one more thing.
when i started the game, i openly admit i was a noob when i first started leveling. but learn to ask people for help, and at least try your best to show you are putting the effort. ie. by the time i was in Qufim, i knew how a party worked, what to look for and how to do my job.
example of working towards gear: you know that low level mail set, the bluish one you use mid 20s. I took a few days of mining back in Zeruhn so i could afford it, so i wouldnt be a complete gimp. Sure people dont have the same amount of time, and i dont expect everyone to be decked out in peacock charms (i dont even have one) but show u at least have some effort.
That's what you did. This is not necessarily all true for everyone that plays this game.
Some will try to have the best gear as possible before leveling, others may want to level faster and then get good/decent/great gear.
When it comes to that, it all depends on the person's attitude.
They could actually give a shit about their reputation and try not to be as gimp as possible.
Or you have those who don't even give a rats ass to care what other people think of them and their gear.
Honestly, what do the descriptions of the spells tell you?
To a beginner, they seem pretty vague unless it's fairly obvious of what it may entail.
Here's the spell in question's description.
Barfira:
Teaches the white magic "Barfira."
Now to a new player, how is this supposed to be of any help?
At best, they may have thought that it is a spell that they can get but might not be that important to get immediately.
In the worst case, they may have thought "Well, I have no idea what this does so I'm not going to get it so screw it"
Compare that description to let's say a DRK's spell.
Absorb-STR:
Teaches the black magic "Absorb-STR"
If you already know what STR stands for by the time you're at level 20, you would understand that the spell's name itself is pretty self-explanatory.
You're going to absorb some strength from a target. Easy to understand, no?
You cannot expect every single person to have the same attitude towards leveling as you.
If you were the type to actually take your time in leveling and understanding your job, and equipping it well, then good for you.
If you were/are the type to rush through exp areas just because you want to get that job to 75, then I just hope you are not going to be skimping on it too much.
If it is your first job to 75, then you still have some excuse however very little in the later levels.
