Why?

Coustain, I think this thread just got out of control. Once it did, you got poor responses from the people you least want to hear from. From where I am sitting, you got misunderstood and the topic really never recovered.
I think you're good people, and any shell will be lucky to get a PLD with your heart working for them.

Don't write off endgame completely because some posts have ruined this thread. Those that may have had something worthwhile to say about it, saw the BS going on here and didn't bother. There are good people to team up with, but very few in this thread.

End game can be a blast if you play with the right people. Some shells minimize the drama and do a real good job of providing the content to their members. Some are drama sponges and absorb every little quarrel like they have nothing better to do with themselves. Some shells hack in a variety of ways. Some shells play fair and aren't as productive. Some shells play fair and are more productive.

Its really just a matter of finding the right place to play. You can cheat or you can play fair. You can start drama or you can avoid it. Its up to you what you want this game to be. If you don't like committment, don't join end game.

Don't be discouraged though. Do your research and you'll find the shell for you. Best of luck,

Endgame isn't for everyone, to be honest. I'm not even sure endgame is for me, and I'm pretty much done in Sky, 5/5 AF2, etc etc.

From the purely cynical outlook, endgame is where you get the gear that sets you apart from other players with your job. Or, in many cases, simply defines you as "average" in an increasingly competetive field.

From another perspective, of course, endgame is also the place where you'll find the biggest challenges and greatest accomplishments in game.

I'll be honest. Your chances of breaking into endgame as a pre-75 PLD aren't the best, simply because there are a lot of 75 PLD with good gear, merits, and tons of experience sitting around, and most shells simply don't need any more than they already have. Getting into an established shell will be the hardest of all.

Saying that one should recruit the player and not the job is fair enough, but the fact of the matter is the one I stated above, if you've got enough of a job the player is largely irrelevant. Yes, Player X is a great guy, dedicated, a team player, and doesn't ask for much. He's also Job Z, of which we have 5, which is in all honesty 2 more than we need.

Still, don't get too discouraged. Chances are that there's a shell out there that fits your schedule and will require the services of a PLD at some point or other, though it might not be right now.

I'm sorry if this was already said, but simply put, the good outweighs the bad. It most likely will be in terms of meeting new people and making friends, which at times may be the sole reason you can even putting up with certain things for days, weeks, months. For some of us it becomes meeting new people and the gear we originally strive for actually just becomes an extra bonus.

...Though that doesn't apply to everyone. =/

I havent done much end-game stuff really, all the people I know in them tend to run on eastern timezones and I work till 4pm PST weekdays, I continue to work on upgrading my PLD where I can and someday I'll get more into endgame. Its hardly the most urgent thing in my game life really and I'd rather be fully commited to something than just doing it out of a passing interest.

Hey Coustain, we met when you and Nycon were getting your Parade Gorget's. I just started in an endgame LS a couple of days ago and so far i've laughed my backside off, almost been killed a couple times, and generally had a blast. I don't have Sky access yet, so I'm helping camp a NM that drops a BB item. The night i got my pearl I was in an Alliance with tanks, dd's, rdm's, brd's, and 9-10 blm's(a dream come true for a taru blm).

So this NM spawns in an area where there are about 10-15 aggressive mobs that will eat up stoneskin/blink and any other paper thin def i have. everyone goes out sneaked/invised and waits for this things to pop. once it pops and you claim or try to claim your s/i drops and every mob around you aggros. Well i was standing right next to the guy that claimed it, and of course he was taru, and a blm, and was mauled to death before he got 20 feet. So as the tank and a whm went to get control of this NM, the rest of the alliance went to work destroying every mob in the zone, since by now, they had all aggro'd/linked and were pounding on anything that was moving. At the beginning it was pure and utter chaos, but the dust soon settled, the NM was a heaping pile of tortoise parts, the zone was cleared of life, and we only had a couple casulties.

Now that probably doesn't sound like the best time, but i really enjoyed myself. While waiting for the NM we were killing anything that moved around our camp, skilling up weapons, blowing stuff up, just basically goofing around. I ended up getting a crystal or 2, a few KS's, other various items, and nice new title.

Now, this is just my first experience with this shell and I don't know what's around the corner, but I sure am going to keep going around corners cause if it gets better than this(and everything i've been told or read says it will), i'm ready for it. Really the only thing I can say is at least give it a try. What do you have to lose? Meh, maybe a little exp, sleep(cause of camping until wee hours of the morning), all minor stuff for how much fun it is to see a mob the size of a house fall in front of you beaten, battered, and defeated.

My 2 cents,
Shmed
