So instead of putting the GD forum back where it's supposed to be, there's a whole new forum? Even if people start using this one, that won't change the fact that all of our past threads on FF will be in the wrong place.

And just what is the point in having two GD forums at all? That's what the OT forums are for. Is this an effort to make the forum less focused on FFXI? Because if I wanted a general forum, I'd go elsewhere.

Yeah man, what an asshole making a new forum that in no way really effects anyone. I mean shit all it does is keep the forum more organized. What a dick.

It would have been simpler and far more effective to move the GD forum back where it's supposed to be, which is what everyone wanted. Drystyn is being a little rude about it, but his question is perfectly valid; why was another forum made to hold the exact same topics as an already existing and widely used forum?

If the GD forum is going ot be non-XI, what's the point of off topic anymore? I'd like to hear Reeve's reasoning for this decision.

I know he's been sick or busy or whatever, but . . . People might have asked for some new forums and such, but did anyone want the forums moved around like this?

Even the forum description implies that people are just quitting all the time (also further confusing matters since those posts have typically gone in "Good Times".)

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Especially when we don't want the fixes.
 
I was one of those assholes. ; ; There were goodbye threads everywhere and it got a little ridiculous don't you think? <.<;

I am, I admit it. The fact is, I'm still a bit defensive and suspicious of an admin who is an outsider. Especially when they begin making changes nobody asked for that, intentional or not, de-emphasize the main subject of the board. Like it or not, the burden of proof usually falls on an outsider to a group to prove their good intentions.

I'd like to hear Reeve's reasoning for this decision.

This board sucks, end of story. This is General Discussion only not, and I'm not sure what General Discussion is anymore. o_O
 
omg its the epocylpse!!! The sky is falling, lets hide and cower in fear of the ubber leet!!

General Discussion has a mix of threads both on topic with ffxi and off topic. I created this forum to be soley on topic to ffxi so it can be a useful resource. ;) Not sure yet on whether to try and move the threads in gd into here and off topic or just one or the other or just close it as leave it as an archive or what just yet.

GD isnt suposed to have non-ffxi stuff in it. Thats suposed to be in Off Topic.

Also, as it stands now, you dont even see any FFXI boards when you load up the main page. The WoW board is above the FFXI boards on a FFXI site.

Wouldn't the more obvious solution had been to rename GD to "Anything FFXI", promote the FFXI section back up to the top, and then just been done? What is the point of a board that's both on and off-topic at the same time when there is a separate board for on-topic and for off-topic? Just makes no sense.

Thats what caught me too. everything else seems to be good ideas. but, as everyone else said, unless you mass move stuff from several forums, this one is destined to fail.

Agreed but it has a lot of OT stuff in there and as I said, I havent decided whether its better to move it or leave it just yet. The goal is to only have two forums set up the way they were originally meant to be - everything else is temporary.

Just changed it around a little thanks in part to a suggestion from Annabelle.

Why not put 2 forums at the top of all the other forums:

FFXI General Discussion

Off-Topic General Discussion

? I never go to the Off topic stuff cause that means I have to scroll down, and damn I'm too lazy for that.
 
Would have been better to move Generaly Discussion to "Anything FFXI" under the FFXI part, and changed the off topic board to general discussion.

Either way, you guys are overreacting WAY too much.
