Aion- discuss

Sweet! That's f'n awesome you're in KDO as well. You going to role Templar? I think I'm going to roll Assassin or Chanter. This upcoming Beta will help decide (I really hope they let us get to Sanctum).

I'm probably going to be a Sorc. I was Schneizel in the beta, waiting til the real thing to set my permanent name.

What's the difficulty of leveling like? Longer/shorter then FFXI? Longer/shorter than WoW? Expected battlegrounds for PvP other than Abyss?

No I'm running windows vista, newly installed. Any other fixes?

I get a popup box titled gameguard error with a bunch of foreign characters for the text.

Is it this Gameguard error?

Try this fix first:

Locate the NClauncher.exe, right click on it and run it as administrator. Let's see if that works.

Here are some other tips if that one doesn't work:

Typically, GameGuard errors are the result of a conflict between GameGuard and an installed security application on the PC. As a troubleshooting step, please disable all startup items to make sure that no background programs or processes are causing a conflict. To do this, please follow these instructions:

1. Press and hold the Windows key and then hit the R key. This should bring up the Run dialog box.

2. Type "MSCONFIG" without the quotes, and click "OK". This should open the System Configuration Utility.

3. Go to the "Startup" tab and click the "Disable All" button.

4. Next go to "Services" tab and check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" check box, then click the "Disable All" button.

5. Once these items are all disabled, click the "OK" button and you will get a prompt to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.

Be sure to disable the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender. This has been one of the biggest problems with customers playing the game on Windows Vista. To do this go to START > Control Panel > Firewall (Not Security Center) turn Firewall to 'Off'.

Then open Windows Defender by clicking the Start button > All Programs > Windows Defender > Tools > Options > Administrator options and scroll down to "Use Windows Defender" and un-check the box. Then click Save. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Try the game again and see if that corrects the problem. If that does not correct the issue then try going to START > Control Panel > User Accounts. Once there you will find an entry for 'User Account Controls'. Disable this and reboot the system. Then try the game again.

As that the max level I was able to get my first char (Templar) was 13 in the first closed beta, it felt about the same as FFXI. Getting to level 13 was a lot of fun via quests and some normal grinding. Level 50 is the max level right now, and from videos I've seen where the char was level 35-36, 40K exp attained from a quest made a minor dent in the level up status bar.

This gave me a similar error box only it was error 170 instead of 114. I was able to close the box and get to the account info screen though-- not sure if the error is affecting anything when I run it as an administrator.

Were you able to get to the login screen?

Ya seems to let me to login whenever I use the administrator option to launch. Good stuff thanks man.

Awesome Ana! Out of curiousity, did you go into "options" at the login screen and do an Auto Detect? What settings did it put your rig at?

Didn't do any auto detect anything, not really sure what that even means. I just right clicked the Aion application exe file and clicked run as administrator and it's working /shrug

Yeah so when you do that, the NCsoft launcher pops. It has a list of installed and not installed NCsoft apps as well as a big "PLAY NOW" button in the lower left hand corner. Click on that and it will launch the game, well up to the actual game login screen. Below the login part will be the "options" button where you can adjust graphics settings and what not. That is where you can do the auto detect.

All high with x2 anti aliasing or whatever.

when you launch Aion, are you launching from the "Aion" shortcut or going through the "NCSoft" launcher? I got an error when launching from the Aion shortcut and when I went back to the launcher it fixed itself...
