Windower + Fraps

Hi everyone,

I am not very techincal minded so I thought I would ask those that might know about all this computer stuff.

I use Windower when playing so I can chat on MSN, look at websites and other chat on here but ever since I started to use Windower, I stopped using Fraps to take my photos.

Eventhough Windower does save pictures to PNG by pressing "Print Screen" button, I prefer the way to which Fraps did it for me.

Does anyone know if it would work on top of Windower?

Half of the people on this game use the windower, there's a possibility, but I doubt it.

Yes, as it breaks the End Users Agreement by Square-Enix

Just because Half of the players use it, doesn't make it right. Personaly, I haven't used it, because it's unstable, as well as SE has also been cracking down on it.

To explain 'why' it's in violation of the agreement is because the game is not ment to run outside of full screen mode. Hence this is to prevent cheating in the game. You hear of speed hacks and such from different sources? That's usualy from plug-ins for the Windower.

The windower itself sounds like a good tool, for the reasons listed at the first post. It's because of players who have the "I Have to be Better than you" mentality that ruin things like this for others. IE: before the cheat plug-ins came out for the windower, SE probably didn't really didn't care~

yea kea, fraps can be used... for many things that run,.. example, FFXI Model Viewer..

what I do, is just run it when I want to take pic's and stuff, then close it out afterwords.

any program that alters the way the game plays/works (ie, takes Screen Shots) is against the TOS. However, SE/GMs cannot detect things like the windower and fraps... the only way you will get suspended/banned for using them is if you talk about using them in game, and someone reports you to a GM. Frankly, i wouldn't worry about.

Kea, Fraps will work with the windower but you will probably want to change the button you use to save pics with it... at least for me, F10 causes my game to do some weird things in windower when other keys do not

not sure if you would be banned for using fraps. SE basically says no 3rd party programs should be running when playing the game (fraps, windower, etc.)

SE could've easily avoided this if only they designed this game to be windowed like every other game... but... it's always the hard way with them. Besides, I guess my winAMP would get me a trip to Mordion Gaol anyway... rofl.

i use 3DAnalyzer to run Windower to run FF, and i can start up Fraps anytime and have it work perfectly. So yeah... it works lol. Honestly though, who cares if you use non-illegal 3rd party programs? if you take a good look, SE doesn't use their (outdated) screenshot system, because other ways (read 3rd party ways) do a better job.

Windower is not that different; it was originally designed to help me use my computer as a computer instead of a really bad console; and I still use it as such.

3DAnalyzer? who cares if i have a crappy video card lol. I only use it to be able to play at all.

If SE wants to complain, they usually have a good reason to do so (like bots). But they have no reason to complain because of me.
