XBox 360 isn't that good...

Wow man I'm definatly going to go ahead here and say this is the most utter bag of shit I've ever smelled. I work full time, pay bills, go to school, and I pay for my on school (haven't taken a single loan to date). How can you say college kids aren't responsible or mature when there are tons of them like me out there? Yea, there are a bunch of kids who waste mommy and daddies money and drink down the years and party but goddamn don't you dare judge the whole community of us off them. There are also kids like me who choose to drink etc. but they still get shit done.

Thank you, you made my point. You don’t like me tossing generalization. Statically in the last 5 years more adults are playing games than teens across all platforms. There are statically more adults playing on PS2 than teens, but you choose to make a generalization based simple on a smaller number of teens who makes asses of them selves in the game. Most PS2er you don’t even know are playing on PS2 and there where annoying teens in the game even before the US PS2 release.

Ask around... pre PS2 US release > PS2 to present in terms of immature acts and mpking. That was all I was trying to drive. Maybe now that this generation has aged they cater to us but I find it hard to believe more kids own PC than adults and the fact of how mature the game was pre U.S. PS2 release then after. PC has more, imo, adult based games especially in the adventure section (ex: myst, syberia etc.) and traditional rpg's than console so it seems they cater to a more mature audience. Though to counter my own statment PC does release a lot of FPS which is popular amongst the H.S. people. I just know this. I live in Dallas and everytime I go to a CPU convention or huge lan it's adults in the majority. When there are console tourneys good god at the kids attending (not saying it's a bad thing). The stats use to show majority of games being catered to teens but I guess as we grow older they consider that and cater to us and the younger.

I'd like to add though. My comment of the CPU players being older because more older people play PC games to Console games holds true in that survey... 18-35+ years old = 66% So my argument was correct...I just looked at your surveys and noticed that.

I agree. I even made a thread about it awhile ago. Best fighting game I have played to date.

On topic: I am very excited for all three of the next-gen consoles, and will probably purchase them. However; I am scared for Nintendo's future....

There have been some very good posts with good points (Asiamise being my favorite), but this thread is filled with people who have the worst case of "tunnel-vision".

I understand that it is everyone's right to express themselves, but at least back up what you say. It starts to irritate me when people throw in their "Ysystem>Zsystem" or "FF ON SONY PRODUCTS ONRY" garbage. Even the "specs war" cannot be 100% accurate because; as stated before, these measurements are not set in concrete and are subject to change. For Christ's sake, the consoles aren't even out yet! Who knows what the develpers decide to change before the consoles are released...

This thread was irritating, so I apologize for my rant. This was basically a more calm version of what Dirgesong posted. :x

No thanks.
And why does the PS3 own everything else? Its not even out yet. I dont care at all about the system specs. saying one system is better than another is dumb specially if you have not played it yet. No matter what Sony makes for the PS3, it will not even touch Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

You have a lot of nerve saying someone is "dumb" because they are giving their opinion. Not only that, but by only quoting them partially just to make a weak statement about something that you are obviously not understanding in the first place. The FYI wasn't for you it was for the person above who obviously is ignorant to the fact that "A LOT" is two words. So keep your mindless and nonetheless pointless quotes to yourself if you can not grasp what was intended. If that is not to hard for you to do.

Off the top of my head these "reasons" come to mind:
1. look at the title of this post note that obviously its not for the Xbox fanboys
2. Consoles are superior in my opinion due to several reasons.
a. You do not get viruses on a console
b. You get hardware that lasts a long time. The developers stick with what hardware they have to work with and therefore unlike PC's you dont have to go out and buy completely new models everytime a new game comes out or new hardware ... i.e. video cards.
c. Etc for whatever I have left out at the moment (trying to keep this short >< )
3. what do the other consoles really have that stack up against the diversity of PS? (if someone mentions Halo or Halo 2 I think I'll puke then mutter about Killzone 2)
4. etc etc etc

^^ you are funny^^ I know what you are saying but I like pissing people who feel they need to bring to light others grammer mistakes. ^^ I cant grasp what you said? oooookkkkkkkkkk. All you said was "And by the way PS3> all (including PC) until further notice" WOW! Soo amazingly fucking deep. /bow. You are saying this about someting that like Swisshie ponited out might be total bullshit. Im not saying that it is, im just saying that maybe its not all that it says it is. I gave my opinoion on stuff that I have actually PLAYED, not looked at on a screen or watched the demos. And for the record, say whatever you want about me, I dont give a fuck^^

I agree that more adults own PC than kids, I’m speaking strictly of hard-core gamers, who have 5000.00 plus rigs. As far as I know there is no industries stat on it, I’m simple basing that on my personal experience. That is based on the number of high end gaming systems I’ve built for people, the sheer number of kids on the mod and OC forums and events I’ve attended. The events where dominated by adults, but the nicest PC where all owned by 15-16 year olds. Though these events where all geared towards FPS games thou.

For the record I’m not a Square-Enix fanboy. I’m a Square Soft fan boy.

When all is said and done it comes down to the quality of games of course. I bought a Playstation just for the simple fact that FF7 was on it exclusively (at the time). Basically the games sell the console. Had Squaresoft put it out on a Nintendo product I might have never bought a Playstation in the first place.

I base my Opinion on the future consoles on this. I don't see (so far) anything that will be coming out on the XBOX 360 or Nintendo Revolution (not much known about this at this time anyway) to make me want to buy either one of them. The games I see coming down the line for Sony however reinforce my Opinion that Sony consoles> all.

I have a PC I used for College. I also spent 4 years on it playing EQ1. Actually I upgraded PC's once during that time. However, due to my financial constraints I have been forced to forgoe any kind of upgrading at this time to play any current generation games on my PC. I just don't have the spare cash to spend on upgrading my video card which is all I really need to do. I guess I am holding out for them to drop in price to where I can afford one.

In the meantime I'm back on my Playstation 2 playing games like FFXI and Star Ocean (damn this is a long game) and when I just want to hack and slash I got my Champions of Norrath 1&2 :) The quality and diversity of the titles on the Playstation 2 have just been better this generation. Who knows but the real insiders what the other two companies are planning. But, if they really want to chip away at what Sony has done they really need to work on their game titles and quality of such.

Sir! I /salute you!

Final fantasy was almost exclusively a nintendo published product, all the game boy varations, consoles back in the day, all FF up to 6 were released on nintendo. You need to trail back a bit before the days of playstation son =]

And it threw a wrench in the nintendo fan's faces when they announced FF7 on the playstation. Despite it was still a decent game.

Haha, same thought here, yay!!!!

But I know what I'm buying already.

Ms and sony with handful of exceptions but not tons seem to share a very large portion of 'worthwhile' games. There are exceptions, exclusve giants on only one of the systems, but all and all...They're making the same kind of games directed at the same exact people. Neither one is trying provide something vastly different incomparion to the other. Even their major sellers such as MGS,Halos, MS racing games, platform games, and others are vastly similar. You can get pretty much the same experience on either system overall.

This is not to say I don't like the PS or MS experience, but if you experience one...you're experiencing much of the other with a different controller. So in conclusion I'll probably stick with a PS3 simply because I like their exclusives more than MS's few dynamite exclusives. Although the idea of a 'dynamite' exclusive is all in the mind of the consumer, and to me I feel the companies have too similar approaches to the consumer to warrent buying both.

I'm part Nintendo fanboy too, but I do have my reasons, well 2 major reasons really. These 2 reasons will speak for why I'm going to buy the next nintendo no matter what.

1. My favorite controller are always from nintendo, not too big, too small, they're made with comfort yet accessiblity. I find them to be ideal, but this must vary between consumers, but I never heard a complaint about GCN controller, even from nintendo haters.

2. First party games- There is no system built so heavily around first party games without contest. To me this is good because I can get something from my nintendo system I can never get from the others. Of course all the console do and will have their own special trademarks, but none other like nintendo obviously. So if I buy a Nintendo revolution, I KNOW for a FACT I'll be getting something drastically different from the other two which are attempting to do the same thing overall in terms of the games. I'm not spending money for a similar system with a different controller with nintendo.

In summary, if I buy nintendo and either ps3 or xbox360, I can potienally experience about 80-85% of the worthwhile gaming market due to more variety, as opposed to just 66%.

I don't have that much faith is the future profits of nintendo, but I buy their systems because I enjoy them, not because I want to automatically conform with everyone else.

Apparently your browser doesnt support / translate what my point was or you just half assed read what I wrote. If you had paid attention I did not say anything about FF1-6 I stated that I bought a playstation because they put FF7 on it and That's it! I mentioned nothing about the obvious fact that every game prior to FF7 that was in that franchise came out on a Nintendo product. So "Son" please go back and read it completely. Thank you.

What makes me buy a game and keep playing it is storyline, gameplay, creativity, difficulty and fun. Most games these days are a lil easy to beat which is a problem. Usually when I buy a game, i play it and play it and play it... and then it gets old... Specs of a console don't persuade me at all to buy a console since by the time its true potential starts to show the next next-gen systems are underway. When I play a game, you better have replay value as well. Your game can have the best graphics in the world and sound to boot. Couldn't really care much about that. If I beat your awesome graphics/sound game and there was really nothing to it besides that, then it's probably going to collect dust in the closet. It's like saying why don't people goto WoW instead of FFXI... from the naked eye it seems WoW has better graphics and sound, but why do people stick with playing FFXI over WoW? Why do some people think games on the old 16 or 32 bit systems are better than the current generation games we play now?

Each console have good things and bad things about it. But it seems as if nintendo is taking a different approach to get buyers while Microsoft and Sony are heading down the same path against each other. IMHO I think nintendo has the creativity to create eye-opening games but lack the good graphics in making their games. You have to bring something new and innovative to bring people to your console and games IMHO. Look what happened when punch-out and mario bros came out for NES, mariokart, zelda 3, and super metroid came out for SNES, sonic for sega, halo for xbox, and ff7 for psx. Those games brought new things that console gamers liked and they were well loved.

If you don't have something 'new' and 'different' in your games, then it's just like any other game. Something had in the game made you fall in love with it, otherwise... for example, FFX-2 should be more loved than FF7 or MarioKart DD should be more loved than mario kart for SNES, and is Halo 2 'truly' better than Halo 1? What we as people probably hate the most that has to do with this is creating the same exact game but sticking a different label on it: It's the same exact game, but with a different name.

What next-gen system I will 'get' is probably nintendo's though, but I'm sure my friends will get th x360 or ps3 so it's not like i'll be missing out on anything. All nintendo needs is 3rd party support, games for the more adult age group, and to up their eye-candy in gamesy. They have all the other parts to make a successful game down like creativity and innovation. I'm a lil worried about the other system... It's almost like their flexing their muscles with them showing you their specs which probably won't even matter in the long run.

It seems that this next generation will be focused on online play. And smash bros 3 has got me sold right now. At the moment right now, nintendo is going down a shaky road because of what they did with gamecube. GC had the best capability out of all the systems for this generation.. why didn't it succeed as good as xbox and ps2? I think their controller wasn't suited for fighting games, which is why you didn't see many on the system and they lost a lot of their older audience because of kiddy-like content on most of their games. I also think nintendo's prob is trying to make each game they come out with suited for EVERY audience instead of making games that appeal to certain types of audiences. But that's just my opinion of course.

I give props to sony for not dropping ps2 when ps3 comes out unlike microsoft and their xbox which is finally getting into its own potential. Xbox imho needs another 'game' that will keep it going strong like how halo 1 did for xbox. xbox live is nice but i bet the other consoles could come up with something like that if they wanted and they may too. If that happens... then xbox will be in big trouble. I would just wait until we see the launch games for each system though just to see if any console is gonna fail or not. xbox is gonna have the early advantage in sales tho since it is gonna come out first.... But look what happened to Dreamcast... Nintendo is fearing people copying its ideas and etc so they're keeping secret... that's good and bad for reasons you can probably figure out on your own so i won't elaborate... (i wonder how their controller is gonna look like tho...) I think PS3 and Nintendo will do just fine. Nintendo won't do as good just because they're keeping everything too secret I think and make gamers worry. PS3 will be at the top the way they're handling things. Xbox 360 won't do as good as it should just because they leaked out so much information on it and I think the games won't meet up to the player's expectations.

Sorry for ranting this long, but I'm done now... REJOICE!!!

I doubt that'd ever happen. And if Zelda is on PC...it's because of Emulators.

I always wonder why people bothered to take a chance purely based on FFVII. Did people see the commercial, comprised solely on all the FMVs of the game basically, and say, damn...that's a good game because the FMVs looked so awesome? I never did figure out why people just were drawn based on the commercial. Don't get me wrong, FFVII was a good game but I guess they marketed it well because everyone seemed drawn in by the commercial..

MS will never have the following of Sony just because of the poor media, and half-assed design of a controller. That is the number 1 complaint I hear about XBOX and I agree, that damn controller is so awkward to use, it's like you need all 10 fingers to play, and you still need to use your face to do the steering. (On a side note, who remembers that code from Shadows of the Empire on nint 64? The one where you had to hold all buttons and move the joystick, you had to have 2 people or use your face, lol)

To this I say...

Of course, I prefer the first one over the second. I could play games with my feet!

no matter what u do your not going to change their minds.. yes i agree id rather have it not realessed on xbox 360 or ninten rev. but they will make more money so naturally there goin to do it.

I'm not going to get a 360. Despite my hatred of microsoft, I was not impressed with the xbox. One of my friends gave the best review I'd ever heard for it: "Xbox has 3 good games and 2 of them start with Halo." Xbox didn't have any good rpg's(the 3-5 it actually had weren't all that great), it basically stuck to sports games and some FPS games.

When I get together with my friends, the console that we use 90% of the time is my game cube. Nintendo's games are more marketed to younger gamers, but that doesn't change the fact that they're fun. PS2 and Xbox don't have nearly enough good multiplayer games for 4 people. Sure, they have some racing and fps games, but that's about it. We normally play games like Mario Kart: Double Dash, Mario Party 6, Naruto 3, Mario Tennis, Smash Brothers, and a bunch of other games that don't contain a bunch of gore and hardcore violence, but are still fun as hell.

Oh, and I really like that despite not showing anything for the revolution, it still got more interest than the 360, and that's coming from an exit poll at the end of E3.

I'm expecting the next-gen consoles to play out like the current ones do. Nintendo will be for parties, PS3 for solo, and 360 will get sports.

Agreed except for Knights of the Old Republic... Which you can also get on the PC. I own a X-box, and I own 4 games for it... I would just as soon go out and spend 50 bucks on an old school RPG that they ported to PS2 from another system then say, the latest greatest FPS.

For me the PS3 is my happy place. That being said I know the X-box 360 is looking to get some RPGs onto it, luckily for me my lil bro is Microsoft's bitch, one of the biggest Halo nuts ever. Check out his stats sometime, name Jonason. (Same as in FF XI)

Question... has anyone actually seen some of Nintendo's slogans?

Fourplay - for some of the mario golf games
Touching is Good - for the DS.

Are those slogans for kids? I don't know..... Sabia knows more about the slogans. I was just wondering if anyone else has noticed some of these slogans.

Well, I mean they're more oriented towards kids in that they're not overly violent and with no sexual overtones, neither of which is required for a good game. But yeah, those do sound kinda odd when you think about them.

What kind of message are parents sending if they buy their kids these systems/games? I want my kids to learn about fourplay (foreplay*) and despite what I've told them about strangers, they need to learn "touching is good".

Will SOMEBODY think of the CHILDREN?
