A wise RNG got to thinking...

Kirin last night -
5 Rangers
2 BLM
We do Kirin with 20-25 tops and usuall kill him within 45 minutes.

9 deaths for me, 3 stacks of silvers, 2 stacks of darksteel bolts, 1 stack of squid sushi, and 1 stack of Shihe and Kirin was still at 3/4 health 3 hours into this fight and we decided to call it a night. My ranged attack with Hellfire+1 was hitting on average 35-50 with many misses. Preupdate I would hit Kirin for 110-130 and not miss.

Any good melee DD can keep up with Ranger in an exp. party and some can even do more damage than Ranger - i.e. Olsmugla (most of you know this badass Galka). DRK, SAM, THF, and DRG all have abilities that help a party more than just damage - sata, absorbs, stun, meditate for ws with multiple party members, etc. All a Ranger could do was deal damage and we were good at it.

The reason why SE really fucked up with this update is that they took away a job that was a very useful endgame job and made it almost useless now. What they should have done was make some of the other jobs more useful. DRG is no more useful, SAM is no more useful except for WS whore, DRK is still just a sub to RDM for stun.

What this boils down to is that the Rangers will be replaced by BLM and everyone else will still sit on the sideline. Hooray for SE for fucking up a perfectly good job instead of fixing the useless ones. Also, thank you SE for changing the dynamics of a job that I have been playing for over a year. Not really fun when everything you know about a job changes. If I continue to play this game it will just be to level SAM and WAR for the fun of it. Not much endgame stuff I can do now considering my next level of jobs are in the 30's.

Fuck everybody who thinks this is a good thing. 25 people in my LS were in shock lastnight from whm, bards, and blm to thf, drk, and drg and none were happy about this update because if affected them also. All the people who have been helping to get God endgame items (ie like the mages that were gonna lot on Kirin's pole) had the realization that our shell is probably gonna need an overhaul or die because we were Ranger strong and blm weak.

I am rambling but basically my point is this:
Make other jobs useful, dont fuck up the ones that are.
Foofighter

ah yeah.. i heard about you guys escaping during Kirin fight cause it was taking too long... /shrugs...

/comfort bro

it was pretty bad for us too, but we were able to manage and kill Kirin... 2hrs later   :x :(

If the encounters aren't supposed to be about stacking one job, then SE needs to fix the way mobs like Kirin work.

1) If you try to straight tank Kirin, you will die.
2) If you try to melee, you will only be able to hit when it stops running.

Of course rng and blm are going to be the most useful on Kirin because they are the only ones that can hit regardless of whether or not the mob is moving. Since Kirin runs so fast, there's no way melee will be able to keep up.

Flee 4tw!

I have it!

The ultimate solution to how they could leave the Rnger nerfed the way it is!

Ready?

Her it comes...

Almost

Make shadowbind work REALLY well. It's that simple. That would make Rangers feel important again.

on a related topic.... Anyone want to donate to the fund to help clean up the flooding from all the ranger tears in Sky?

You suck at making phunnays then.

Come on.. really... flee to catch up with a mob like Kirin just to land .. maybe a few hits, probably none since its hard as hell to actaully hit something while its moving.. I figured you'd know that was stupid. >.>;

 <-- Doesn't seem to work as intended.

I was reading through here. And I noticed someone mentioned that, why would they create different jobs, if they didn't want one to be superior or something along those lines.

Maybe it's for people who like using a Bow, a Polearm, a Scythe, or a Katana.

Maybe, it's to have fun with the weapon and abilities you like?

/shrug.

Just a thought.

In theory, there are a lot of different mobs with a lot of different weaknesses. SE made a variety of damage dealers to be able to capitalize on each type. Unfortunately, players don't want to EXP on a variety of mobs. They only want to EXP on the percieved "easiest" mobs. In an ideal world, every melee would get a day in the sun, but in reality, only melees optimal against crabs get any fun.
