This game was awesome, definately one of my all time favorites.

As bad as II was this was just as good. Loved the Story, the game play and the music was awesome as well.

Just wish it had more side content is all, but it was awesome, made me think back to my days playing Xenogears.

As bad as II was this was just as good.

Putting it that way, it wasnt super awesome great because II was that bad ;P

As far as II was to awful lol, III is that far the other way to awesome lol.

I have a question for those that have gotten past disk 2. Towards the end of disk 1 when Shion is saying "I have to it put it back in" was that part censored or was I missing something in that scene? thanks.

Look it up on Youtube. She actually is cupping her mother's blood in her hands. I'm not sure why it was censored, it wasn't that bad. Oh noes bloooooood.

They had to cut some of the blood out of scenes to get it down to the Teen rating, and not Mature.

They also censored:

- Shion in the shower (they fogged it up more)
- The Durandal takeover scenes
- Margulis in the scene after beating ES Levi toward the end
- The stuff with Jin in the ending

Possibly some other stuff I don't know about. You can find uncensored versions of all of these with a little nosing around on Youtube, I believe, if you want to know how it actually looked. Keep in mind that for some reason, Youtube videos of this game tend to be rather dark, so it's hard to see some of it anyway.

I really need to start my re-play of the Xenosaga trilogy. So great. I can even overlook how crap XS2 was in light of how great XS3 turned out.

Lol no doubt, I just went out and rebought Xenosaga I-III and gonna start playing through them again..

I refuse to play Xenosaga III until I beat II but II is just.. soo... :(

How far are you in XS2? One of us can easily give you the digest version of the rest of the plot so you don't have to slog through it. XS3 is worth it.

Oh I know the entire Xenosaga II plot cause I watched a friend play through most of it too :P and show me all the cool crazy scenes. I just have this kinda "MUST DO EVERYTHING" in a game before playing it's sequel. Specially when they have saves at the end of the game that gives stuff for the next games XD (though not sure if Xenosaga III does that like Xenosaga II does for the Xenosaga I save)

As far as carry-over stuff, all you have to do is have an epilogue save in XS2. (And all you get out of it in XS3 is a graphic-changing piece of armor for Shion - her Vector uniform - the stats of which you'll eventually upgrade past.) You don't have to do all the optional stuff, none of that has any carry-over effect. Although doing the Dark Professor sidequest does make the relevant sidequest in XS3 make a bit more sense. And the third optional side area (Heavenly Ruins or somesuch) is also rather pretty imho.

My advice on XS2, which is almost exactly opposite of my advice for games in general, is this: Haul out the Codebreaker (or whatever) and cheat your way through it. The game's battle system has a great deal of lovely potential but it falls short on execution in a number of ways, to the point where certain cheats (like infinite skill points) give you interesting tricks to allow you to actually appreciate the battle system *more*.

Otherwise it's just a yawn-fest of stockstockstock, boostboostboost, cast sword ethers, cast attacker/ether spear ethers, unleash massive combo of destruction, win. With a bit of healing thrown in now and then. Random battles are, regrettably, pretty much the same except you can generally stick to just the stocking and boosting and not fuss with the ethers. (But the random battles are consequently pretty damn slow, and they get slower as the game goes on.)

Be careful about making yourself too powerful though, you do *not* want to be one-shotting the final-final boss because that battle isn't technically won by reducing his HP to zero, and you'll need to hit him with attacks that *don't* kill him, to win. Infinite skill points, infinite EP (this one's particularly broken once you get Erde Kaiser Fury: you can finally make random battles in this game be *fast* like in the other two), and massive exp gain so you promptly hit level 99, should be more than enough. Don't go maxing out your stats to levels you'd never legitimately be able to reach though, that'll kinda screw you over.

lol vil. What actually happens if you take XS2's final, FINAL boss's HP to 0 by mistake, like say you actually have Jr. strong enough to one shot him? D=

Been a long time since I tried, but I think he just regenerates his health. But you win by hitting his break points 10 (I think) times *without* killing him, getting a little reaction each time, and winning the fight the tenth time. But you don't get the reactions if you hit the break points *and* kill him (his reviving trumps his reacting and he doesn't do both), so basically the fight just goes on forever.

Like I said, it's been a long time since I've tried, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

Oh, OK, that makes sense lol.

I wonder how much HP they gave him then. I think he only regenerates when he actually runs out of HP because now that I think about it I did notice on occasion that once per fight he would just not do his usual dialogue in between my attacks.

Such a weird last boss. ... and a crappy one at that IMO.

Well a number of games do the whole "you're gonna *technically* have a battle but you've already actually beaten the hard part, so this is just some easily won pushover for plot purposes" thing. This is one example. Xenogears. FF7. FF10. Baten Kaitos. Probably some others that I know about, and more still that I don't.
