I was wondering if other FF fans had ever played this game and if it is good or not?

Lots of people that i've spoken to didn't enjoy the game, and encouraged me not to play it. However considering that the game comes from Xenogears (its the prequel I believe) I decided to rent the game and play it regardless.

I've always been one for sitting down and enjoying movies, and when the first scene was all FMV like, I was pulled in right away. I really enjoyed the game play, found it simple to understand and enjoyed the different characters you attained. What I enjoyed the most about the game is that the story seemed to continue getting more detailed and complicated, and there were always more questions needing to be answered because there was just so much content.

I've played the second episode and it seems to have the same style, though the game play seems to be a little different. I haven't given it much of a chance though having only played it for an hour or so.

Is it a good RPG? In my opinion yes, because a good RPG will have a good story and I found the story to this game compelling. I really liked the fact that little things such as seeing a kid version of "Fei" and "Elle" (sp?) from xenogears.

I think Xenosaga is one of those love/hate type of games. It has very long cutscene's, so you need to have patience to play it. The battle system is alright, it's unique atleast. Storyline wise, expect to constantly be left in the dark with the plot, mystery is a big thing in both Xenosaga 1 & 2, things like the Zohar and KOS-MOS still haven't been explained fully. It's also very dramatic, don't expect much comedy coming from this game.

Overall if you can, try out the first one as a rental or something, and see if you enjoy it, if you do, pick them both up and play them back to back, and then keep your file for Xenosaga 3 when it comes out, since it'll carry over and that's the end of the series. If your fan of Sci-fi/drama you'll most likely enjoy it, but it does tend to drag with constant long dialogue at some points.

I really liked the first Xenosaga. Had a nice battle system and story, but I can't stand the second. Its battlesystem is abit too off for my liking. Having many more episodes to come I believe is a great endevour that I hope they finish but I don't think I'll plan on playing them. If they would of kept the mechanics the same I think I would of liked it better. I'm one of those people that if you give me something I like the first time, the second time you give it to me it better be the damned same.

Try Xenosaga 1 and if you like that try out number II once your done.

It does feel more like a movie at times, but that's what is so great about it. It has an excellent plot. Only problem is it's a game you really need a good 2-3 hours to play. It's still a great series though, I'm hyped for Ep. 3

I loved both, although Ep 1 moreso than Ep2, and I'm stoked as hell for Ep 3, was planned to be a 6 part thing(with Xenogears being the 6th), but since the 2nd didn't do so hot, the 3rd is gonna be the end unfortunately >< Ah well, should be great

O.K. it sounds cool and is only $10 at gamestop so I think I'll try it. I love cut scenes so I won't mind if they are long. Also a good story makes a good rpg.

I personally love the series. Ep1 has got to be one of my favorite RPGs of all-time. Very plot and movie heavy, but the battle system and character development are solid enough to help it along when you do get to play.

I ended up liking Ep2 alot less mainly because of the battle system (which was redone) the plot (it seems very scattered) and character abilities (much more fun to play with in Ep1). They did end up making the Mecha (AGWS) much more useful and fun though. Still, I'd pick it up if you end up liking Ep1.

Ep3 is due out later this year I believe (Maybe beginning of '07) but I'm kindof weary about it due to the fact that most of the developers, writers and crew from Ep1 are gone from the project.

Now I'm just rambling. Pick up the first game and make judgement for yourself. ^^

1 was fantastic, 2 i heard wasn't as good, because they took out a few of the best things about 1. I also hear that 3 is gonna be Beautiful!

Who cares about xenosaga right now tho!!!! FF12 is gonna be out in 2 months!!!!!!!! ........................... Remember how it was supposed to be out in about 10 days >.>

Exactly, Xenosaga is to pass the time until FF XII!

FFXII...drool, 2months and 10days and counting....too bad there's this drought of rpgs until Fall/Winter (and then there's like 10-15+ games I want but won't have the money for all lol), so I have no good single player rpgs to play until FFXII, already played everything that's been out there, suppose I could replay something, probably Chrono Trigger or Secret of Mana...
Anyways, does anyone else just seem overwhelmed by the sheer amount of rpgs that is coming out at the end of this year? I know I am

Xenosaga is a really, really good movie.

<_<

Xenosaga II irritates me like hell, though. So many things blatantly screwed up. They tried too hard to avoid min/maxing and made everything feel stupidly generic and untweakable.

I liked them both...2 was a bit short, but better battle system

I liked the first Xenosaga, like many I heard the second one wasn't too good so I didn't play it. I got to play the english version Xenosaga III and I don't know if the battle system was changed on part II but it seems to play more like FF then the Xenogears/Xenosaga I battle system.

Well, lesse, I'm not sure all are coming out during the end of the year, but if not then then there's next year, anyways, there's FFXII(obviously, PS2), FFIII(DS), FFV Advance(GBA), FFVI Advance(GBA), Rogue Galaxy(PS2), Valkyrie Profile 2:Silmeria(PS2), Children of Mana(DS), Dawn of Mana(I wish, PS2), FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus(not really an rpg, but Vincent>all, PS2), Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra(PS2), Disgaea 2(PS2), Phantasy Star Universe(PS2,360,PC), Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner(PS2), Tales of the Abyss(PS2), Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime(DS), Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess(GC/Wii), Zelda:Phantom Hourglass(DS, doubtful release then, would be nice though) Blue Dragon(360, another doubtful, releases in JP then, probably 5-6 month localization), Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen(Wii), ok so it's more like 20 ><

Goodness! With the semi-RPG drought we've been having these titles will really fill up my time! :D

Really eh? We have a drought of survival horror games..... i dont know why the companies make more of those games, every single one sells well.
