When to get the next best armor.

Is this thread for real? Buy everything within reason the moment you can equip it, if not sooner. I'll make allowences for luxery items exceeding the million gil marker, but skipping Bone +1, cmon! Its less than 100k, get your ass to farming.

Ok Bone +1 is level 16 gear...i.e. not nessesary... same with beetle +1... if you spend more than 5 hour is qufim then you are A. slow or B. unlucky.
level 25 is when you start spending the money for NIN and it is much better spent money than at 21 for Beetle +1 gear. I'm sorry but out of all the gear that you could possibly get, level 32-34 is about the best place to start spending big money on gear. If it costs more than 100k below 25 then it is not worth it to have. Now I have Bone and Beetle +1 gear but I only got that after I already had a 50 WHM and money to spend. Plus I got it when it was 100k to get bone +1 and beetle +1. At today's prices though I would have neither set. It makes me laugh every time I look at the price of a Kingdom Bandana knowing I got mine for 20k and now it's what 300k. Yeah good gear below level 25 is not worth it. Well astral rings are still good, that's about it.

hell astrals are crap past 40 even. at lvl 40 you get ethers and electrums all of which are cheaper then an astral
 
Doesn't matter how long you are gonna use it, cuz you're just gonna sell it back. If displacing 100k is too much for you, then NIN is a bad choice to be leveling.

Well I was talking about below 40, but I agree. I like my 10k Electrums better than Astrals.

Ok I can understand that, but I have 10 mules so normally when I buy gear I get it for keeps. My brother laughs at me all the time for how much "crap" I have but hey you never know when you are going to need it right. What is today's NIN armor could be tomarrows SAM armor and vise versa. Truthfully though the way I have my toon set up, I only need to camp R/EX gear now for my jobs. I need 34 R/EX pieces for all the jobs that I am leveling and I already have 20. With 10 mules on 3 accounts I have a shiton of places to put gear that isn't needed atm, but if I need to do a level cap or BCNM then I just log in a mule and go to Bastok Mines and get it. So to me it's never displacing, it's buying.
 
Im not saying that I can't deal out 100k, im just trying to find ways to make armor stretch as far as it can so that rather than waste money on gear Ill use for 5 hours or less, I can save it for the better stuff later on.

Really, I'm more about saving time (not having to farm) than saving the money. If I can save money, bear gear a few levels lower and be able to afford some better stuff later, without having to break from leveling to farm, then that's what I'm going to do.

i dont agree with this because.. you dont sell everything back..

as a ninja there are key pieces of gear you are going to keep forever or have the potential to keep forever..

-emp pin or empress pin - 24 to 70
-survival belt - 38 to 72
-dodge earrings - 29 to 60
-spirit torque 39 - 65
-Fuma/leaping boots - 38 to 72 for fuma
-night cape/nomads - 24 to 61'ish
-level 14 rings, level 36 rings, level 54 rings - till 72 ish
-snipers/woodmans/venerer - 40 - 74 is

i guess you never have done level capped missions or level'd more than one job.......just make smart purchases and im sure you can make things go a long way... i dont think a player who dosent have top notch gear for their level is 'gimp', but as long as they have some key pieces... they should do fine..

I agree with this.. but I always saw myself as gimp if my gear in every slot wasn't top notch....

I do not expect others to hold themselves to the same accord that I hold for myself. If I did... I would never get any xp... unless I was on my whm.. then I'd be in one a pt made of Deci, Matti, Jamal, Johnnyb, Crosis, and me... that would be one hella pt :D

I try to have good gear for all my jobs, as long as the price is within reason. If I buy an expensive item, it's based on it's lasting power. I'm not going to spend 1mil on something I'm only going to use for 1 or 2 levels. But, if there isn't going to be something worth buying for 5 levels or so, I'll buy something expensive.

I do like to have good gear, and I'll try to have the best post Lv40 I'd say, when it really starts to make a difference.
