Windower Macros

I don't use windower *ahem*, but if I did, I might have a question like the following.

Suppose I were using windower macros, and they wouldn't stay binded. I have to keep typing out "/console exec Dynamis.txt" to keep rebinding them, but they keep unbinding like a poorly tied shoe.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? This is my Dynamis macro set (incoming horrible ugly copypasta)

keyboard_bind ^1 input /map;
keyboard_bind ^2 NukeGear; input /equip main "Thunder Staff"; input /equip legs "Wizard's Tonban"; input /equip head "Elite Beret"; input /ma "Stun" <t>; input /p Stunning <t>!;
keyboard_bind ^3 input /equip main "Aquilo's Staff"; NukeGear; input /ma "Blizzard IV" <t>;
keyboard_bind ^4 input /equip main "Thunder Staff"; NukeGear; input /ma "Thunder IV" <t>;
keyboard_bind ^5 input /equip main "Aquilo's Staff"; NukeGear; input /ma "Blizzard III" <t>;
keyboard_bind ^6 EnfeebGear; input /equip main "Wind Staff"; input /ma "Gravity" <t>;
keyboard_bind ^7 input /ma "Sneak" <t>; input /ma "Sneak" <me>;
keyboard_bind ^8 input /ma "Invisible" <t>; input /ma "Invisible" <me>;
keyboard_bind ^9 RestGear; input /heal;
keyboard_bind ^0 EnfeebGear; input /equip main "Water Staff"; input /ma "Bind" <t>

keyboard_bind !1 DarkGear; input /ma "Drain" <t>;
keyboard_bind !2 EnfeebGear; input /equip main "Dark Staff"; input /ma "Sleepga II" <t>;
keyboard_bind !3 NukeGear; input /equip main "Wind Staff"; input /ma "Aero IV" <t>;
keyboard_bind !4 DarkGear; input /ma "Aspir" <t>;
keyboard_bind !5 input /assist Barbiegirl;
keyboard_bind !6 input /ma "Erase" <t>; /ma "Erase" <me>;
keyboard_bind !7 input /ma "Stoneskin" <me>; input /wait 11; input /ma "Blink" <me>
keyboard_bind !8
keyboard_bind !9 input /clock on;
keyboard_bind !0 input /equip main "Apollo's Staff"; input /ma "Cure III" <t>; input /ma "Cure III" <me>;

You just put /console exec whatever.txt in your macro line, then you make a text file of the same name with all of the commands in it. So for something like Rampage:

in-game macro Ctrl - 1:
/console exec Rampage.txt

outside of the game: Rampage.txt

input /equip head "WS head piece"
input /equip whatever else
input /ws "Rampage" <t>
pause however long you want
input /equip head "TP head piece"

and so on for the entire macro.

So I have to make a text file for each macro and copy all my aliases into each one? That sounds like a lot of work for a few extra macro lines.

Yeah, you have a separate text file for each one. It's not that much work really(no more than you're doing now except for making different files), certainly less than whatever you're trying to do; plus it works.

i might be wrong, but im pretty sure /wait doesn't work in windower macros (when you put it in the txt file), so for example for my sorc ring, i'd have to make a file for HP down gear, then one for my nuking gear, so my game macro would be
/console exec HPdown.txt
/wait 1
/console exec nuking.txt

i tried to make one file but it would just execute it all at once without the wait

but to jojojo's question, im not completely understanding your question, youre saying that you make a macro and it wouldn't stay? if thats your question its not the windower macros, theres something wrong with your game. a couple of months ago, all of a sudden my macros won't save (if i changed a macro it would go back to the old one within seconds of making it) i asked a GM and pretty much told me to reinstall the game -.- i tried to do a system restore on my computer too

keyboard_bind ^0 EnfeebGear; input /equip main "Water Staff"; input /ma "Bind" <t>

one more thing, bind is ice, your aquilo's staff will be more appropiate, and its black magic so the MND on the water staff won't affect it.

To respond to Alexxia's comment, wait does work in windower macros, but you have to do it in a different style.

For example, this does NOT work:

input /equip head "W/e you wear for rampage";

input /equip neck "W/e you wear for rampage";

input /equip etc "You get the picture";

/wait 1

/input /ws "Rampage" <t>;

However, the following DOES work:

input /equip head "W/e you wear for rampage";

input /equip neck "W/e you wear for rampage";

input /equip etc "You get the picture";

wait 1;

/ws "Rampage" <t>;

----=======----

Also, to answer your previous questions Jojojo, the way Bajaratt described it is a generally smoother way to send the prompt to the game because sometimes the keyboard_bind !8 crash you out. Best to make full use of the /console command.

However, if you want some more neat tricks with your binds you could do some things such as the following:

keyboard_bind !F12 input /clock
or, another alternative which I prefer keyboard_bind !F12 exec folder/clock.txt where you have a command to do the clock. You can get a ton done with windower macros if you optimize the console in the game. I'll give you one small line command for what you could do say with your BLM.

Line 1 in game: /ma "Firaga III" <t>
Line 2 in game: /console exec folder/nukegear.txt (this line would put in w/e you use to nuke in)
Line 3 in game: /equip main "Vulcan's Staff"
Line 4 in game: /recast "Firaga III"

That macro would have you nuke but blink you out to where you don't have to watch the casting animation, also puts you in all your nuke gear and shows recast in one simple macro. Hope this helped you out some.

i thought you had to wait for the spell to go off (seeing the mob's HP go down) but b4 the animation to put in your standing gear to blink out. firaga3 takes a while to cast so if you macro that all in without waits you'd end up nuking in your standing gear. you'd have to wait till youre about 50% casting then "blink". i got my info off http://kanican.livejournal.com/10260.html what he says seem to make sense and from personal experience

ah, yeah forgot about that. I actually based a lot of my macros off his LJ, was just way too lazy to log on to my 2nd character to look at exact layout. I'll edit it out of there just wanted to give him example of other ways to layout his macros than binding directly to keys.

I love you.

I was halfway through making a text file for each macro when i read this, I can't believe I didn't think of it.
