A Problem :/

My advice for anyone and everyone's problems:

Relax and take whatever comes in stride. Things tend to work out the way they should.

Peaks and valleys. It could always be worse, and it will always get better.

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. -- Kahlil Gibran

"So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains and we never even know we have the key..."

Remember that. It helped me alot.

I just got back from The Rim Of The World and omg is it gorgeous up there. I could see the whole damn city and the air is so crisp i didnt even think about the problems up there.

Honestly, if anyone is in a downward spiral, take things one at a time, everyday at a time. Carpe Diem! At the end of each day, write 3 Good Things you are grateful for, or that you appreciate. It could be of life in general or of something good that happened that day. Hopefully you'll start feeling better and eventually you'll see life isn't so bad and YOU (yes YOU) can do something with your life..something productive. It doesn't matter if it will rake you in tons of money... But do stuff that will make you happy. If you don't feel like you have real friends...find new friends or strengthen current bonds. Friendships are going to only be as close and authentic as you make them.

I'd also like to add:

Most of the people I interact with on a daily basis fret, worry, and get upset over every little detail in their life. I'm not sure what's causing any of your(the people posting in this thread...) "downward spirals," but chances are, it's really not the end of the world you think it is. Try and take a step back and examine the situation. Realistically, there aren't many things that can happen to you in life that will substantially change it, and the odds are that whatever's going on is not one of those things. Sure, the little things can add up over time, but if you worry over each of these little things, then the fact that you spend so much time worrying is likely to change things more than the fact that those things actually happened.

I'm not sure if any of this can help anyone, but I tried!

Just go with the flow and enjoy your life! You only get one. :)

{Long post warning, forgive me}

Everybody's had some pretty good advice. And the only thing I can strongly advise against is a drastic change in your hair. I went through a similar depression after a relationship of mine imploded and thought a change like that would do me good. Only I had long hair (had) and the stylist fucked up... Real bad... and it only made me feel worse.

It depends on the type of person you are, but I'd say that almost anything good in life comes from baby steps. Taking a hit in life knocks you on your ass and makes you disoriented and scared and feeling unhappy and sometimes alone. It's how quickly you pick yourself up that will make all the difference. Things that helped me immeasurably were getting a membership at the gym (a good workout not only helps you work out a lot of frustration and anxiety but also burns energy you waste fretting and makes you feel better in general), forcing myself outside of the house for at least 2 hours every day (time spent at work does *not* count, I'm talking exclusive you time: going out with friends, shopping, some kind of interaction with people), and not allowing yourself into that behavior of turning down invitations and opportunities because you would rather be a recluse and feel miserable.

If you don't like your friends or feel they aren't really friends to you then go out there and make new ones. Find things you like and be social in those networks and you will meet people you have things in common with. Bottom line, just be patient with yourself. The events that caused you to feel this way didn't unravel overnight, and the resulting depression you're feeling isn't going to either. Take some time to think about what you really want. Realize that it may take time to get there, but almost anything is possible if you want it badly enough and you're willing to work for it. I wish you all the best.

He's right ya know.

Worrying about things will not keep tommorows sorrow away, but it will rob you of the joys of today.

I went through some downtimes a while back and one of the things that I did was go to the gym or just any sort of exercise (thats actually semi strenuous). Im in Cali too and its still nice and clear at night, early evening, I'd suggest a walk. I heard it works so I gave it a shot. It won't be something that happens right away, but that and a couple other changes got me right back in the swing of things.

If you already do that then idk, try a comedy club with really close friends cause laughter is the best medicine.^^ Hope it works out for you in the end cause it really sucks feeling that way.

Wow that would be a great idea D: I can get my freinds together and we can go to the one in ontario D: and I could try and get to the bottom of why my freinds are being weird and still have a good time jeez that was a wonderfull idea!

If you are daring go to an open mic night. I've never had a more fun time in my life then heckling a shitty comedian at the Mall Of America here in MN.

I thought you meant open mic night as in singing karaoke. I did that with a bunch of friends once at like 4AM after getting trashed. Let's just say that the Spice Girls never sounded as good as when we sang lol

I suggest the exact opposite. I say get into a fight (even if just verbal) with someone, let all that you have bottled up inside explode out at one person. It can be a random stranger, someone doing some sort of telephone customer service, someone you can't stand, or even a friend if you give them fair warning and ask them to go along for the ride.

Depending on your morals/situation, rough sex is an incredible release of tension. Biting, grabbing, cursing, pulling, forcing, resisting, works wonders if you can put yourself into it and put everything on your mind into it.

Thats what CSRs are for right? And if they have been doing thier job for any length of time, they'll be used to it. :spiteful:

I had a similar rut - and Excim's post was definitely the most accurate to what happened to me. I nearly had a mental break down due to an overwhelming stressload. I too was unhappy with who I was, so I started to change everything I did not like about myself.

I just warn you though, even change can be a bumpy road. You will more than likely hurt some people along the way (at least, I did -- but they weren't really friends I guess). Take it in stride - if you aren't happy, it is up to you to change -- and it can be done.

And good God! Do Karaoke =) it is so fucking fun.

You became a CSR and got yelled at? Wow... that's far worse than anything described here... :shok:
