2009 E3 thread

Well just going by press conference alone, I have sony baring edging out microsoft with nintendo well in the rear where they seem comfy to stay. They sell well enough as-is so I doubt they care, lol.

Meh, PSP Go, no thanks digital distribution only.
I like physical media, I'll stick with my PSP Slim.
And way too damn much, $249

It's costly, but I'll definitely buy one. I've never liked the UMDs -- they're too bulky and fragile for my taste -- and definitely prefer the idea of digital downloads for it. It'd be nice if they offered a free download for games you already own on UMD, but I'm not holding my breath.

And Final Fantasy 7 for download makes me happy. I'll be getting that later to start playing through it again. I hope it means we get Final Fantasy 8 down the line.

That's true; Nintendo has been sitting fat and happy on the "it's not broke, wtf do we need to fix" platform for a number of years lol.

I really can't decide which I like, in terms of new content, none of them really showed TOO much but Sony showed more I'm interested in but MS had some very interesting things as did Nintendo.. hmmm

I want FF9 more than FF7 or FF8 personally... but ah well.. I only see FF7 for awhile now (and getting that upgrade I mentioned). FF8 and 9 weren't popular enough to get a slight upgrade as FF7 supposedly got (if what I read was true that is). But I have no doubt they'll be released soon enough for the PSN :P

If that's a Galka he's lost his tail.

I am sitting in that same boat. I think some of the Sony conference is more memorable... But they also had the most boring 45minutes of the week in between all the cool things lol..

Ok, I'm gonna rate the three conferences in the nerdiest way possible! This is to show how, in my opinion, the three conferences were, so I'm probably the only one who will understand how I've rated them =P.

Sony: Genesic GaoGaiGar!

Microsoft: GaoGaiGar!

Nintendo: GaoFighGar!

JP version of FFVII PSN was the FFVII International that they usually do for most of their FF's, basically the NA game that has all the updates/extra bosses (Ruby/Emerald weren't in the original JP version) so FFVII on NA PSN will just be the regular version we have had since it's release on PS1.

Only three WEAPON creatures were featured in the original Japanese release of Final Fantasy VII; these were the Sapphire, Diamond, and Ultimate WEAPON, although others such as the Emerald and Ruby WEAPON are briefly visible in the cinematic in which the WEAPON are released. The Western release (and the later International release) added the Ruby and Emerald WEAPON as optional battles, as well as a mandatory battle against the Diamond WEAPON.

Racers!!!

Well that motion tech is pretty neat.

Sony and Microsoft have the better tech there... I don't know which is best til they're in our hands. It's seeming to fall under the normal routine... Sony better engineering, Microsoft better software.

Nintendo's in more relevant because they based their platform on it it's not add ons.

It's all neat, fun experiment stuff. But a focus on the games is best. The best thing I seen games wise is that fucking awesome ridiculous racing game. Seriously. After LBP I don't need any more 2d platforms. After this I probably won't need any more racing games.

I knew that JP version didn't have Emerald and Ruby but I thought that their graphics were the same :P same with the magical system and such. The article I read (if only I could find it ><) said something about them improving the graphics (slightly) and the magic system as well as having the added monsters we had that they didn't :P but I dunno...

I want FF9 as well. All three PS1 titles would be a godsend. I've only played through FF9 one time, back when it first came out. I'm more likely to play it again if it's portable, since I don't have the sit-down-and-play-for-hours ability I once had.

I do agree here.. I was most impressed with the racing game. Was there a release date for it?

2010 :/

2009 gonna be a kinda weak year for all consoles. Most of the good stuff coming out in 2010... the motion tech, the better games, ext. FF13...

What we got this year, Uncharted and Halo? It's not bad but doesn't live up to 2008 and 2007.

Nah, just the International version they got which was the NA version.

Several additions to gameplay and story were made for the game's North American release, such as easier exchange of materia, arrows highlighting exits on field screens,[2] and an extra cut scene, prompting a re-release in Japan under the title "Final Fantasy VII International".

Hmm, maybe I miss read and it was just the international version they added to the PSN that was talking about how they improved it compared to the original Japanese version to be up to par with the American version... hmm

I don't know about that PSP! Go. The price is high and I can't use my UMDs. It certainly looks small enough to fit in my pocket though, something that my PSP lacks and keeps my PSP at home. Maybe if people hack it like they do the regular PSP, I'll just get the illegal copies of the games I already own... but I can't lose the firmware features I'd want.... so dunno seems unlikely.

I'm still thinking it's set in a different era than FFXI is. Perhaps the missing Galka tail can be explained by them losing it over their evolution?
Of course, it doesn't even have to be set in the same realm. But just the presence of what looks like a Galka has my speculation fire running full.

It's a different land anyways, Eorzea, it's probably a different race (the galka looking dude w/o a tail) and Humes/Elvaans have been in a lot of other MMO's, they better have something that's tarutaruish though.
