I was so glad and happy from last night I decided to post on here XD

My RDM was capped at 70 and I tried fighting him a few days ago but it didnt work when he Asuran Fisted me (ouch >.<) and I couldnt sleep him. So my first try went bad, basically. It was going so well before he did that >.<

I got a new test the next day and prepared for the fight. My LS mates lent me some of their gear and I went in last night.
I went in with so many meds including a Vile Elixir. Basically used the sleep nuke technique and Maat started up his Chainspell when i got him down to 50% O.o
I slept him (thank god) and I 2hr'ed hiss arse and won the fight without even touching the Vile Elixir!!

My second shot with Maat and I won!! I was sooo happy I was bouncing off the walls when I won XD

So my RDM will be heading to 75 in no time :D

And that was my good time last night!! XD
 
Congrats. And tsk... Only one Asuran fist? On one of my tries I ate it X3.

2nd try is great in my opinion.
I've heard many horror stories from other RDMs had to fight him over
10+ times to win.

Well this is what i had...

Red Mage full AF
Dark Staff (for Sleep and Sleep 2)
Light Staff (for Curing if needed)
Ice Staff (for bind and paralyze)
Wind Staff (for Aero 3 and Gravity)
Evasion Torque (i think... MP+10 EVA+6? one)
Electrum ring x2
Phantom earring
Cunning earring
Morion Tathlum

I borrowed...
Zircon ring x2
Red Cape +1
Spider Torque (helps Sleep stick longer o.O)
Penitent's Rope

I bought...
5 X-Potions
5 Hi-Ethers
3 Yagudo Drinks
1 Vile Elixir
1 Hyper Ether (forgot to take that with me lol)
1 Rolanberry pie

With all that...i had close to +20 INT O.o

If you dont have the Penitent's Rope ask a BLM friend that might have it lol
It seriously helped alot.

I went in on Watersday and won. My first try was on Windsday but I couldnt wait until then again so I went in on Watersday lol.

I made macros for all the spells and equipment change macros.
Also made macros for the items which saved me time from flipping thru menus.

It's optional but I'll put in what I did for reference...

Ate the Rolanberry pie and rested for the remaining MP
(Electrum rings on Evasion Torque on)
Traded the test and went into the BCNM and ran to the edge of the BCNM to see what spell Maat uses.
(he doesnt cast immediately but put Regen and Stoneskin up)
Sleep 2, Blink, Stoneskin up, Dispel
Popped a Yagudo drink from the macro
Dispel, Bind, Paralyze
(still sleeping like a baby)
Change equip macros to Zircon rings, Spider Torque
Aero 3 with Wind Staff
...and of couse he wakes up and resists my Sleep 2 >.>

He punched me a few times but kept running until he stopped to cast.
When he did I Sleep (1)'ed him (my buffs took most of the damage)
Buffed up with Blink and Stoneskin
Bind and Paralyze (Ice staff helps)
Popped 2 Hi-Ethers and Yagudo Drink from macros
Aero 3, Sleep2

I took 30-40% off him by now...Aero 3 did a consistent 340-350 damage.
Aero 3
Sleep2
Popped X-potion from macro
Convert
Cure 4, Cure 3
Popped another Hi-Ether
Maat wakes up starts up Chainspell (he was around 50%)
Sleep 2
I chainspelled Aero 3 and never looked back.

Finish time 6 minutes 30 seconds
Not a record time but hey I made him beg for mercy~

I had a macro for Vile elixir but I ended up not using it ^.^

Keep Blink and Stoneskin up, it will save your butt o.o
If he does start punching at you keep running and hope he'll stop to cast something lol

And there is a video in KillingIfrit. I watched that a few times. It was executed nicely ^.^

I'm still 0/3 with him... I've tried 2 diff strategies, didn't work. A friend told me to try another strategy which I'm gonna use but I need to go for another test... *sigh*

First time I was doing good, but time was my enemy. =/ Note: my first 2 sleeps2 didnt stick.
Second time Maat kicked my ass with Asuran Fists. Note: He kept interrupting my spells.
Third time again I was doing good, I was so close to beat him -I calculate another Aero3 would have done it- but... time was up. Note: My first sleep2 didnt stick. I needed more mp. I forgot to use the yagudo's drink doh. >.<

And I have my enfeebling capped...

Do you have the direct link for the video? I don't want to give up but I'm starting to lose hopes ><

Will take your tips in consideration. =)

I dont think it makes a huge difference if you go in with full equip or not.
At least thats what i figured from reading around.

I was told going naked doesn't work at all, and less for a mage. But I don't know, I haven't tried o.O

I didnt bother going in naked because when you do put on the MP+ AF, rings...you have to regain maybe 80MP? so...I decided not to.

I made a set of macros solely for that fight.
I made the Sleep2 and Sleep macros next to each other so if Sleep2 doesnt work then maybe Sleep would.
I had Blink and Stoneskin at the first 2 slots of the macro bar also.
First macro bar had Blink Stoneskin Sleep2 Sleep Dispel Bind Paralyze Gravity.
For the second macro bar, i put in Blink Stoneskin Refresh Convert Chainspell Aero 3 and then the meds macros.

The macros for items work very well. /item "item" "name" and that saved me time.
I didnt Refresh myself so I used the Yagudo drinks instead to save me the 40MP lol.
Other than that the appropriate staff with the spell macros.
More INT is pretty much more damage o.O
I dont have the moldavite earring (I still want it though XD) and I was doing pretty good damage 340-350. On Windsday my Aero 3 did 360-370 O.o
I can only wonder what the damage would have been if I did have the moldavite (o>.<)o o(>.<)o o(>.<o)
 
ok, rdm maat. after teaching 10 rdm's how to beat maat across 2 different servers, this is my findings:

A: rdm maat win requires both luck AND skill (luck = sleep success/resists)

B: strategy. i have never heard of any rdm beating maat by melee'ing him.
run in sleep2. stoneskin. yag drink. aero3 sleep2 rest 1tick. repeat until ~50% (or maat 2hrs) ensuring that stoneskin up all the time. convert as neccessary. use yag drink near end if low mp/hp after convert.
end with chainspell aero3. should have no problem wiping maat from 50% with chainspell aero3 if stoneskin is up, and he is NOT silenced. silenced maat = melee you to death fast. rather he waste time casting a spell than pounding on your weak body. on my hume rdm (this server) my aero3's were doing consistent ~454dmg on maat. always went in on windsday. all failures were either due to shitty luck on sleep, or stupid mistakes, like using a really slow activation mp/hp recovery item. or hitting the 6 key before the ctrl key so i had chat log up instead of hitting macro >.<

note: old friend from previous server that i taught over there from lv15+ just beat maat first try and broke record over there, so i am very proud of both her, and myself >.>

How fast did you beat him?

I got the "Clear-time record: 2 minutes 11 seconds." But I know that resets everytime the server does, so I'm always curious.
 
I beat him in 6 minutes 30 seconds.
When I went in the record was 4 minutes 19 seconds o.O
 
Congratulations! I hear that fight can be a serious trial for RDM, glad you got through it. ^^
