A third party game coming to the Wii that won't suck??? Monster Hunter 3!

I'll be honest... I really liked Monster Hunter for the PS2. I wouldn't recommend it though to people who weren't going to play online. The game was way better online than offline. Being able to make custom gear, weapons and food from the stuff you killed was sweet. Hunting the big monsters around on maps was a blast with a party. I hope that with this new addition, they keep the core aspects of the orginial game.

And who can't forget the Pet the Piggy mini-game!!!! :D!

F – Yes. Offline only players still get a good slice of game. But if you have the ability to play online, we hope that you will do so.


I can't wait to see what online-exclusive monster they put in. Lao Shan Lung and Shen Gaoren were awesome fights, and Fatalis and Akantor make for epic final battles.
 
I haven't played any Monster Hunter at all, but if this releases in NA(highly unlikely it doesn't) I'll probably pick it up.

Edit: Err I just watched that trailer, and holy shit how have I not played any of the previous ones, I'm definitely picking this up day one.

I've only played the PSP game, and never got a chance to play it online. I'm really looking forward to this release. I'm happy to see it'll have split-screen co-op as well, plus support for the Classic Controller.

They had better keep Pet the Piggy game >_> I loved that little sweater wearing piggy.. I loved him goooood.

And they have to keep the cooking music from the first game XD!!!

The first monster looks like a cross between the inflatable Congalala and small wyverns like YKK. I'm hoping it won't completely replace the big pink chicken, but you never know :(
Also, check out the hammer of the player in the 2nd half. Totally a Rathalos head.
 
yeah but hammers still suck no matter the look haha gun and GS onry, was a good game on ps2; online was great and hopefully this one will be just as fun

I'unno. Any information on even the JP release has been rather mum since TGS.
I do have confidence that MH3 will be localized, though.
 
Monster Hunter 3 news? I'm always on the case!
Two new things popped up in the past few days:
-The official JP website has listed the release for this summer.

Besides what's in the title, there's this quote:
“There is no significant change in Capcom’s strategy, and we will primarily release game titles for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. In addition, we plan to release our leading titles overseas to acquire game users, as the overseas market for Wii is extensive.

One of our leading titles is ‘Monster Hunter 3 (tri-).’ If we can gain recognition of this product in the European and North American markets, our market strategy will see a noticeable change. Meanwhile, we are reviewing the possibility of releasing new titles besides ‘Ace Attorney’ for Nintendo DS.”

A confirmation? We can only hope...

Wait now, is that saying Monster Hunter 3 is going to come out on the ps3 and 360 as well? I thought it was a Wii exclusive? Maybe I interpreted that wrong.

Monster Hunter 3 is still a Wii exclusive, they're just saying they're going to make games for all consoles, rather than only focus on games for a single console.

Also, news and tidbits:
MH3 slated for August 1st in Japan
-There'll be a special edition in japan that'll come with a special Classic Controller, a making-of DVD including concert performances of MH music, and one of three monster head figurines (which seem to be the horn wyvern, the sea serpent, and a rath-type head).
MH3 has been mentioned in Capcom's press page for the US and EU to receive the game during the fiscal year. Hopefully this is more or less the confirmation we need that we'll be getting it soon.
-Dual Swords, Gunlances, Bows, and Hunting Horns (AKA: the MH2 weapons) are getting cut. A new weapon called the Slash Axe is being put in. It appears to transform into a shoter Axe mode and a longer Sword mode. I've also heard that it has a third mode and can use the status bottles that bows used, but those are unverified rumors at this time.
