With Talindra, a high 60's WHM at that time. Arr arr arr.

Don't forget me. lol

in all honosty if the knife is actally for the ls im sure the ls ahd a vote for it. Why do people join dynamis ls? to get af2. With thf knife the chances of af2 get slightly better.
Now pere is a aregent person everyone one know this, but that does not change how a person play a char. What i here he run a good dynamis if he want to get a knife to help drop that will just make his shell better.:nyam: colbwa play thief well to but was a aregant a$$. If this was any other shell or any other person whould you be making this flame? Im sure the ls put to this to a vote, if they didnt they should be throwing a fit right now. In the long run this a smarter move, now you will have more armor and coins to drop which will make the ls even stronger, or maybe that what you dont want?

I also want to add at the time I was a THF I would have bought the knife too, my LS would have appreciated it more then my "pride," which matters more to me I guess.

The damn thing kept jumping 2 mil everytime I was in reach at the time ><

Most of my kills i was thf71.. did about 2-3 kills at 70 but midway through the fight i had to call in a bard to mambo.

Yeah, and picking on Pere is what all the cool kids do.

Don't get me wrong, I don't care for how Pere presents himself on these boards just as much as anyone else, I'm sure. But I'm also sick of people making "OMG Flame Peregrine LOLZ!" threads for no real reason. Other than the fact that he makes himself such an easy target and it's easy for people to feel big by beating on him, of course. We've covered just about everything that can be covered on Pere, everyone knows how he acts here, so why continue these types of threads? I'm tired of eating the same reheated soup.

If STR+1 doesn't cause you do to even the slightest increase in damage, thus killing mobs faster, and VIT+1 doesn't save you any HP, thus making you tougher to kill, then obviously TH+1 doesn't increase drop rates!

hahahahaha

A thief's knife serves more than three purposes for us. Any single reason would not be enough to override my disgust of putting one person on a pedestal, as many have claimed that I'm trying to do. Look at your own coin beggars in your shells asking to buy coins at 5k a piece if you want to see people put on pedestals. Look to your relic weapon upgrade hopefuls. You're pumping 500 million gil into them while calling 60 million gil a pedestal? I don't think so, even if I WOULD stand taller on that small elevation than they ever would with a basically freebie begged relic weapon.

First and foremost it increases treasure hunter. If it increases the drop rate to any extent it is doing more than any stat ever does in the XP world. This isn't the XP world where your strength+1 nets you 30 seconds over a 3 hour session. That is not significant gain. We're talking about drops. Whole drops. Whole armors. Whole coins. I was the FIRST person to remind the shell that a thief's knife does almost nothing. I am the first person to never credit a thief-knife wielder for the drop success of the run. But it increases the rate of drops, period, and that is 75% of what dynamis is. Not minuscule +1'ing yourself to get the mob dead 3 seconds sooner every 10 fights. If at the end of 8 months it's the difference between a measly 1 bard af and 22 coins, that's fine by me. Alone that would not merit a purchase, but that's not the only reason to buy a thief's knife.

Second, it is an investment. When coins shot up to 40k per, I had no idea what was causing it but I knew that we were primed to take advantage of it. Keep in mind that at any time, I can reconvert and regain almost every coin we've ever made, because I've been selling them at market price. That means I can rebuy them at market price. I do take a loss because I usually give 1k per coin discount, and that's where the knife comes in. It appreciates in value. We will be able to sell it for more than we bought it for, and in doing so, mitigating any gil loss in gil-coin conversion. In the future when we decide what to REALLY do with shell assets, that knife can be made into anything we want it to be. Coins. Gil. Other items. The knife doesn't cost anything to us in the end. There is no penalty. If I am going to agree to upgrade a relic weapon, it will not be more than two or three of them. But I MAY agree to that if the shell wants it. However, I'm not going to choose someone now. I want to know where allegiance lies. I gave two people twenty million gil gifts under the pretense of upgrading and hosting, and now they're gone. They took their cookies and ran. One bought a speed belt with their reward for treachery. That will not happen again. The gil will stay with me fully accounted for on our forums in an accounting system. I did the books for a highschool bank. Was responsible for the accounting of 3 million US dollars every day. I can keep track of a MMO shell's assets just fine.

Third, as alluded to earlier, it stalls a decision. You do not make decisions about a shell based on its building phase. You make decisions about a shell based on its future--its maintenance phase. Going concern is what I am in charge of securing. We are growing. We are just now getting to maintenance phase where everything stabilizes. I cannot make any decisions regarding what to do with the shell's assets, or better yet I cannot allow the shell to act on what they want regarding shell assets, until we know exactly who our recipients are and should be. When the shell gets locked and we have 50 of the same people every week, THEN I will let the shell decide what to do with the assets because I will be certain there are no goldiggers left in us. But not now. We're growing. It's time to build, not time to pay dividends. When the shell is ready, everything it has ever made will be there for it to use how it wants. I did intend the shell to pay back to everyone. However, I gave up absolution very quickly into this shell's life. Right now we must decide what to do with the assets we generate, and right now we are not ready to make that decision. A thief's knife is something to seal the end of an era with.

I have 52 million gil sitting in my inventory. 50 of that is invictus'. It is no secret to any of our members. I wanted to shut it down at 10 million gil and start stocking coins, but members wanted the knife. So they shall have the knife if it does not do one iota of harm to us. And it doesn't. There is no drawback. We need to grow and age before we reward. We need something to do with assets while we decide what to do with assets. And we need more drops.

This isn't my thief's knife. If I had one reason to buy it, it's because the shell wants it. Number two is strictly financial. I need something to do with the assets that we've generated by selling coins for 40-50k a pop. I didn't know if these prices would stay that high, so I converted to gil. If they depreciate, we win. If they shoot higher, we lose. If they stay at 40k nothing changes. For your sake and ours, I hope that coins start going down in prices. It would only make us more powerful now that the time for selling coins may or may not be over, depending on what the shell decides.

Not that I have to defend a single thing to the likes of you people. Even if others try, they will fail. I read this thread backwards, and it was one of the more encouraging ones to read even if your end is still as pathetic as it ever has been in the history of my breeding your kind. It's not in you to understand and comprehend. You talk of my net worth as if I ever said that how much gil I have is a fraction of what I'm gauging. Your net worth is your gil, armor, and your lack of responsibility in this life. You're free for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. It's no wonder you laugh at how much gil I have when I'm free 8 hours a week period. My net worth is in what I am not only capable of doing, but what I AM doing. You can talk all you want, but in the end I wield more power because of what I started than you ever can with your HQ society teatimes and elitism. I do more in 8 hours than you have all month. You think you can do the same? You're not doing the same, so I suggest you climb the mountain or stop bragging about how you could and might, acting like what I do is nothing. What I do makes you look pathetic, and you sit there at your computer as an average HQ nobody in the server wondering how the heck I don't respect you because of how hard you slave in the game to earn your barbie dresses. I created a machine beyond your or my ability that is worth more than all of you beggars put together.

That it's not mine makes no difference. You are a gimp compared to it, and it is on my side.

Peregrine tries so hard to be a good forum troll but fails. :( I mean, he uses some of the key phrases like "the likes of you people" and stuff but when you look at who's saying it, you just can't take him seriously. I think my favourite part is where he says "Not that I have to defend a single thing to the likes of you people" and yet he posts in every single topic even remotely mentioning his name. Obviously you do, sir, or you wouldn't bother doing it. Don't be a hypocrite anymore than you already are.

I think twelve pages is more than enough response from my fanboys about me using the auction house board correctly. I'm going to go ahead and put you out of your misery now and show up full-time, lest it drag on forever begging for me to make an appearance. I learned from prophecy, but I'll be darned if I beat his threads. At this point if I don't say anything, they just keep howling louder.

So who'se going to post last? Go ahead and get it over with. Cut and paste me and tell yourself you won. You don't want to antagonize daveman. You don't want to antagonize zylia. So get it over with already, and get your month's fix and go back to your holes.

I'm not going to bother with any kind of retarded 'flame' on Peregrine or Invictus anymore. It doesn't solve anything. That being said, there's plenty of questions on my mind regarding the purchase.

1) You said yourself you have 50 million in Invictus assets. If you don't want to answer this, I understand, but have there been any shell payouts so far? Does that banked gil represent all of Invictus' profit since creation?

2) Assuming there have not been any payouts, and what Zylia said in the previous thread is true about current coin collecting runs, your current take is ~8 million in sales per run. (8mil coins - 1mil entrance fee)/50 shell members (I think this is conservative, you've mentioned full 64-man runs in the past)/4-5 hours of time (including gathering, hourglass trading, time bonuses) = 140,000 profit per member per run, or 28-35k/hour. Relic drops aside, 35k/hour is what a level 15 can make on a bad day farming silk and necklaces in Sarutabaruta. Is it possible your shell is considering the Knife because of the current profit margins?

3) I think you're fooling yourself if 60 million is going to buy a Knife anymore. I haven't seen a Knife for sale in weeks and it wouldn't suprise me at all if the market value for it rose to 80m-100m next sale. Granted, if what Zylia said is true you'd be able to make that extra gil in about a month - but by then market value could be 120m or more. Not to mention...

4) Asking people here, on this board (one you seem to hate, aside from LS Recruiting and maybe ES) for a Knife wasn't the smartest move. At least one person I know with a Knife (and no, I'm not going to name names - he's never posted on Flameboard/Peregrine threads and doesn't want to be dragged into it) has said that even if he were willing to sell his Knife, he'd charge Peregrine or anyone else from Invictus at least 50% over market value just because of the reputation you (and by proxy, Invictus) have created on QCDN. I'd suggest finding a good translator and asking on a JP board for a Knife, but then you'd probably just pay a gaijin tax anyway.

5) I don't get why your shell would want to spend all that gil on a Knife that'd be used twice a week in Dynamis only. It makes no sense to me. I understand why Sky shells get Knives - both for the chance at an extra 8-10+ million gil per run + extra abjurations/Osodes/pop and rare/ex items. For HNM shells, see above. For Sea shells (lol see what i did there) to make sure the drops for the next tier of Jailers actually comes out. To get more tissues and organs for Obis and such. I can even understand why a Limbus shell would want it - 300k/1 coin divided by 18 is equal to getting 18-20 extra 1 coins from Dynamis with 50 attending. Your shell getting a Knife and using it twice a week seems like a really ineffective use of gil. That, plus it takes a Knife out of circulation that a HNM/Sky/Sea/Limbus shell would put to exponentially better use. Not to mention...

6) Should a LS THF decide to cut and run with the shell's knife, outside of Invictus you'll likely get no sympathy. Not only would your shell lose out on its main purpose (profit) but most of this board would have a true QCDN superstar on their hands. You've seen how other shells like to 'stick it to you' or whatever. Imagine what would happen if someone got away with the Knife. I don't think it'd be too much of a stretch to say your shell would come dangerously close to breaking because of it. If you do get a Knife, do yourself a favor and choose who holds it very wisely. Zylia seems like a good choice.

Good luck getting a knife, but the same people you hate on this forum are usually the ones getting the Knives, and those aren't the people you want to have to come to for something as valuable as this.

The thread served purpose enough. I never even expected to get a bid from this forum at all, but I got a relatively reasonable and serious one. I expected to have to battalia like mad and camp the AH to get one, which is something that I don't even have the time for these days unfortunately. You know my expectations for these forums is low. Perhaps you expected more than I did out of this interaction. Nevertheless, the thread was a success in spite of...whatever they are.

Questions:

1) No, the shell has not paid its general members yet. I've given them 3 or 4 options regarding what to do with assets. Relic upgrading is one of them. Total disbursement is another. Consolation for not winning relic that month is another. I don't need to make this decision now. In fact, it's not smart to make the decision now because we are new and still have large flux. I would rather see whatever Invictus earns go to the truly dedicated later and not the fickle now. We are young. The next time I pay out, it will not be to lipservice hosters who are here today and gone tomorrow with the equivalent of a free speed belt courtesy of Invictus.

2) No, the knife isn't being considered because of the low dividends that Invictus can potentially create. Our runs averaged in the 50's this last month, and it is true that dynamis doesn't pay that many people all that much gil. Keep in mind though, that if the shell decides to pay dividends, even after hosts bled us and left us, I can still give 1 million gil to our top 50 dedicateds. No, it's not much. But it's something, and the shell has to decide if they want dividends or something else. Until then, I will have their assets ready.

3) There is nothing for sale that our dynamis shell cannot buy eventually. We deal in dynamis currency, after all, and if there is a king market in this game, it is what we deal in. We can currently outstrip any inflation the econ can throw at us. And in the end it is just an asset above all. I don't expect it to be much more than an asset. It's more safe than sitting on 50 million gil as the shell waits. I already have mentioned why I convert to gil. I had no idea how long 40k coins would last, so I struck while I knew that it meant 3 million gil per run profit instead of the struggling to pay for yourself that OHex struggled with every week.

4) The power of the market is that I don't give one hoot about people begging for too low and charging too much. If they charge me 50% more they're irrelevant. The market drowns them. No matter how broken the QCDN mentality makes the economy, I will support free market no matter how stupid its patrons are. In doing so, you can't touch me. You can't hope to compete with a free market, so if you would charge me more for a thief's knife, that means nothing. You know one person who would charge me more? I know fifty. And yet they're nothing compared to the market. Grains of sand that don't matter to anyone.

5) I don't have one reason to buy a knife. I have three. It's a consequence and a reaction more than it is a goal of ours. I need a placeholder while the shell makes decisions and ages into maturity. A thief's knife can do that.

6) No thief will come near that knife but Zylia for the time being. I already trusted hosters to stay with us when we were being so generous to them, and I got burnt. I already expected people to be serious about dynamis and in doing so gave them lotting rights their first run. And I got burnt. I have lowlifes trying to raise one me after runs because I do the suicide pulls at the end of the day, and I am well aware of the taliban terrorists that I've bred on these boards. They wear good masks. They put up nice facades. I know all this. You don't have to tell me to be careful any more. I get the picture.

Can I find a thief's knife? Me specifically? Mreh. Got one offer, which is by far more than I expected. To be honest I don't know why I didn't just ask daveman or zylia to put the offer up. Certainly that would have been more...tactful...of me. I suppose if I thought about it, I could spin an answer. It wouldn't be as fun. Wouldn't be as memorable. As entertaining. As telling. But in the end I didn't think they had it in them to take such a simple presentation and bite at it. Call it my last lesson in learning their nature after being disappointed time and time again.

See, I don't understand why a for-profit endgame shell like Invictus wouldn't just do Limbus instead. If you're getting 50+ people a run it wouldn't take that much effort to split those up into 3 full alliances (maybe 4, if your teams are skilled enough) get your cards and grab a bunch of Ancient coins for, what are those now, 300k each? The barrier of entry would be a bit higher (2.7 million instead of 1m per run) but 3 full groups clearing Tenemos/Apollyon zones would likely equal/double your profit while still banking coins for AF+1 upgrades and those really nice earrings/back pieces.

Of course the second big barrier is Sea access but if your members are as good as you say they are (and I have no reason to doubt you) getting through the PMs shouldn't be too much of a hassle. And hey, you could STILL do Dynamis on top of that.

Profit is a byproduct, not a goal. I'm in this for the power that 55 people can wield together. I'm in this to dominate the zones with superior tactics, huge forces, and unceasing insert inspirational crap here. You can think that's corny, but that's all that floats my boat these days. That we make gil off it, or that there's something called relic weapons...meh. Got to decide what to do with that side. Nothing more. I enjoy every second that I'm in this game, because I log on to a crowd and a goal and we either win or we lose. Like I said, I am not a leader. I am a performer. I don't care for gil. I don't care for armor. I don't care for profit and farming and work. I play. I have more entertainment in 3 hours than I would have otherwise ever had playing. I'm not happy until we rip Jeuno apart and I not only show people that the repops are nothing to be afraid of, but to prove to them just how much stats don't matter. Dynamis is about the only arena where your mind is more important than your gear.

You should know by now that anything I create doesn't have profit as a priority. I am far too arrogant to be entertained by counting gil.

NO, dynamis is the only arena where I can show people that their mind is more important than their gear.

So why not the new Dynamis zones? Nothing would be a better feather in your cap then being able to say you were the first shell (on this server, or possibly any server) to clear Buburimu. To effectively farm Qufim. And so on.

Maybe you don't want to leave anyone out, but when I see this new challenge available to your and your shell I wonder why you swarm Bastok for a full clear when you could be the new Valkrum innovator.

Actually, the whole came can come down to that if you really wanted to.

I guess it's just easier since Dynamis is a cakewalk with 50~ attendees every week. GG Zerg.
