Do you play because you enjoy a challenge which XI is best known for? Do you play because you're an obsessive compulsive completist and you still haven't maxed everything out yet? Are you only in it because of all the friends you've met and you don't want to lose touch? None of the above? Something else entirely?
 
All of the above.

Also because I love catgirls, and this game has tons of them.
 
I play because its fun. I wont do anything in the game that isnt fun. Excluding farming, because thats unavoidable.

In life there are two things that are for sure: Death and Taxes

Same thing in FFXI: Death and Farming. Oh and noobs to. Yea, gilsellers too I guess. And RMT, cant forget that. And of course, Poh in selbina.

But where was I? Oh yea...fun.
 
I have to say i play because the game overall is great and i love everything about it *coughfarmingsuckscough* but i have met such a wide variety of people and have made so many friends i will be playing for a very long time to come. also it gives me the opportunity to /poke tec lol
 
I because addicted when I forst got this on ps2 when it first came out (week b4 my birthday) so it was kinda a present to myself. I love the socialness of the game thats why I havent been able to play anyother type of game and stay interested. I love mmos and ill never go back maybe except for maybe GTA and other FF rpgs. I love the fact that I can just hang otu in a video game just like I do in real life sometimes (still do hang out in real life). FF11 basicly took the tv/movie spot in my life I find myself losing track with everything on tv these days but when I finally watch it I see that im not missing anything. All my favorite shows record on my brothers recorder box thingy.

I've been asking myself that again, actually. I don't really find the game challenging per say. About the only challenge this game offers is organizing events, linking up with people of common interests, and dodging politics. With this being a MMO, I think the answer for most is the people they meet. The people keep things interesting... cus god I know the wide variety of crabs and crawlers got boring a long while back. hehe.
 
Because I know 13RL friends/family playing and it's nice to be able to get on and play with them and meet some fun people along the way. I'm all about getting in some good times since we all work and have trouble hanging out together. A lot of times it'll be like 10:30 at night and we'll just log on and hang out for two hours, then go to sleep for work. It's just nice and this game poses enough of a challenge to keep my intersted.
 
I started the game intending to keep to myself and max out my character as I'd do in any single player RPG. Being a completist kept me going for a year, but then the scope of what "completing" FFXI would entail led me to abandon that course, and now I just play because of all my friends.
 
#1:I made 2 best friends on here that I wouldn't have made anywhere else, I keep playing on other people's mules so one doesn't quit on me when i can get Khidir online, the second keeps faith in me and chugs away to get 75mnk.

#2:I'm tired of being told that I can't balance something, so I play now to know exactly what my limits are, and if I can't handle it I will drop it before I suffer from it.

#3: I want to at least master Red Mage, Summoner, Beastmaster, and Blue Mage to 75 because those are my dream jobs, I have enjoyed playing in the FF series:)

Not a real reason but want to meet some people who are funny as hell on QCDN got Lanien off my list, now all i need to see it is the manthra that knows it all(Bajarrat), and the deleving hume(Cythe) and a few more.
