WTF ...............

You'd think the fact that it's FOX news, would give it away. For Christ's sake.. it's fucking FOX, their own shows make fun of their network.

FOX is a joke.

American media is a wealth of extremes. On both spectrum's. My advice to anyone not living in the US, don't watch FOX News, it's shit.

I work at CFB Trenton, every time a soldier is killed they get shipped here and the Repatriation ceremony is held here. Then to Toronto for autopsies. The 401 highway from Trenton to Toronto is dubbed the highway of heroes due to the fact that every fallen soldier takes that trip. Yesterday 4 soldiers returned in caskets and yet there are scum fucking dick heads that seem to think its a joke. It makes me want to vomit.

Out of the 116 that have been killed I personally knew 2 of them. 3 more of my friends are over there as we speak. I know people that have been on 5 tours over the past 4 years. Each tour is 6-8 months long, at the very minimum they have been in that sand box for 2.5 years out of 4. They deserve a fuckin break. What about thier families?

All I have to say is fuck the ignorant sons-of-bitches who have their heads stuck so far up their asses to realize that we're losing our men and women the same as everyone else, every other country that has their SOLDIERS in the line of fire fighting for their country.

I'm tried as shit hearing the BS about Canada lacking military force, it's a narrow minded uneducated opinion, arrogant and ignorant.

Sorry, no one can salt our military better than Canadians themselves, guess what fuckers we get the jokes!

Thanks for the slap in the face.

BTW ~ I'm sure RED was looking to get some free publicity, there ya go, you can have it, shame on you I hope you're shut down.

*** when the rest of the world including Canadians and allies alike start making light of the affect American Soldiers have made and contributing their lives then maybe those that feel we're being too uptight about such insults will finally get it. This following the latest deaths was not only extremely bad timing but the needle... enough is enough, it's gotten pretty old.

At least you're still ahead of France.

Yea. Don't want or appreciate our help, don't fucking ask for it. Glad that they can make light of the Canadians that have died, because death is so funny. Especially when they're sitting there, comfortably sipping their latte's.

Until the deaths of Canadian soldiers killed in Afghanistan, probably almost no one outside their home country had been aware that Canadian troops are deployed in the region.

And as always, Canada will bury its dead, just as the rest of the world, as always will forget its sacrifice, just as it always forgets nearly everything Canada ever does.. It seems that Canada 's historic mission is to come to the selfless aid both of its friends and of complete strangers, and then, once the crisis is over, to be well and truly ignored.

Canada is the perpetual wallflower that stands on the edge of the hall, waiting for someone to come and ask her for a dance. A fire breaks out, she risks life and limb to rescue her fellow dance-goers, and suffers serious injuries. But when the hall is repaired and the dancing resumes, there is Canada, the wallflower still, while those she once helped glamorously cavort across the floor, blithely neglecting her yet again.

That is the price Canada pays for sharing the North American continent with the United States, and for being a selfless friend of Britain in two global conflicts.

For much of the 20th century, Canada was torn in two different directions: It seemed to be a part of the old world, yet had an address in the new one, and that divided identity ensured that it never fully got the gratitude it deserved.

Yet it's purely voluntary contribution to the cause of freedom in two world wars was perhaps the greatest of any democracy. Almost 10% of Canada 's entire population of seven million people served in the armed forces during the First World War, and nearly 60,000 died. The great Allied victories of 1918 were spearheaded by Canadian troops, perhaps the most capable soldiers in the entire British order of battle.

Canada was repaid for its enormous sacrifice by downright neglect, it's unique contribution to victory being absorbed into the popular Memory as somehow or other the work of the 'British.'

The Second World War provided a re-run. The Canadian navy began the war with a half dozen vessels, and ended up policing nearly half of the Atlantic against U-boat attack. More than 120 Canadian warships participated in the Normandy landings, during which 15,000 Canadian soldiers went ashore on D-Day alone.

Canada finished the war with the third-largest navy and the fourth largest air force in the world. The world thanked Canada with the same sublime indifference as it had the previous time.

Canadian participation in the war was acknowledged in film only if it was necessary to give an American actor a part in a campaign in which the United States had clearly not participated - a touching scrupulousness which, of course, Hollywood has since abandoned, as it has any notion of a separate Canadian identity.

So it is a general rule that actors and filmmakers arriving in Hollywood keep their nationality - unless, that is, they are Canadian. Thus Mary Pickford, Walter Huston, Donald Sutherland, Michael J. Fox, William Shatner, Norman Jewison, David Cronenberg, Alex Trebek, Art Linkletter and Dan Aykroyd have in the popular perception become American, and Christopher Plummer, British.

It is as if, in the very act of becoming famous, a Canadian ceases to be Canadian, unless she is Margaret Atwood, who is as unshakably Canadian as a moose, or Celine Dion, for whom Canada has proved quite unable to find any takers.

Moreover, Canada is every bit as querulously alert to the achievements of its sons and daughters as the rest of the world is completely unaware of them. The Canadians proudly say of themselves - and are unheard by anyone else - that 1% of the world's population has provided 10% of the world's peacekeeping forces.

Canadian soldiers in the past half century have been the greatest peacekeepers on Earth - in 39 missions on UN mandates, and six on non-UN peacekeeping duties, from Vietnam to East Timor, from Sinai to Bosnia.

Yet the only foreign engagement that has entered the popular non-Canadian imagination was the sorry affair in Somalia, in which out-of-control paratroopers murdered two Somali infiltrators. Their regiment was then disbanded in disgrace - a uniquely Canadian act of self-abasement for which, naturally, the Canadians received no international credit.

So who today in the United States knows about the stoic and selfless friendship its northern neighbour has given it in Afghanistan?

Rather like Cyrano de Bergerac, Canada repeatedly does honourable things for honourable motives, but instead of being thanked for it, it remains something of a figure of fun. It is the Canadian way, for which Canadians should be proud, yet such honour comes at a high cost. This past year more grieving Canadian families knew that cost all too tragically well.

I don't get the quip about Canadian Actors/filmmakers "becoming American".

I was under the impression that it isn't a secret that most of the great comedy of the late 20th century came from Canada, and that up until the 1990s essentially, one *had* to come to Hollywood in order to make it big.

Sure there are lines that can be crossed. The question is were these people mocking specifically the dead soldiers or the Canadian military in general? Because that's a pretty big difference and I didn't watch the whole video because it was long and not particularly funny.

True but fox didn't do the research, it's one thing to mock people on a personal level. It's quite another to mock a people on an international level without even taking 10 minutes of your time to find out exactly what you're mocking. So as such i think that at the very least as a news organization they should have done the research. Of course this is fox news so no such thing would be expected by anyone whom see's patterns.

Also. imagine my previous statement being said seriously instead of a "joking" manner. Imagine I was actually mocking the people that died as part of the joke. The shock and outrage that would result would be an epic level shitstorm.

As an example look at what happened to the Dixie chicks when they said they were ashamed of BUSH and his rush to war. If one little statement can have such a huge impact and resulting bitchfest when in retrospect it was a case of "only sane person in the room" imagine how bad things can get when the statements have no real moral or logical justification.
The canadians have a RIGHT to be pissed off. Over a century of quite literally saving the world and they get to see thier dead be mocked?
Bermuda has guns that break apart into their component parts when you cock them and it is my humble opinion that we are safe from invasion because the US would mistake any attacks on us as an attack on them. If any military needs to be made fun of it's the one in my country

What I say is we keep stepping in to lend a hand when needed and voluntarily... we suffer the same loses, are shrugged off and mocked and get no credit for what we've contributed. So our lost are for what? My great uncle died in war for what purpose? WTF are my friends going to war for.. ? So after this NEXT mess that we did not have a hand in creating is cleaned we can go back to being put down and made fun of for our lack of.. "balls". Our Soldiers are like every other Soldier.. regardless of what country you're fighting out of, a Soldier is a Soldier and their dedications and lives should not be taken for granted.

Common knowledge to you maybe because you're informed. I still get "WUT THERE'S NOWAI JIM CARREY IS FROM CANADA!"

Oh yea this is pretty true.

However, it's the dumbasses or those that don't have any interest.

What I see is that they're like... stolen from us lol.. they're ADOPTED Americans because they're some of our most talented.

Thank GOD (god = KD) we have so many others that won't do the mainstream Mtv/Holly Wood thing.

The only problem I see with the whole thing is that Canadians are directing their anger to the wrong people: The general American population. We have the right to be pissed off because the jokes were in bad taste and at bad timing, but we cannot be angry at Americans.

I don't blame or hate Americans, and neither should the rest of the country. The focus of their anger should be on the individuals that didn't research and ignorantly mocked something they had no idea about.

I'm not going to quote myself. My very first post in here was an outburst directed toward the individuals that harbor those thoughts. I'm not mad at Americans.. I'm mad at specific Americans, the one's who are ignorant and uneducated but opinionated.

Can't speak for everyone else but those on Facebook etc.. they're all boycotting RED / Fox itself for this. Naturally.

Yeah Canada, what's this talk of taking breaks to reoutfit your tanks? You should recklessly throw your underequipped military to the front lines like real Americans. FUCK YEAH.

lol. You silly.

And no, it's not all Americans, but the whole 'lolcanada' thing grates on the nerves after a little while and it's not just that one "news" broadcast that is guilty of it. Calling us America Jr. or America's hat or America's little brother makes it sound like we need taking care of or that we are insignificant, when that's just not true.

I was talking about the general feeling in Canada. I heard on the CFRB radio how angry people were, and even the radio hosts were saying "the anger is misdirected at Americans, when it shouldn't be".

Come on now, though, it's not like the American military never gets made fun of. The difference is it is for different reasons. All in all though... the reason Canada is called America Jr is not just the shared border. It's a general shared society.

You speak the same language, eat the same food, have a near identical culture... it's like going into another state. Why get upset over that? It's fucking convieniant. I don't need to learn a new language to go up north and ski. So you're not the center of attention? Neither is Norway. Plus they wake up every morning and are Norweigian. So it could be worse.

Lol what are you talking about? Canada isn't asking to be the centre of attention or anything.

We recognize the similarities of our culture and society. The point is, if a Canadian comedian made a bad taste joke about 911, you guys would nuke us. This joke was in completely bad taste and bad timing. He made a joke about the military, specifically the Afghanistan mission where we have lost 116 soldiers since it began in 2002. On Monday we just had 4 bodies come back. That is why Canadians are pissed.

I agree, Canadians should not be pissed off at Americans, and they shouldn't be for not just this case, but for any other case. We shouldn't bash or hate you. We are very similar and there is no reason for us to hate you. What really annoys us, and was demonstrated by this parody newscast or whatever the show is, is that you guys seem to be pretty ignorant about what goes over here, where we actually make an effort to know what is going on with you guys.
