The only thing funnier then seeing these people whine:
Knowing it happened because there was a pile of shit called 'imbalance' they rolled in and SE noticed the stink.
If this game was supposed to be balanced we would all be crappy melee rdms. Whm can heal too good, let's make recast on Cure V 5 minutes. Blm can nuke too good, let's make mobs build a substantial and long lasting resistance to each element that is casted on them after each spell. Pld can tank too good, let's take away a large chunk of their enmity. Drk do too much damage on ws's, let's make souleater not stack with multi-hit ws's.
There are different jobs in this game for a reason. You say "imbalance" but if you make each job equally as effective against every single enemy what is the point of having different jobs to begin with? Yes, ranger was more desireable against gods than other physical DD's. Once people adjust to the new system they probably still will be. This patch isn't going to create balance, nothing will. All it's really gonna do is shuffle up the imbalance, and piss off those that get the short end of the stick.
You can say all you want about how this solves the problem of one "exploit" being found and stacked to defeat a mob, but that's just going to happen again with another method. Someone will find the best way to do the most damage, and then SE nerfs that, repeat, and what do you end up with in the end? A melee rdm doing the most damage against kirin with their en- spell.
You know what? There's a difference between "balance" and "equal".
Equal is every job doing the exact same thing, and having no merits above the other jobs. That's what you're describing.
Balanced is each job being different, BUT each job has opportunities where it shines. Balance isn't saying every job is equally able to do anything, balance is saying that each job is equally able to do
something.
Ithenas said it best: "As for the leeching thing, i'll say this. Of all the gods i've faught you only need 5 jobs to take any one of them down. RNG BLM PLD WHM and RDM, no more no less, granted you need those in masse but still an alliance filled w/ those jobs and only those jobs (not saying others cant, but these are the minimum requirements) can drop any god you will encounter in sky."
Know what makes RNG and BLM different from PLD, WHM, and RDM? The first two are damage dealing jobs. The other three don't deal damage.
Now, BLM's a little different, since they rely on having MP to deal damage, and I think that if you ran a parser and recorded everyone's damage during a god fight under the old system, the BLM's damage wouldn't be as high as the RNG's damage, and probably be closer to the other melee (assuming there are other melee), since they have to rest after casting a few nukes. Well, at least they'd be closer to other melee's damage if melee were allowed to fight (from what I've read, most melee just sit on the sidelines, chug sleep potions, then use a WS and go back to sleeping).
(Also, go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong, I've never fought Kirin or the other gods - don't even have a sky pass yet - so I don't have any idea how those fights unfold aside from what I read on the forums)
But RNG have no need to stop fighting, and can constantly fire arrows/bolts/bullets. I think that if there wasn't a need for BLM's non-damage spells (Stun, backup cures, etc), you could just drop the BLMs and use only RNGs for DD.
And you could do this on any god. ANY god. THAT is imbalance. THAT is one job being clearly better than the others.
Now, if SE wants to re-work God fights, here's an idea: have each of the four mini-gods weak to a different form of attack. One should be weak to magic, one to piercing damage (bow/guns, polearms, daggers), one to blunt damage (clubs, fists, staves), and one to slashing (just about everything else). Make it highly resistant to all other forms of damage. Then lower its attacking power so you don't have to constantly kite it. That would be balanced - each fight needs different DD jobs to kill it, BUT each job gets its time to shine in one of the fights. BLMs and RDM/BLMs can nuke the magic-weak one, DRKs, SAMs, WARs, etc can kill the slashing-weak one, MNKs can demolish the blunt-weak one, and RNGs, DRGs, and THFs get to have fun with the piercing-weak one.
As for Kirin, tone down his attacking power so you can stop kiting him, and just make all forms of damage equally strong on him.
