Who is still playing FFXI?

just chiming in here, i recently have been feeding my ffxi itch. last week i installed bootcamp on my mac, installed windows 7, then steam had ffxi for $10 or so, so i said what the hell. since ARR wasn't coming out soon i installed which was rather painless except for the 12 hour update while i slept. i checked ffxiAH to see the most populated servers and decided on shiva server since it was up there, although quetz was intriguing it was about 10,000 active somewhere in the middle of the populations. once in game i admit after 4 days it was very quick to accomplish basics, party 2 jobs to 50, get sub job quest done, and rank 4 in sandy. as far as leveling, with emperor band, and level sync parties in gusgen mines it is extremely fast. i suddenly hit a wall. i need genkai 5 limit break. i did join a nice shell but everyone is basically end game doing abbyssea. so the days of finding a party for every level range seems to be over, since after level 30 the sync parties happen in abbysea. i want to start cop zm missions but cant do it alone. the persons that want to join me say i need a 75 job. so yeah after firing through for 4 days i dont see me doing anything end game anytime soon especially with a new expansion coming out, will widen that gap between me and end game. i miss my old account. i guess ill just screw around until ARR, which me and the wife intend to play together.

Just saw this on FFXIAH.com. Apparently, out of the 17 servers still open, Quetz is the lowest population, ranked 17th. When the next server roll comes around, Quetz will be rolled into something else, for sure.

Nin is awesome, you'll love it, and now theres one tool that does like everything

I saw that. Where was that 7 years ago?

My only problem is that I want to level up to 75 and not hop in a leech party in abyssea. I want to learn my job along the way traditionally and not get to 99 and have to grind my skills.

Looks like I'll be soloing books.

No, man, I really do. Life has been nothing but complicated and I've lost almost all of my friends. I was better off being ill.

OK, so I've been back for like 5 days, gotten two limit break quests done 75+ and 80+, gotten just two Abyssea parties, done one VW HNM, and collected several ATMAs, and pushed Blm to 81. I'm having a freakin blast! Whoever said this game was dead is out of their mind!

The problem I have, is that other than Blaze, and some older friends not on here, I haven't seen anyone in game!! (o. o')

I'm looking for a social shell? Any out there?! Come on people!

Preach it! I had to reroll and went to Asura. I got War to 50, did my subjob quest, went around and collected all the teleport craigs, way points and received mission rank 2 Bastok. I just completed the Kazham airship quest and arrived in Norg unlocking Ninja.

I'm having a ton of fun and met a lot of new people. Asura is rammed with the coolest peeps.

What I thought would happen has happened. I played for a couple of weeks, it was really exciting and fresh, and then one night (tonight) it all hit me at the side of the head that this game has been done for me.

Even though I never managed to really get into Abyssea and complete the storylines, I really can't sink back into it, especially with the FFXIV:ARR beta so near by.

Feels weird. Almost depressing. It's so hard to let this game go but at the same time when I'm online late at night it feels like 10 steps backwards in life and in gaming for me.

Anyone else feel this?

Nope, lol.

Then again, the bulk of my time in game since my return has been spent helping people with what they needed, which was always my favorite in-game activity.

quick update on my part. i was sitting around leveling my new character on a new server and decided to call square enix. i got the support line for ffxi and was able to do an account recovery for my old account. all they did was verify the DOB, address and phone number used for the POL ID information i requested. they issued me the POL ID and Password i had on record. i took this info and linked it to my SE account and was able to re-activate even after quitting in 2009. i was amazed when i logged in to see my taru and items all untouched as if i never left. BOOM. mysticalone is back running quetz! if anyone would care to have me, please send me a friend invite/linkshell. im back for while grinding one of my jobs to 90!

Nah man, I for one am glad you at least tried to swing back into it! How do you know if you never try right!? At least you have 14 to look forward to! :-P

I'm the same way Raes. Hit my 1st job to 99 last night and then started working Thf up. Abyssea has been fun and I don't see myself walking away yet. Just wish there were more people to help!!

Hey Mystic, welcome back! Glad you were able to get your shitz! I'll see if I can get you hooked up on my shell. It CAN be slow at times, but its a good group of peeps, they're helpful, and they'll get you up-to-par on most of the knowledge you need to get back into the swing of it! I will say, read up on Abyssea NOW if you haven't! There's a LOT to it and with the expansion pending, there's going to be some loss of volume of people helping/working in the zones (at least during the new content wave). I'll be on tonight (Friday night) after like 6:30-7. Hopefully one of the sack holders is on. I'll vouch for ya! :-)
