Erase is way overpriced, yes. useful, yes. I'd rather have a whm with astral rings or something instead of erase however =/

another thing you might not have noticed... STR down, ya it starts at like -10 STR... but it doesn't stay that way for long... it slowly decreases till it wears off... same with the other stat down effects...

What Naly said. I haven't farmed for gil in like... 3-4 months? Try doing something other than farming, or try farming some much lower level mobs. If you want to farm, don't forget to level thf to 15 and to level your weapon up.

I was talking mainly about spiders. And there's still other reasons why to have haste.

Blinda has a purpose
Curaga has a purpose
etc has a purpose

People can argue all day that Erase isn't worth 300k. Then toss all your other spells away too. I guess Blindness really isn't worth getting rid of.. I mean its only there for 75% of the fight. A DD that can't hit shit is still a DD right? Many little things add up to a lot.

STR down shaves 30-40 damage off my attacks. I normally do 140. Considering over 10 attacks, thats 400 damage lost. Not to mention, the damage loss on WS and Barrage is even greater. Please tell me that Erase isn't worth it?? {lie} That is 3 attacks worth of damage, or about 15 seconds off the mobs life. 15 seconds is more than enough to stop your PT at Chain 4.

Spider web cannot be countered by Haste, at least that is what our NIN says. And he is the one dealing with his timers. The slower he can cast Utsusemi, the more hits he takes and the less hate he has and it slows the whole PT down. He needs to be operating at 125% efficiency.

Our WHM spams Erase pretty much. I am fairly certain this plays a huge role in our PT slamming down 5k+ per hour but I never sat down and dissected it.

Oh and you can't compare a Spell to Equipment. It's an unfair comparison. A spell like Erase enables you to do something you couldn't before. Equipment just enables you to do something better.

I am lvl 55 almost 56. In all my time partying I have hunted spiders twice for experience points. TWICE DAMNIT!!! Neither of which where very lucrative, sickle slash is to much of a nuisance. Geuss what we will not be doing spiders again if I have any say in the party. Yea spend 300k for a few hours of leveling... I don't know I would just as soon spend that 300k on... just about anything else. I could always use more Staves, my BLM needs alot of important spells, astral would be nice... or better yet, that is half the money of one of my Damascene cloths for Vemillion. A far better investment then some shitty spell that is horrendeusly overpriced.

I was trying too make up my mind too respond too this or not but finally going too. I agree with Rones pretty much. However after hitting my sixties I found a need for Erase for some mobs in Cape Terr. Its pretty usefull. But it has a high price tag and thats where the problem really is. Alot of us try too get by without it cause its hard too save up. We could mine but then there are our friends, the gil sellers stealing our mining points. So guess we could farm but then you got the same problem. Crafting is another way but honestly alot of people don't want too fool with this cause it takes money too raise your skills. Fishing is another way but it takes time too level. Doing the lvl 40 BC match for it is a good way but alot of people do not want whm in these matches so I hear. Krono, always yells hunt NMs but honestly thats a pain cause of the competition. WHM needs Light staff and Dark staff also in the lvl 50 range. Those are the factors that plays in one's mind when trying too figure a way too save up or at least for me.

My advice on this don't expect WHM too have earse pre fifties. Ask the WHM when you form the party before you go level, "Do you have erase?" If he says no then work around it. Figure out a new place where there are mobs too level off of where its not really called for. Its bad leadership in my opinion too just assume a mage too have a high dollar spell in the 30 too 40 level range.

Sorry if I sounded preachy but wanted too throw that advice in there.
