So i just watched this new trailer for 2012.. I would think the movie is going to be pretty bad overall. Most of these "World is going to be destroyed" movies are not very good. Some of these visuals look just so cool though... What do ya think?

And the dude made Independence Day! Day after Tomorrow i was not so hot about.

I'm not impressed at all. I'm getting so fucking annoyed with all the world will end in 2012 shit too.

There is no doubt the plot is going to be dumb as hell.. Those effects were cool regardless.
 
The movie will make about as much sense as Andy Dick coming off a three-day coke jag with Pauly Shore, but I'll probably see it anyway just for the special effects and the eventual Rifftrax takedown. The downside is there's no Jake Gyllenhaal for me to ogle this time, but I like John Cusack.

Emmerich has only made two movies that I actually like -- Universal Soldier and Independence Day -- so I doubt this will ascend to join that heavenly choir of Saturday matinee popcorn goodness. He's still working off a lot of cinematic karma for that Godzilla-in-name-only lizard flick.

Don't forget that watching Vatican City get destroyed a la Sodom and Gomorrah style is almost worth the price of admission. :)
 
Yeh I don't like the whole 2012 bullshit either. But regardless, this looks kinda cool.
 
I saw the trailer before Transformers and it reminds me of the Day after Tomorrow, great special effects of the actual destruction of the world, but the rest of the movie aside from that was awful.

I have a feeling that this will be the same thing.
 
Looks cool, but wasn't the world supposed to end on June 6, 2006(6/6/06) also? I remember all the people who were scared of that day.
 
This has *got* to be Emmerich's final film, seeing as he's got every type of disaster covered in this one.
 
Meh, I might go see it. If I do, it will only be because it was filmed here.
 
Being a firm believer in the theory that the Mayan calender merely restarts on that date in 2012... I will still see this movie because I think it will be as good as Independence Day :)
