of April... really? if they would of said the 2nd I would of believed them lol
