so your solution is kill everyone in jail? or kill everyone who is a murderer? Do you know how many people would be put on death row? its not like we don't have enough on it already...

You forgot about selling them off on eBay as "exotic" items afterwords.

Look, as immoral and what not against my ideals, I am glad this bastard is dead. I only wish you could bring back the dead, and kill him once for each of his malicious crimes.

U.S Trial over Hussein? Hah, no. Every single member of both the prosecution and defense were Iraqis. Yes, there were Americans in the court, and Americans trained them, both sides. They didn't run the court or anything.

Life imprisonment? Hah, no. The Iraqis were worried that Hussein would come back. That he would come back to run their whole country. Here, in the U.S, we think, "Oh, he is in prison for life, blah blah blah." These people that saw these atrocities wanted him dead. It's not up to us... Hell, it's not up to anyone else but the Iraqis on whether or not he should die.

It was their trial, and they found him guilty. Period. We Americans have no place in saying whether or not he was innocent. Most of us have never seen such terrible acts against humanity committed. Hearing and seeing are two different things.

The problem is that the opponents of capital punishment include the aforementioned legal fees and court costs in their calculations of what an "execution" costs. And oddly enough usually leave them out of the calculations on the side of the people imprisoned for life who also go through the appeals process.

Thank you for that. I was going to post something along similar lines, but you beat me to it by a long chalk.

In my opinion, anyone who is looking to justify the death penalty in such retributive terms as "an eye for an eye" is barking up the wrong tree. I'm actually a proponent of the death penalty for the simple reason that no executed murderer has ever killed again. If you look at it as the consequence of the ultimate violation of the "social contract" it, at least to my eyes, is the most logical and fitting punishment.

That being said, I still believe that any civilized society should have an appeals process; however, those opportunities for appeal should be timely and weighted on the strength of the evidence. For instance, if you're on a video tape blowing away a cop while your vehicle's license plate is in full view and are arrested two hours later with the murder weapon stuffed down the seat of your pants . . . what exactly are we appealing?

Same goes for genocidal, would-be conqerors.

Well, i don't like when anyone has to die. Sometimes people go corrupt, and their ego becomes inflated and they make more upon more mistakes. I am sad that a human died, but glad a little less evil is in the world.
