WoW Forums

I wasn't mod bashing, as was said in my OP I just wanted to know who was moderating the WoW forum because there have been posts with insults, flames etc. that I have reported in the past that I basically got the response "We don't moderate that" and now that I see posts/threads that I took part in being deleted it's more of a slap in the face because apparently it's ok to flame me for no reason meanwhile deleting my posts.

/runonsentence

This was back when the WoW forums were private. Since it wasn't public to people, the mod who first got the report pointed out it was a private forum and that the mod of that section would take care of it.

After another report came in from that area, I noticed that there was no mod set up for it and that was when we moved it to the public and that the rules still applied.

Don't think of it as a slap in the face, but rather your report brought the forums to the public arena. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing in everyone elses eyes but that's the beans.

It wasn't really private though. Anyone could just go in to the control panel, click the thread subscription box, and see it. It was set up to be hidden because people who weren't interested in WoW were crying about having to scroll past it back when the index page was a huge mess.

Mod status changes hands so often though, I guess it's no shocker that the staff at the time forgot or outright never knew about that.

Well, that's the point really. It was brought back up so that we could keep a better eye on the forum and so people didn't think they could go in the back and go wild.

Ignoring it back then because someone didn't have it set to show up for them seems more like a case of bad responsibility as a mod. "I'll moderate these forums, except the optional subforums I don't feel like seeing?"

Because we got a report when I was a global mod, I went and requested access for the WoW Boards. Even though it was set on private, its not like there was a secret password to join. I never played WoW and never cared to but I figured I could take at least take two seconds to look into the report, even though it was ultimately administration's decision on how to handle it. Just figured I'd note I went to see it even though I didn't feel like seeing it because it is "global" mod, right?

As far as this simple "Hi Mirewen" thread goes, it seems like people are really looking hard for things to do. I mean that on both sides. I'm not going to compare QCDN to REAL LIFE LAW or anything, but I guess I just saw the WoW area a little differently. I preferred it private and didn't give two shits what went on there. Not because I don't care about WoW, but because no crying or drama ever really came from it except for maybe one or two instances.

i just dont get why mods care about pc+1. i mean if something is offensive thats one thing, but even if someone posts "lol thats great" is that a pc+1 or are they giving feedback to someone?

this whole "lets squash all pc1" campaign, is allianating a lot of people.

Pc+1 raped my father and murdered my mother. ;~;

They were fine citizens in our community.

Of course it was a case of bad modding on my part. I was still fiddling with VB at the time and I was expanding the WoW forums to include 5 seperate forums. Then when that was shown to do nothing we moved it down to one and then they were just in the hidden LS area for a bit. Once the report came in, I fixed the mistake. I'm not gonna hide and say I didn't fuck up for it. The WoW forums should have never been made into a hidden LS forum.

See things like this I find funny, but also ironic that in a thread about PC+1 being deleted/reported… no one has deleted these. Which does lead me to believe that someone is just being a little bitch about the WoW forum.

Have you no shame about Myrrh's parents! Nevertheless, I see your point

but my shenanigans are funny shenanigans!

and myrrh and i were trying to make a point. things that are offensive and disgusting should not be moderated the same way as a pc+1.

"Please use the report feature, etc" is the likely answer to the first part of your response.

I still think whats even more retarded is that Leggo had to repost his deleted thread in the WoW area in the first place. Especially since the off-topic thread was posted in The Lounge which says OFF TOPIC in parenthesis right after it. Its not even under the FFXI category either, so the non-WoW thing is out the window from the get-go. Imo, it doesn't really matter if its a conversation more suited for PM or VM. If thats the case, better get the work gloves out because there's a ton of instances were two people talk one on one in threads. As a former mod, I know how annoying Leggo's posts can be sometimes in the wrong place. But this is like, come on.... its like looking way too hard for something to do.

Or, people need to be less butthurt about what they consider PC+1 posts in a subforum that they only browsed on a whim, just because they see Post Count as some golden value that must be increased only with well thought out and topically contributing posts. If that were the case, a lot of this forums activity wouldn't be going on because there certainly isn't a whole lot of well thought out posts being made, and even less topically contributing ones.

A bit late, but I really couldn't agree more with any other post in this thread.

This is pretty much the post of the thread. And people wondered why I kept you on as mod.
