maybe its just me or maybe its post 60 karma but ever since i broke 60 i can count on one hand the amount of fun parties i've had. im not losing interest in the game its just lately it rains in the desert more then i find fun in an exp party.

anyone else find this to be true for them?

i kinda know what you mean.

for me its because, unlike at the lower leves, you can't expect to level-up everytime you go out to exp. for my short-time PTs all i can hope to do is put a small dent in the 30,000 exp needed to get that next level.

it doesn't feel like you're really advancing your character, it feels more like a chore.

remember the lower levels when you brought equipment 1, 2 or even 3 levels above your current because you knew there was a good chance you'd be using it that same exp session?

I'm not post 60, but I'm getting closer. I have found that people take partying much more seriously then they used to, and it also seems that more and more people are Xp'ing because they feel they have to, like it's all the game is good for. I've been playing for about a year now, and all I've mustered up is a whopping level 55 job (almost 56 ^^) and just one other job over level 35. I play pretty often, I just make sure I'm having fun while I'm playing.

Many players seem to have the idea that if their character isn't gaining something from what they are doing in game at that exact moment, they are wasting time. Like SE is gonna shut down all the servers tomorrow or something. You can find me many a night doing seemingly worthless things, like taking a boat ride on the ferry to Mhuara, or walking (that's right... walking) through Jugner forest waving to people and chatting with my LS. I enjoy doing those things. I enjoy beating up Demons in Xarcabard, and they don't drop things that are worth anything. I enjoy hanging out with a LS mate that may be 40 levels lower than me, and doing nothing but running around a hill in the Saruta killing stuff.

A lot of people seem to have lost the point of playing this game. You've got a very realistic environment to just go free in and do what you want... why do something you really don't want to do? If you're going to go XP'ing... please make sure thats what you really want to do. Not only are you hurting yourself by not following this rule, but your also going to be doing your party mates a disservice by not being "into it".

If your not having fun... do as many others do and take a break. :o And we'll be waiting for you to come back and the fun will return.

i agree with you on all counts Excim. i've been thinking about taking a huge break from exping and doing other things instead. i, to, have only 1 job over 35 and its only there cause i lvl it with my GF only. soon as the damn teleport-altep scroll selld in can get crafting again :P

Well all the parites u had with me after 60 were fun weren't they hehe

Btw i'm still waiting for my account to be active again...

Also when one rdm takes a break... 500 wars have to take a break also.. lmao u know why

Well I try making all my parties fun. I am one of those people that need to talk during the pt, and can't just constantly grind out experience points. I'm the type of person that after a chain 4 in Bibiki Bay, I say "Hey, wanna kill a dhamel?" The xp usually comes 175+ per mob, but I like things to stay challenging, like actually killing a dhamel for a chain 5 to get 300+ xp. I'm the type of person that when the puller says "They are too close, they might link," I say to the rdm or blm ... "how's you sleep spell working these days?" Sometimes leveling can be boring, but I know most of us want a level 75 job to feel complete. But there are ways to make it fun. Just by conversing with the people in your party, or pulling links on purpose, or going for that IT++ mob on a chain 5. Things like that still keep me going. Just ask the people I party with how stupid I can get sometimes. Hell, I still remember the party with Vang that we had in Cape Terrigan. We were ruining mobs, but that didn't stop us from having fun. Hell, at one point the JP thief got tired of pulling, so I, the dragoon busted out my sick pulling skills and kept the xp flowing lol

It's the little things that make this game fun. :D

right now....i can't really relate...im only at 33 b/c of stupid college... :x But as of this moment im sick of camping nm's and farming lol. Which in fact is bad b/c im NIN/WAR XD
So in fact...i miss partying

Aww, WSM is a cutie when hes not pissed off :)

I proclaim him board mascot! Now to find him a little ribbon to wear *goesofftosearch*

I'm having a hard time with this game and leveling too. Not because it isn't fun - I enjoy my job as a whm and I level with my IRL fiancee all the time so I have someone sitting next to me to do shots with every time we hit chain 3.. but my problem really has been lying in the crappy jobs that people have been doing at their job, and the inability of anyone in the pt to speak up when I ask opinions or if things are going bad to suggest another leveling spot or what have you.

I did get one really great pt over teh weekend that was promptly ruined by an MPK team, and then I ended up dying six times.

My problem, above all this, is that I just took an almost three month break from leveling my main to do other things like promethia and level lower jobs like blm and drg, so yes, I am at the point where I feel like leveling is a chore. I'm sure if I actually GOT a good pt once in a great while I might feel different. I recently started talking to my partner in crime about starting a static.. so I think thats what we're going to end up doing.

I don't ever expect to level up each time I go out, and I'm level 52. Yes, its possible, but I don't ever hold people up to that expectation that they're going to rock the hell out of mobs. I DONT expect, however, to go negative xp.

it only gets worse.. for example.. level 73 when there are less and less incredibly toughs... and you are happy to see 150 exp per kill x.x needing 43,000 exp and getting a mere 90-150exp per kill takes forever to level up x.x

which is why i wanted a static. a group of people that we can go out and have fun with and lvl at the same time. to me thats the point of making one. isnt it.

and like our dragoon friend earlier mentioned, i like to convers during exping as well. it lightens the atmosphere and everyone has a good time. its not the exp amount that matters to me. its the process of gainig them. if we chain our asses off but no a person is saying a peep save for that they have to BRB or their macros i wanna scream. its like playing with automated robots. drives me nutz and makes me bored as hell.

Join a party with Vang and Onions, and you will be doing Chain 5 shots. :P

....

Like every 10 mins.... you wont make it past 1 hour cuz that bottle of tequilla will be gone. :D

I'm still not used to 15,000+ EXP for a lvl up. All through my lower(1-50) levels, when I needed under 10,000 EXP to level, I could just EXP for 2-2.5 hours a day, and still get a level. That's fine. Now that I need to get a average 10-15,000 EXP just to get a average weekly lvl up. I can't stay interested in EXPing for more than about 3 hours, after that I just become bored, and eventually I'll find a replacement and leave(I WILL NOT LEAVE WITHOUT REPLACEMENT, DON'T BASH ME).

I actually enjoyed exping a lot more after 60 because more and more of the parties actually functioned well, and so exp/hour was usually better.

One thing you should remember. There's 924 350 experience points to L75. L63 is about half way, and the progress you're making is really how much experience you are getting, not how many levels you're getting. At higher levels it will take 4-6 good parties for just one level, but you're still getting exp at the same rate, (or hopefully a lot better rate...) than you were at 30...

I've calculated. I'm getting more exp/hr at 45 WAR than at 69 PLD, as PLD I average 3.5K exp/hr, whereas on WAR I average a stunning 6.4K exp/hr.

I always thought I had alot of fun in the lower lvl parties. As far as xp goes, I've had exceptional parties and I've had ok parties, but the fun ones usually were in the lower lvls.

Higher lvl parties seem to much like a "job" and not as much fun as they used to be. Doesn't matter much how much xp you get cuz after pushing 5 thousand xp per hour it pretty much is all the same, you can't get much higher and the excitement is really not there, because you know your pretty much at about the best it can get.

Well first off, I know I like to bust PLD's balls all the time in fun. But when it comes right down to it and from what I have seen Ninja tanks = Faster xp. This is the truth for the most part, so for the love of god Paladins please don't come in here and start a 5 page argument about it. I respect what you do and know you have a tough job, but good Ninjas > good Plds when it comes to fast xp.

THE CATCH (also known as my attempt at calming down the already pissed off PLDs who have read this far)

The problem with that is finding a good one, you can throw any old PLD into a party and he can do ok. Ninja this is not so, you have got to have a skilled, well equipped blink tank or XP will suck regardless. A PLD is almost a safe sure fire bet, you can throw just about any party set up and a rdm in with them and get decent xp. Ninjas can be a bit more high maintenance. If you don't want to take the time to pick members carefully and you don't mind settling for any old party set up then don't expect godly XP.

I am at the level range where I don't want to be, I can see about 3 or 4 Ninja tanks who I have heard are all good and I know their equips are very comparable to mine. Zealottx, Kirayamoto, Unphazed etc. I know I have some very tough competition and all the people in the 63-67 range should feel blessed they have so many good blink tanks to pick from.

Be Picky! I put in my search comment when I am LFG a VERY serious message "Party Short Time = X No! Do not waste my time." Since I have hit 60 I can count maybe 3 parties if that where I got less than 10k xp in that session. Almost all of my parties average at least 4.5 -6k an hour in your average set up. I also am very uncomfortable in being a replacement because 90% of the time you get fucked over hard.

I will not be a happy camper if I end up with 5k xp and someone is wanting to go...

I was so intimidated at 61, but the levels have flew by so fast it's ridiculous. Just try to shoot for at least 10k xp a party and hope for more.

Don't be afraid to boot someone. I have, will , and still do boot people who do not contribute to me attaining sufficient xp. People that love to go AFK every other chain, BLM who like to rest MP for an hour on end and leech xp before someone notices they were gone the whole time, people who don't take criticism, etc. I tell you the next time I see this reply from some god damn idiot I'm gonna lose it :

Vang: That's like your 4th MB in a row you missed man what's the deal?

Random idiot : .......

If you want to piss me off, reply with "....." and you can expect to be booted immediately. I don't have time for smartass people who want to argue or be conflictive or beat around the bush, take a shit or get off the pot, but don't dick me around with half ass responses like "....." or "?????" like i'm a clown or something. Answer the damn question and stop trying to be such a fucking cute guy all the time.

I hate to level so I do not have time for the nonsense when we are all out at camp. That's what laggy Jeuno is for, to chit chat like the god damn Babysitter's club, camp is for xp so let's keep the party chat about the new Ricky Martin CD to a bare minimum mmmk?

Now don't get me wrong i like to joke here and there, but joking or not, I will remind everyone to chill on the convo and get in gear or to pick it up if we are slacking. That's just how I am, I know what works, what set ups work, and can promise 95% of the parties I am in 5-6k an hour granted everyone just pay attention and do their job. If not, fuck ya, goodbye, you're probably a melee anyhow, easily replaced.

If you don't have a leader you will never have control or good xp. I don't believe in being a bossy asshole, I believe in being effective.

Ditto, what Vang said.

However I have to contribute to that.

I DIDN'T SPEND 1/2 A MONTH SKILLING MY GREATSWORD TO DO A DISTORTION SKILLCHAIN AT LEVEL 66.

WHEELING THRUST/
MISTRAL AXE/
ARCHING ARROW/
HEAVY SHOT---->SPINNING SLASH/SHARK BITE >over> EVERYTHING

After 65 gruelling levels of hanging onto those ugly scythes...At 66 I was finally able to have Great Sword as my main weapon.

Or so I thought.

Goddamn gimps. I'm sorry Samurai's, you're not gimp....you're just....special.....yeah. SE made you that way, my apologies for no longer partying with you until lv71 -> Tachi: Kasha.

I've run into a few people that think level 3 skillchains aren't really needed in a party. I now refuse to party with anyone that refuses or hasn't skilled their weapon to level 225, or Samurai's.

Samurai's: You guys go fucked over big time. No level 3 skillchains till 71. Tachi: Gekko is alright and can do 'ok' damage, but Distortion or Fragmentation just can't multiply a skillchains damage to 1000+.

I won't use names, but I ran into an interesting Warrior the other day. A Warrior/Monk at level 66. I was really quite amazed....this person refused to level ninja as a subjob or use their Axe for Mistral Axe. If I ever run into a person like the previous describes, I'll be kicking or disbanding.

The reason why lv66+ should have Light renkai...is quite simple.

XXXX uses Heavy Shot.
The Hobgoblin Alastor takes ~600 points of damage.
Dowzer uses Spinning Slash.
The Hobgoblin Alastor takes ~1,000 points of damage.
Light: The Hobgoblin Alastor takes 500~1,000 points of damage.
XXX casts Thunder III. (BLM)
Magic Burst! The Hobgoblin Alastor takes 500~800 points of damage.
XXX casts Aero II. (RDM)
Magic Burst! The Hobgoblin Alastor takes 200~300 points of damage.
Dowzer starts casting Stun.
Dowzer casts Stun.
Magic Burst! The Hobgoblin Alastor is Stunned.

So yeah. 3,000+ total damage skillchain. [ Yes, please. ]

Invite me to a party with no Light Skillchain = [Goodbye!]
