WoW Forums

Who moderates this?

Liasons have no moderator permissions for that forum, and I didn't think there was someone special assigned to it, so I'd have to say Sneakypants, Makelith, and Arctyrael.

Really, because I was told a while ago, (when reporting a post) that there were no mods so I was basically SOL and now threads are being deleted. Just wondering who it might be.

Admins and Global moderators have mod permissions anywhere they can see -- that's kind of the point of the titles. (We can not see the boards for which we are not members)

Topics disappearing? Might they have been PC +1 fests in which people may report for action to be taken? Its been known to happen.

Why does a "PC+1 fest" warrant attention while someone reporting for other valid reasons does not?

Probably differences on opinion would be my guess. Thematically, its not all too uncommon from what other portions of the board have experienced -- look at all the jobs boards and flameboard. However, I'm not sure you and I see eye to eye.

No sense in letting perfectly good threads be swamped in a sea of off topic threads.

Oh, I agree but when it comes to a PC+1 and an unprovoked flame(bait), I'd rather see the latter deleted lol.

Whoever reports that in a thread they didn't start, didn't post in, or doesn't concern(especially if it's a subforum that doesn't concern them) needs to have some sand surgically removed from their vaginas. It's gotta be embedded pretty deep for someone to do that. Post counts aren't srs biz here folks.

Well another thread was deleted entirely. This one included patch notes for this Tuesday. Seriously... why is someone who doesn't even playing WoW dictating what they believe are PC+1 threads? Just because they don't like the title? Stop deleting threads that have valid content.

I killed that last one. As your very first post in that thread predicted, it got deleted. I wouldn't even pay attention to that forum at all if it didn't get complaints. The complaint was that the thread was almost entirely BS. While there was a WoW link or 2 within, everything else seemed to be BS, as described in the complaint. When the thread is ~1 page (10 ppp) and most posts are BS, after receiving a complaint, I figured to just kill it before anyone got any dumber for reading or participating. My favorite post in the thread was, "Truck." Amazing.

Again, I'm not a stickler for deleting PC+1 or looking into any forum specifically, but if there's a report, I'll check to see if it holds water. And it wasn't entirely PC+1, but there's also plenty of room to be as dumb as anyone wants to be in PM, IM, email, etc. I would have never noticed how stupid the thread was if it wasn't reported.

If anything in there was so important or really driving conversation, then just repost it and don't encourage the kind of talk that you admit would get a thread tossed out.

So because 1 person is being silly, a thread gets deleted? I only knew it would get deleted because the thread/first post lacked content, so I posted something that had it.

If you have a problem with someone spam posting, take it up with that person, don't delete an entire thread and expect no one to notice.

That's all that was necessary to deal with it. I'll follow the example the leaders of the board give. I never expected nobody to notice and am quick to own up to it. I won't hide anything I do around here, lol.

Since folks should have a pretty good idea of what will and won't get deleted, especially with some fresh incidents, I'd suggest going forward and trying your best not to get a thread deleted. I know you gave 100%, Mire.

Unless my instructions or duties change, what's done is done.
Cheers.

That's understandable but it is also expected that if there are identical incidents in other forums, that the same thing happens to them. If a thread starts out with good meaning and deteriorates into complete BS, the thread is locked or the posts are deleted. Why not the same for if a thread starts out BS and then gains good posts?

I know it's probably a new thing because there have been an abundance of BS threads that haven't been deleted that didn't even have 1 good point in them.

I agree with that. I don't actively look at very many threads, however. Just don't have the time for that. So if you see something you'd like looked at, please report it, and it will get attention to that thread/post. I promise.

The original thread titled "Hey Mirewen" that was in the Lounge was deleted by me. The subject matter was something that rightfully belongs in PM or VM, not a thread. I noticed it was then recreated in WoW. I didn't go looking for it, but noticed the title down in the most recent threads section, and that title was pretty much the same as the one I had recently deleted in another area, so I looked at it. Sure enough, it was more of the same stuff that really belongs in PM or VM. Since I don't have any mod permissions in that area, I reported the post.

If I saw the OP was BS, I would put my content posts in a different thread instead of trying to save the thread.

I'm guessing that thread was deleted; someone made a shoutout thread, who gives a flying fuck?

The QCDN WoW Community is a community within itself, we all have our little inside jokes. Quit being so anal about things and leave our shit alone. Our boards are probably the most drama-free across the entire forum, and I'm pretty sure we can moderate it by ourselves.

Change our boards back to private if it's such a god damn problem reading topic names.

When it was posted in off-topic, it was deleted. When it was recreated in a public forum, it was a pretty cheeky move IMO. I agree it would be appropriate content in a private forum, but it isn't really appropriate to have a thread deleted for lack of content/pc+1 fest in one public area and then repost the same thread in another public area, even if that public area is WoW.

Everyone raise your hand if you care about your post count on an internet forum about a video game.

Give our private status back if you new moderators are going to be anal about shit like this.

When the boards were private, users within reported posts which caused the boards to become public. The private forums are no longer being handled since the social groups are out. If you want you can create a WoW social group and go from there. Or post on eachothers VMs or whatnot. But as for the forum itself, I'm guessing people want it content based instead of irrelevant posts.

The board is WoW, not B@WoW. There are countless other forums for shoutouts and "Attn:" topics. Which is more "serious business", deleting PC+1 topics or complaining about having them deleted? Note: I don't personally care what gets posted on that board since I don't look at it, but if it's admittedly just PC+1 nonsense then I see no fault with the topic(s?) being deleted.
