These quests are great. I really can't complain. I played other korean mmo's and while the collection quests started out collecting small numbers it eventually grew to extremely tedious and time consuming amounts of items.
As long as I played Aion, there wasn't anything that exceeded the limit of 10, which doesn't take that long to do.
And seriously,... you're seriously complaining about birds you had to kill for a whooping 2 separate quests (as an Asmodian, but likely only 2 quests as a Elyos)?? That's pretty sad. Jesus, I guess you'd be shitting bricks once you got to the Mumu (as Asmodian). You fight a lot of them since a certain tribe is aggressive towards Asmodians. All of the quests were great to do the first time around, I read each one and enjoyed the little storylines that build up around them.
My second time through though, I didn't bother re-reading quests I had already done. Found out there was some quests I missed out on my first time around as well.
Anyway, I'm too tired right now to continue with any kind of argument beyond what I already stared. Maybe tomorrow. x.x
First off, boring does not equal difficult. I know the quests were easy and were often conveniently located near other mobs you needed for other quests. That was nice that they made everything near each other, good for NCsoft. However, that does not mean that they could not be considered boring.
Second, if you compare something to terrible games, of course it's not going to seem that bad. However, I expect a game that costs $50 at launch plus another $15 a month to be miles better than a free Korean botfest.
I don't have much of a problem with it being the same old blah kill/collect quests. Just make it killing birds and then tigers. Or birds but then bigger birds, like an ostrich or something. It's not like it was a storyline quest about a specific group, like the spies that were outside the Elyos town and later at the farm. Those particular mobs were supposed to look the same and I have no problem with that.
If you like, I can instead complain about the lack of group quests and low-level dungeons and pvp content. Why should I have to grind out 25 levels just to PvP and another five or so on top of that just for the first instance? The first ten levels are fine, but once you recover your memory and ascend, the game should start. Not another fifteen levels later on. Especially when the cap is only 50 (no, I'm not complaining about the cap itself, just that out of fifty levels, the first thirty have no dungeons).
Oh, there's also the fact that the leveling is incredibly linear so far. You have to do the same exact quests in the same exact zones for each and every alt, yippee!
The lore behind flying involves Daeva's needing the presence of Aether to actually remain in flight. Many zones are devoid of Aether for various reasons-- the split of the world, etc. Thus, you are not able to fly everywhere.
I do agree that many of the quests are kind of blah though.
I thought you can gather aether everywhere? At least when I was running around collecting silver for one quest, it wasn't leveling the same gathering skill I had 1-10, it was some new fancy one. Either way, it's still kind of lame that they hype up the flight but hardly let you use it. Any ideas if the higher level zones allow a lot more flight? The world just seemed so constricted from what I saw. The scenery off in the distance was so pretty, but you couldn't explore any of it!
