"Whm don't need gear" >Nirrti

Looked at ffxiclopedia, and wow, MND boosts Cure V like crazy...MND*1.5 is added onto one's regular healing.

Until then, though, you're stuck with a soft cap. Only an insane amount of MND will even raise your heals by a little...maybe I'm too much of a power gamer, but I like to tech my character out, and simply equipping for MP is not my idea of that.

Take out the soft cure caps, SE!

It's pretty sweet though. All said and done, I can equip myself and have somewhere around +32 mind, maybe more if I had the money to deck myself out a little better. RL Work consumes too much time for IG work. ^.~ Either way, Cure V for me is almost a full heal with my mind gear on. When I remember to grab it from my mule, is the other qualifier x.x;;

Yes so you can cure bomb a tank, and take hate then die. You are so right.

Cure 5 is less hate then Cure 4. If you, as a pld, are Cure 4'ing then the cure 5 will not take hate from you. Of course, anyone who is blasting cure's is not using regen and not keeping the tank hasted. Either that, or the tank can't keep hate to save his life. Moral of the story is, let's have galka-hume buttsmex.

WHMs really DO need gear. We cant have healers running around like bums, WHMs are the ELITE.

C'mon people represent!~

You have no idea how true this statement actually is.

Meh I have great gear on my whm and still can't land any enfeebs - it suxx D:.

Also a whm with gear has more mp and stronger cures which means less downtime. If you need a healer I'm a 32 RDM....with a back up, I'm pretty kick ass with the mad healing skillz.

If you invite Sab's you are guaranteed a dead taru in a short time ;).

The great thing is that a decked out WHM, we're talking HQ and that super duper lv 1 MP ring can get to 37 without a SJ and no one would really know any better.

If you're above Lv. 20 and don't have a subjob... people notice. Hell, I'd be bitching at a Lv. 30 WHM with a gimp sub because they're not getting any Conserve MP action.

We already did it with my roommate a few years ago and no one ever complained about it. With HQ gear, juice, and the knowledge on how to play the job, she was able to lv whm to 37 and then go straight to SMN without ever getting a SJ. Hell we got her rank 5 at 20. In this crazy flameboard world you think someone wouldve complained about a WHM w/o a SJ post 20 :)

Responding to the OP (I haven't read through all the remaining five pages).

Anyone who doesn't respect their job enough to get at least some decent gear, or who doesn't accept and try to do their job to the best of their ability, should indeed be kicked.

Whm gear in the 30s gives mp, sometimes some hmp, conceivably some negative emnity. It can also give a whm some mind. The mp difference alone between an ungeared whm and a geared whm can be significant. And, for the cost of questing rse or getting seer's gear, it adds up to a lot.

So, yeah, I agree that someone who doesn't care enough about the job to equip it should get the boot.

Even more troubling to me are those who don't know how to play their jobs at that level, or even worse, who refuse to. I'm not talking about all the refined stuff - but I am talking about doing the things you would expect anyone at that level to do - such as at least having an ungimped (or very narrowly ungimped) blm. Such as, by level 35 or so, being expected to have and properly use erase (ferchrissakes its, what, 15k now at ah???). Such as being able and willing to enfeeble if there are no rdms or blms in the party. Such as, a rdm at level 41+ being unwilling or extremely lax about refreshing a party's pld tank or their healer (I've experienced it more than once - twice, the rdm outright refused to refresh anyone but himself).

Yeah, I think there's been a decline in quality, and that SE has made the game a lot easier to progress through to high levels. In one sense, I can understand that. To keep the 'leet players, SE has to add more, which means there's more for a noob to get thru to become elite. Still, it means quality is more spotty, and that knowing other players abilities and their commitment to doing their jobs well becomes valuable information, and a player's rep has a lot of value associated with it.

All the best,
Fire

Conserve MP's level 20... unless you use Blind on WHM (and most don't), a WHM doesn't get much of anything useful from BLM sub until 30, 34, or 40 (ES, Warp, Conserve MP/Sleep, respectively), depending on your opinion of the importance of those.

Granted, I bitch about gimp subs just as a matter of principle. But /BLM really doesn't offer too much at low levels (then again, neither does anything else).

Yes, romper. In fact, let's have a nuking soft cap so that BLMs never take hate. Player skill should have nothing to do with it.

Jojojojojojojojojojojojo just stop. Whm needs both Mnd and MP. Without Mnd Cure V will do like 500 hp. Without Mp Whm can only cast like 7 Cure Vs. I've personally done tests on Mnd and it doesn't take much to notice a difference. I used to think that Mp was where it's at but after doing tests I now know I was wrong. It takes both to make a good Whm.

The only reason Whm wants the most Mp is a Epeen thing. Nothing else. Try looking up one of MANY Whm topics on these boards. The whole Mp vs Mnd thing has been beaten to death.

Your asking for cures (which teamed with regen) don't need to have their soft cap taken off. Your asking to have ultimate cure bombs like WoW does. FFXI doesn't need the soft cap taken off at all.

Kotsu Jojo wants the minimum amount of cure removed so you can have a higher range with cure strength. I am well aware of how Cure V works. Meet me around 6 EST Big boy, and I will find a galka that wants buttsmex for you.

This is true. A WHM needs both, I keep saying! A MND set for Cure V and a MP set for everything else. Cure V is the most MP efficient healing spell (regens aside) and it would be silly not to take full advantage of it. I mean every other job can manage to use equip macros successfully... a WHM can too.

Once again, I'm talking pre-Cure V. I know that MND is great for Cure V.

Before Cure V, though, there's a soft cap that makes you require a large amount of MND to add a few points to a cure. I would love WHM if SE removed this cap,
so I could uber up on MND and make huge heals. Equipping for MP/HMP doesn't do as much for my e-peen.

Once again you want SE to remove the soft cap, and take hate for just a big number on cures. Genius.

You're the only galka for me baby... sorta...

Anyhow, back to CoP.

I like Cure 5. ^.^

Removing the soft cap would negate any usefulness for cure 4/5. When you reach the cure 3 cap by level 25-30(it's been a while), you'll be able to add a few hundred to it by the time you're 75 and there'd be almost no reason for any higher level cure than that.

That's all removing the cure cap and stacking as much mnd for cure 5 gets you really, e-peen.

Use MP to start off when you buff etc. Then switch to Enmity/MND.

Cure III will always be your main source of cure, and yes, it have a soft cap that takes an insane amount of healing/MND to break. Hence, you will want Enmity and Cure Potency for it, in order to get more out of it, and to take even less hate from it.

However, whenever your melee gets hit with, say, Thunder IV or Thundaga III solo, or another high-damaging move, you will want as much MND as possible in order to make your Cure V more effective, thus saving more MP total. Personally, my Cure V's heal for over 900 without day/weather effect and Divine Seal, but that's just me...

Additionally, you might want to invest in some DEF, Physical -% and Magic -% gear.

Aw, they removed editing from flame board again.

Anyway, no. Cure III would be WAY too overpowered if you removed the soft cap.

I did some calculations on Enmity with Cure spells earlier, and if I remember right, Cure V have slightly less enmity/HP cured then Cure II. However, due to having a higher Cure cap, its more hate then Cure II and about as much as Cure III. Cure Potency adds extra HP to the spells without adding any hate to the spell itself. Sadly, I lost my notes when I changed computer =/ Benediction, just like normal Cure spells, gives hate based on the HP healed. If you only heal people for 100 HP each, it won't give much hate. But if it cures everyone from 1 HP, it will give a whole lot of hate. Curaga spells work in a similar fashion, but I sadly don't remember the numbers I got out of it.

I remember reading somewhere that Cure 5 had flat rate enmity that ignored how much HP you healed (i.e. same whether you heal 0 or 900), that was about equivalent to the enmity from a full Cure 3.

Well, that could be true since I had rather equal results no matter how much I cured. Never tried to heal myself for 90 HP etc. with it, so yeah, could be about right.

Should do some more tests healing myself for 90, 100 180, 200 etc. <.< Damn Proph changed his password, so I can't log on him to whore him out for my testings ; ; Meh, might be for the best... I've been busy lately >.<
