Wii Price Drop Confirmed

Wow, did Nintendo even need to do this? Perhaps their sales have slowed?
 
Their sales have slowed down; it's still outselling everything else(except the DS), but it's not selling out like it used to.
 
Reason Wii cut their price because Micro/Sony cut their prices as well. for HD is only $50 more, consumer will buy Micro/Sony console system more then Wii base on performance. And i also heard they shrink the size of the cpu too (not comfirm yet) to reduce manuf. cost.

It is best for Wii to cut their prices to stay on the market.




Offtopic: Is it me or wii popularity have reduce since like 2 years ago? I heard alot of complains about wii only 480p resolutation (SDTV), and alot 3rd party games sucks. Only games worth to play is made by Nintendo, and exclusive game.

It's because everyone fucking has one lol. It's a "family system", so you don't need one for the living room and each kid in the house.
 
It's going to $220 in Canada as far as work told me and it's happening on Sunday. A bunch of my friends are gonna pick some up now lol, not that it was expensive in the first place but prices dropping help a lot.
 
Got mine on release date and haven't played it for about 5 months. They need to do more than just drop the price.

They need to bring over a bunch of the EU-only games, there's a bunch of excellent titles that aren't in America for some reason, even though they're in English already.

For total sales, it outsells everything but the DS, but recent sales up to 9/19/09 shows it being outsold worldwide by both the DS and the PS3. (source: http://www.vgchartz.com/weekly.php)

Even $200 is too much of a pricetag for this system. For the same amount someone could buy an Xbox 360 or for an extra $100, get a PS3.

For the hardcore market, that's definitely an issue, but for the casual gamer; who's practically only heard of the wii or primarily hears about the wii; the fact that you can get a 360/PS3 for a similiar price isn't an issue. That's why sales of the Wii haven't plummeted since the 360/PS3 price cuts. They're targeting different markets, a price drop in Mercedes cars isn't going to have that much of an impact on the sale of bicycles.
