Wings of the Goddess E3 screens

We're planning on having at least one area that functions as a base-type of area in the past where players can stay if they want to. But it's up to the players, depending on their play style, they can stay in the present and go to the past, or go to the past and make it their point of origin
Mmm...no more full whitegate?! Besieged will be horrible once the expansion comes out...

First of all, we'll hopefully get in the next version update the ability for players to go into the racetrack and actually see the races.
THIS is why I wanted chocobo racing. Maybe even betting on the winner, either with a system SE puts in or...people managing the gambling.

Actually, when we first started planning Treasures of Aht Urhgan it was supposed to be for really high-level players, and make it really difficult. But it ended up being a little bit easier than most people were expecting. But for the new expansion we want to make it for the high-level players, and that's what we're aiming at, but we'll see.
I was kinda hoping for capped areas this time...maybe I'm one in a million, but early CoP areas let my use some jobs I hadn't exactly leveled higher yet.

As for new areas in Wings, there's about 30 areas.
It's the same amount of areas that were in the original Final Fantasy XI without Rise of the Zilart.
...well since most, if not all of them, ARE past versions of old areas, but still...
hot damn.

Small edit, but the interview said there'd be new jobs. Now, I know most people are praying for Time Mage, but think about it for a moment. There could be occupations that were long forgotten after the crystal war that we could pick up in this expansion. Might be interesting to see something totally new.

I think some form of Mimic/Mime'd be neat...if they used some point system like BLU (sorry, all I could think of), could use the points to increase their normal skill cap in [x] skill (i.e. might it'd cost a little bit to go from E to D-, even more to get to say, B-, and a moderately high amount to set the skill to A- or A+) or give them access to [x] JA or spells from a certain job up to a certain level (cap could be same dealy as with skill levels).

Sounds like it could easily be broken, but if they made the higher, actually useful caps/abilities cost a semi-steep amount, I think it'd be able to balance the job pretty well.

Don't think that'd ever happen though. I really want a leathermimicmaskthingy too, think it'd look cool on Mithra. XD

Ya, I've always wanted Mime. Its one of the jobs I really consider to be lacking in this game, it would be so cool xD

One way to implement it would be to have an ability with a 10 min cooldown allowing them to cast a spell from any job that's currently in your party, and another ability with a 20 min cooldown to use any ability (except for 2-hour and pet abilities) of the jobs currently in your party. Give it a small PLD-like MP pool and give them melee stats, and it could work like a PLD/NIN hybrid. With WAR sub it could work like a self-supporting DD or tank that can heal itself provided someone with Cure is in the party, could also refresh itself or others if a RDM is in the party. Could also use Convert, assuming a RDM didn't use it yet, or abilities such as Berserk, assuming a melee have it ready. It wouldn't be a very good tank (or maybe it would), but could still backup tank temporarily in case shit hits the fan. With 1 min spell recast and 10 min ability recast, it wouldn't be grosly overpowered. Give it some spells or abilities of its own and you have a good DD job.

i hope the missions in this expansion arent as stupid and drawn out as C.o.P.

but i dont think they could top the fights tho

All they need to do is avoid level capped areas, and make the borrow from ToAU's assaults and make boss fight caps completely optional.

This way you don't alienate high or low levels.

Kill the PS2. It's holding us down for new races, character models and storage space!!!! :banned:

Not that kind of storage space.

Well, thats the only kind I could see that you're talking about. You can't honestly be telling me you bought into their BS about not being able to let you carry more items. They've said it for years, then, suprise suprise, we have 80 more.

What happened to the eye rolling smiley? It would be of good use here.

Explain to me why they didn't add Mog House space or Inventory space then. Inventory being the most needed of all with all the gear swapping that some jobs do. That hasn't been touched in years...

What's the difference? Adding Mog Locker space requires the same resources as adding Mog Safe and Inventory space.

The thing is, they've denied being able to do it over and over..

And then they did it. It doesn't matter where the extra inventory comes from, but that it was added despite being deemed impossible. The alleged problem came from "too many items stored in memory." Not the actual size limit for inventory space, which has a programmed cap of 12k, atleast your chracters inventory does. You can see this very easily if you jump in to your items while zoning in to Whitegate from the massive lag.

Even blaming inventory or moghouse "limitation" on PS2 is stupid on a world-shattering level. Thats like saying there's no Calculator job because the XBox 360's buggy programming can't handle numbercrunching.

I wanted to be a male mithra. =(

They should add those.

1UP: Since every other expansion has introduced new jobs to FFXI

Umm... Are there some super secret things I missed in COP then? XD

Every other, RotZ did, CoP didn't, ToAU did, following the order WotG wouldn't, but it is.
They don't mean every other expansion asides from WotG.
