Why was Peregrine allowed to make a new account and post here?

We all know it's Kinkkerbelle already, we just don't have enough rope yet.

but you're an admin! Just use.. uh.. probable cause?

Dont you have some "We can ban anyone for any reason at any time" clause or something?

Circumnavigating existing ban.

Aught be a bannable offence, has been on other forums I've used.

So you know it's her...and creating sock puppets is a bannable offense...but you can't ban her?

I understand the point that it's all circumstantial evidence, but this isn't the criminal court systems. Hell, at best it's analagous to the civil court system and there you don't have to prove "beyond the shadow of a doubt" someone's guilt or innocence.

Allowing someone to use your acct who is already banned is a banable offense. This person should get a temp ban for 30 days like necrosis, or permaban like juveniles original acct.

First, this is dead-on. It shouldn't matter why someone uses someone else's account. Aren't we always lecturing bout that in game terms? It's because of the potential for abuse of said account, the potential for manipulation of information and overall havoc/confusion that can cause. See the whole Kinkerbelle/Deniro/Shaw debacle of the past.

I see a gray area when the other someone is using the acct only to send PMs, particularly ones of good intent. We've got a thread going re: guidelines for punishment under various scenarios, this is one of the areas we're covering.

As I said, there really shouldn't be a gray area. And particularly in people who were permabanned. These people weren't banned because of some small infraction. They were permanently barred for a reason. They proved themselves to be unable to be civil, unable to follow the rules time and again, unable to act with some kind of personal discipline. They are just proving the same again by flouting the rules to post/message/whatever through someone else's account despite rules forbidding it. It is ridiculous that someone as toxic as Peregrine is even being listened to by mods, and worse, that someone like Necrosis gets banned for letting Vang post while someone like this Cicilee chick doesn't for letting Peregrine. Tell me how that makes any sense whatsoever.

Well, shit then. Problem solved.

I talked to Peregrine a minute ago on AIM and he said while he did talk through Cecilee to a mod via PMs, he was never physically on his account to do so. Take it for what its worth. I don't think its against the rules to communicate through another member if the message was passed on through a third party communication system (AIM, MSN, w/e they used). Cecilee sent a message on behalf of Peregrine, but it wasn't Peregrine himself sending the message on the account.

Just thought I'd post what I found out from talking with him myself after I saw Cecilee's account had been perma-banned. Hate to see someone be unfairly banned if this does indeed exonorate them. If not, at least its out there that you can be banned for sending PMs on behalf of banned people.

If he's not supposed to be here, then using another member's account as the vehicle to be here (be it the other member or Pere actually speaking), doesn't make any sense.

He's not supposed to be here. Severing this tie removes him, which was a deliberate action. Nothing unfair about this.

I don't know anything about this issue other than what this thread has said, from what I see, I think the issue is someone sent a PM on behalf of peregrine to someone else, for whatever reason.

I've sent a PM to mods in the past on behalf of peregrine in the past, with the "good intentions" too.

I was not aware forwarding a message from a banned person was against the rules, and a instant perma-bannable without a second chance/first warning one at that.

Thanks for letting us know that's not allowed after the fact and someone has been banned.

Now the question is, am I different than ceclilee?

They didn't let us know after the fact. It's been a rule. And not that long ago, Necrosis was temp-banned for letting Vang use his account to post.

Are people somehow missing what perma-banned means? As in permanent? They screwed up. Do not get to post here, do not get to send messages. They. Are. Banned. As in no longer get to utilize this site. If it was so important to them to be in touch with people here, they would've tried harder not to screw it up or made sure they had another way to keep in touch.

After looking around and being unable to find such a rule quickly, gonna have to ask you to quote it for me. I have a feeling that the wording is suggestive of not letting banned people directly on your account, not forwarding a message. Where does it stop? Is Zylia paraphrasing what peregrine said against the rules? Would someone posting a screenshot of a convo with vang saying something dumb/funny against the rules?

And necrosis was only temp-banned for letting vang directly onto his account? That sounds alot worse than forwarding a message to a mod through a PM. As for your comment about "keeping in touch", I somehow doubt peregrine wanted to chat about what they did last weekend, sometimes you do have to consider context. I personally would not of forwarded a personal message of no importance for someone else, but if the situation seemed important to the point someone's physical health might actually be an issue, I'd defiantly forward a message.

The world is not clear-cut black and white, I don't know what the PM pere sent through cecilee was about, or any other details not in this thread, but if it was anything like the PM I sent to mods because of peregrine, you'd have to be pretty damn heartless not to forward the message. If you think upholding peregrine's ban from the site for making dumb comments about a video game is more important than someone's physical health, then you have some odd priorities.

Something as black and white as "permanent ban" doesn't require a printed rule. Everyone on this forum is old enough to simply understand that, without documentation. Folks that have been permanently banned deserve no grace from QCDN. They have all been permanently banned for good reason.

When it was determined that certain people were NEVER allowed back here, and then somehow show a presence again after said determination, that makes zero sense. If the Mods want to officially un-permaban Peregrine, that's a different story. More like a fairy tale.

Seems easy enough to understand...
