X360 worth it?

Sculli, sorry to tell you but Oblivion runs poorly on xbox too... sometimes the frame rate slows down a lot and it sucks. It's beautiful, when u stop moving, but when u move in the middle of a forest with trees (and thousands of nice looking leaves on them...), forget it, you get 5 fps even on xbox. Maybe PC is better, I have no idea ><

Kalendor is right. My little brother is way over the bottom specs for Oblivion and I have him running on Omega Drivers too, the game looks amazing when you arent moving, but it gets pretty choppy when you get in a fight or in some of the more scenic areas.

I guess I should ask about Oblivion before looking into buying it.

Is it a single player RPG, or is it like FFXI?

I can't play it at 1900x1280, but I can play it at lesser resolutions with less gfx. I am keeping it.

Now to save up for that 7900gtx sli setup ..., ah ..., one can dream.

7800 GTX 512 is way more powerful then 7900 GTX 512, 7900 give you move clock/core speed i believe, and 7800 GTX give you more graphic power, had to go work now >< i'll post link on compare spec later, but i think you can find in www.vr-zone.com, i think 7800 GTX 512 is still more expenive then 7900 GTX512 atm, i remember before 7900 release 7800 GTX512 was ummm $700-$800 i think lol

Get BFG Geforce 7900 GTX 512MB PICE, BFG always overclock their stuff :P

EDIT:

Btw, you gonna need a 650+ Watt power supply to run 7900 GTX SLI, and nvidia nforce4x16 SLI motherboard or something like that 2 card, just to let you know >.> and need 1 GHZ ram to run good

The specs are all nice, the issue isn't so much what hardware would be needed, it's that said hardware will easily set me back some $2,500-ish (cards, mobo, psu, cpu, ram, etc), and I am in no mood to spend that kind of cash on a computer that will be old in a couple months.

I'll just play Oblivion on my laptop as is and dream of playing it at 1920x1200 with max details. ;)

I don't know should i get Oblivion >.>

I've played it for both XBox 360 & PC at some friends.... Ya it's interesting, but several easily noticeable flaws deter me from buying or renting it.

Wrong.
The 360 is awsome its friend list features and gamerscore make it even funner
I dont think any system is better than the other Rev/ps3/360 all are awsome
I kill fanboys not saying your one though
*stabs a sony fanboy*
feels the knife pierce his heart....
I dislike the Xbox line because i know for a fact all really good Xbox games will come out for the PC soon enough and the whole first system sold on a game i felt was drastically over-rated(halo, which was more hyped for less reason than the blair witch project. decent game, not on par with many other games.).
Sony has a headstart because of their contracting and their great selection and planning for the games department. they get rights to a large majority of the really good games and make their following out of Game types and content types the other systems tend to avoid. Nintendo took the Kiddier route with it as sad as it is to say, and that was their first, worst mistake that really MADE a market for other consoles.
Higher end graphics or processing power mean nothing if you don't have great games to back it. Microsoft will never alienate their pc market by leaving them out of the great titles they own rights to making buying the consoles a big waste of cash for anyone with a high end computer... assuming you can stand waiting for them to release it on pc.

It is a good idea to wait until more titles are released before making your decision to put so much money into one system. My fiancee bought one and he spends alot of time on it, but he is really limited when it comes to his game selection. He will wait months for a good game to be released, and to this date he only has 2 games.

I give him a "wtf are you doing??" look everytime I see him play some arcade game on it when he could just play a free game on the internet on our PC, but that's his choice. He has Oblivion and he really likes it - the characters are awesome looking. Today he bought Kingdom Hearts, which he is playing right now & it looks alright. I'm sure he would have more insight on the subject, but he isn't a regular on the forums and all you get is my crappy response.

actually, the majority of arcade games are pretty good, and most of them cost more money to download them onto your computer (example: Wiks: Fable of Souls) and even then, they have extra content and goodness.

check out gamespot.com, THey gave oblivion a 9.3 for the PC version, and 9.6 for the 360 version. Having played both, i agree with 360 feeling slightly better to play...especially with the laundry list of problems i found with pc version that i had to go to website and read a long guide to fix them all >.>

Twice.

Over Over-clocked one.

Tested the flamability of Dell vs. HP towers after my brother fried both motherboards somehow. I blamed his excessive porn habits and I think I've scared him away from the sites for a while lol.

I heard a report of Microshaft closing their service hotlines after 360 release for a while because they KNEW every unit had a critical design flaw but shipped anyway because they wanted to beat Sony to the markets. And I know for a fact, from a friend who works at FYE, that their second shipment after the initial release is only half that of the initial one. Which means that the price won't be dropping any times soon. And they probably still have all the problems that people were experiencing from the first batch.

Last night my friend asked me if I had a 360 sicne he was thinking of getting one. What I told him was that the 360 is basically a more powerful xbox, lots of flash but no really great games. At least the original had halo to pull it up to a very distant 2nd place over nintendo, but there isn't really one 'killer app' on the 360 just yet.

The best thing to do is follow Zaliska's (and if anyone else suggested, too lazy to check) advise, and wait until theres a good game on the 360. Until then, it just a vertical xbox that can't play all the xbox games.

GameCube outsold Xbox worldwide by a small margin. Not the other way around.

Oh and PD Zero sucks (RIP Rare).

If you make that kind of pure generalisation then Im sorry to say, you are a fanboy.
