Saturday I received a call and found out I won an Xbox360 from a raffle I entered. I'm so happy because basically I got a 360 for only $5. What games would you recommend for the 360. I haven't really kept up w/the games it has because I was planing on getting a PS3 but as fate has it I won a free xbox. I really like RPGs Strat RPGs and Space Simulators. I plan on getting GTAIV but not right away. It came with 2 games Forza 2 and Marvel ultimate Alliance.

You have to pay x amount of MS points to be able to change your gamer tag, i'm not sure how much it is, just because i've never had to do it. It would probably just be easier, and a lot cheaper, to just buy a year card off e-bay or something for like $25 as soon as your month of free gold is up to get the right gamer tag.

Blue Dragon is a decent RPG that plays like an old SNES RPG. It's nothing amazing, but you can get it for cheap.

I don't believe mine came with a free month of gold so I signed up. What are MS points? How do you obtain them? What else can they be used for? I'm still trying to learn about the xbox360 so I'm sorry for being such a noob about these things. I'd look this info up on xbox.com but I am at work and can't access that site atm.

There's a video on youtube that says if you can get 30 people or more to file a complaint against your gamertag it will allow you to change it for free... I don't plan on trying this but that's what the video says..

They're like the Wiipoints that Nintendo uses. Instead of doing direct cash transactions, you buy points and then spend those points at the online store. You can either buy the points through xbox live with a credit card or go to a Gamestop and buy a points card using whatever means you want. It's an extra step to buy something, but it lets them reach a much larger audience.

Mass Effect is a very good space opera RPG/shooter. I definitely recommend it. Lost Odyssey is also good; it may as well have been called Final Fantasy: Lost Odyssey.

You can't go wrong with The Orange Box or Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, although they're multiplatform.

Along with the Forza2 and UA that came with it (I have both and LOVE them) I concur with Halif and recommend Mass Effect. I got it for Chistmas and was more engroosed with that game than any I've played in a very long time.

If it is a new system than it comes with a free trial to gold. Baj already explained MS points, but didn't mention a few things that are fairly important. Retail points only come in 1600 and 4000 points, where as you can buy them in different blocks using XBL. Also, the points *almost* never equal out well and you will have some points left over.

Oblivion is another great game and it should be decently cheap now since it has been out so long. If you can, grab the Game of The Year edition. It comes with the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine additional content for a really good price.

Also another game that you may want to pick up is Viva Pinata. Its not an RPG or anything, but i've put more time in to that game than i have a lot of other ones, and its still been with me since launch.

Yes, i'm being very serious.

The only difference is it's alot easier to have left over Wii Points than Microsoft Points, since Microsoft atleast has a semi-uniform pricing and point purchasing structure. Atleast, until WiiWare goes active outside of Japan.

Mass Effect has better replayability than Halo and Gears though. Not to mention, more reason to do it outside of "Play on this unlocked difficulty for more points!" Silly Gears of War. Sure, it has that reason too, but you can only get a maximum of 2 companion achievements per play, and theres 6 of them. And theres like a dozen ending combination dialogues

The problem is Mass Effect was just so boring for me. I never actually finished it through a single playthrough. I got maybe 10 hours in or so... but the gameplay wasn't fun to me, and the story wasn't interesting me. The dialogue was so intricate yet cold and technical, while the characters never seemed to show a single emotion. It just never clicked for me at all, and I'm a pretty big sci-fi fan.

If you get past the first boring levels of Halo 3 and Gears of War, you're pretty much going to be filled with adrenaline all the way to the end of the game. Can't say the same for Mass Effect, and I really wanted to like it, it's the actual reason I bought a 360.

I just skimmed through the thread so if I list any that have already been listed oh well.

1) Call of Duty 4 if you don't have it for PS3/PC

2) Dead Rising it was fun and I think it's only 20 bucks now.

3) More endorsement for Lost Odyssey

4) Halo 3 or Gears so you have variety if you tire out of CoD4.

5) Assassin's Creed is rentable but I enjoyed it for the one play through. Gets very repetitive though.

More support for Lost Odyssey, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect and Blue Dragon.

Personally I'd stay away from Eternal Sonata. It's a run of the mill RPG, and the only things that make it special get stripped away as the game goes on. It starts out really strong, but then tapers off as the game goes on.

I just bought a 360 with a copy of Naruto: Rise of a Ninja & Eternal Sonata. I plan on getting Lost Odyssey soon.

Thanks Everyone for all the info. I def want to check out lost odyssey and maybe even Mass Effect...Has anyone played Dark Messiah of Might & Magic Elements? How is this game? Is it worth playing or a waste of money and time?

The 360 version is apparently a semi-stripped down version of the PC game, which wasn't that great to begin with. There are no skill trees or individual development, instead there is a class system that you just advance through.
