I didn't do the beta. Is it worth picking this up? I mean, I hear that there's an experience decrease after playing a class for a certain period of time. Does it look like everything is crazy time consuming again? It's nice having an RL...

Yeh people went way over board when they heard that exp thingy. It's no where near as bad as people were making out. It's a lot more casual friendly too, I mean. You can actually solo pretty well if you want to.

Yea I'm not concerned about the exp decrease too much. Between sports leagues, work, gym and other stuff I doubt I could hit that number anyway. I just hated the level grind and the 3+ hour end game events. Or the 2-3+ hour NM hunting lol

Read some interviews from the RSS feed and stuff. You can get a pretty good idea of where they are heading with this game. I think they said they want NMs to be instanced or something. Would stop a lot of competitive camping...

Edit: Welcome back also :P

Seems like they're going with casual WoW style gaming/building with some FF kick like the job classes, weapon skills and all. Plus the FF story and music, which takes it up another level. I'm guessing it's $15/month like everyone else. Will everyone quit this like WAR, Aion, and AoC once Star Wars comes out? lol I've been playing WoW like once or twice a week. Dunno if I wanna pay $50 and do it all over again, but it looks pretty good and intriguing. There a pretty big group from Quetzy going? i've seen two servers, Lindblum and Istar, listed.

For the most part I think we're mostly going to Istory though. So if you want to be around most of the old time Quetzers I'd head there. I had a lot of fun playing BETA despite not doing much, the idea of having to re-do it all again came release held me back a little. That and I've been re-doing it all again since Alpha launch haha.

SE said they aim to make the game more accessable to casual gamers and not just the hardcore gamers. Meaning that you should still be rewarded plenty for only putting in little time and not sitting on the game all day. So basically it sounds like you can keep your soul this time round ^^

she's refering to the game's current leaning to terrans. blizz admitted that the terran race came out noticeably stronger then the other two.

He still gets mad at the map editor. Terrans on the other hand require rage snacks.

As for 14, passing for now. Waiting to see if MvC3 has a decent roster. ;p

yea terrans are a bit ez mode but I still managed to break r4 in diamond as zerg :p

Either way making custom maps is much more entertaining than the normal melee mode anyway.

I may come back to SC2 after it is a bit more balanced :)

I have so much on my plate as is! I can't even finish the games I have!

Well I am in the early release. I have got to say that after 4 days I am going to sit this game out for a while. Hopefully new patches will make this game better. There are things in a mmo game that should be flushed out by release.

First of all, the chat interface is totally outdated. I played Anarchy online which came out like 10 years ago that had a better chat interface. How about the Market system, you roll the dice every time you are looking for something. How about an auction house or something to search for the item. I am not asking for a wow clone or anything like that, just there are so many better options than the ones they picked. There aren't nearly enough mobs, you have to wait 48 hours to do 8 easy quests that take 10 minutes each max. Everything seems like its delayed a few seconds. Open a shop, 3 second wait, teleport 10-15 second wait, release from death 15 seconds. It doesn't sound like a lot but those playing know what I'm talking about.
The difficulty of mobs are either way to easy, or way to hard. I don't know, it just seems like the release was rushed. I hope the fix it in upcoming patches.

A little bit about me and rig.

win 7 64bit

mmo's- Anarchy Online, WoW, Dark Age of Camelot, EQ, EQ2, CoH/Cov, Guild Wars, and many others for a bit.

I should return to this game in a month or two depending on what they do patch wise. Thank You

A lot of what Serion said is true, but by standards of MMO releases (NA ffxi doesn't count) this has been really smooth imo. While I wish npc, bazaar, synth delay/lag was a bit better, the lag in combat for me has been non-existent at least, I'm on Istory by the way. Ultimately though, I'm sure SE has patches/updates planned to smooth things out. XIV is still an infant, but a healthy infant compared to its MMO siblings.

And I definitely crave search functions/AHs without question as well. Although, SE has said they will definitely add functions to improve the economy, so I'm praising the patience approach. Until then, I've taken the opportunity to explore several jobs for flexibility and to discover what I enjoy.

Where I definitely agree with Serion though is that the chat system definitely could use some tweaking. More characters per entry would be a great place to start.

One place I definitely disagree though is in regards to the leve system. I think it's working as fully intended. 8 regionals, 8 locals, plus after you unlock them faction leves. Besides, this is one of SE's ways of encouraging party play be it through leve linking/sharing; in fact I've already became friends with a stranger so that we could benefit from each other in leve quests. This system will only improve as the community warms up to each other and linkshells get settled.

Oh, and what a great looking game.

It's 36 hours. You're basing your opinion on something you've hardly played. What peeves me is the lack of auction; which is undoubtedly coming. The markets are a mess with their lay out at the moment. Also, it's a bitch to get puglist weapons because of the ridiculous requirements for the crafting to make them. A rank 12 leatherworker item for a rank 6 fist weapon that is in goldsmithing. It makes no sense.

Also what's the point of Crysta if it can only be added through the pay-to-play thing, or their paypal rip off? It irks me a bit that they didn't say that they didn't take Discover. Which the lack of mentioning that until after the game was registered kind of pissed me off.

Some of those things are due to your computer I would believe. Teleporting and everything else is perfectly smooth for me. No lag what so ever. They need an acution house, that's the number 1 deal, and it's SE, they'll cave.

I'd like to get in on it now, regardless of any problems its currently having. I just enjoy the beginning of an MMO and growing with it. Might have to wait till PS3 release though. At least there'll be quite a few fixes and changes by the time PS3 release comes around.

Selling things can be a bit annoying since there's no central place to sell things. I guess just throw shit in your bazaar and cross your fingers.
