i wonder will the seller give him back lol
That's always an interesting question. More often than not, the answer will be, "No."
OR
If you're fortunate enough to know the person that is the just made out big time at your expense, you can always plead your case and see what happens. Granted, the underlying argument/piece of advice is that it's your fault for accidentally selling or buying at an unintended price.
I remember just such an instance from a few years back, involving everyone's favorite "nice person", QCDN's beloved Faule.
First point to this is that it's not a flame. I didn't flame her then and I'm not flaming her now. This is nothing more than a true story to illustrate my point. If people want to create a whirlwind out of it, that's up to them and lies on their shoulders.
I had a good friend named Onaule, and Onaule was crafting Cerberus Mantles back when they were still a new item and very costly. I can't remember the exact amount they were going for. I also can't recall exactly what she mistakenly sold this one for that Faule ended up purchasing via low-balling. I'm pretty sure the going rate was ~15M, and the purchase price ended up being at least 10M less than that.
To the sentiment that so many would feel for Ona, and particularly to the point that she DID feel as a result of making this mistake, the thought of quitting the game enters one's head...Over a mistake.
As I said before, the ownership of pricing and purchasing is on the individual. The fact remains that massive mistakes can really upset someone.
Seeing my friend pained by her mistake upset me and others as well. Ona tried to briefly plead her money back, even just some of her money. The answer was no. Once I discovered it was Faule who benefitted from my friend's mistake, I figured since I knew her from the boards and she seemed to get consistant priase for being a "nice person", I tried PMing her here to explain the case further. After all, Faule didn't know Onaule...Not that it changes the situation any, but I can at least see that it's a more anonymous incident when you don't know the "victim" so to say, and it's easier not to empathize with the situation or person.
However, since I was coming to her as someone she knew and explaining the situation, especially since she was known to be so damn nice, I have to say I really expected us to be able to work something out, as reasonable people. Like I said before, Ona would have been happy working out a deal where she didn't even get the full difference back...But that didn't happen. No matter how I pleaded, my request fell on deaf ears. Langly was PMed as well, but this was ultimately Faule's decision not to budge in the slightest.
The closest thing to a reason for keeping all the money I got from her was something very close to, "I don't see why I should have to give any money back. I bid low and won. I felt like I won the lottery."
Mmmm'kay. That's great. Yet, when you find out what really happened, you know the people involved that are affected by the mistake, they try to strike a deal and make the situation beneficial for you while recovering only a portion of the money, and you're the "nice person"...Well, I guess I am a bit of an ass for assuming under those situations that people would at least be reasonable. I should have know that they only "could", not would. Not even the nicest of people.
Long story, short (too late!) that person that just dumped 9M into someone's pockets can expect nothing in return the vast majority of the time. Knowing people means nothing. "Nice person" means nothing. Reasonable explanations and trying to strike mutually beneficial solutions mean nothing.
Even "nice people" are greedy motherfuckers.
Somewhere...A bubble pops.
