Anime Watchers Thread

torrentspy.com and isohunt.com are the two resources I use to find anything I want to download (only anime I don't have the IRC channel or website of the release group, or they don't have either/or).

Im having a pretty hard time finding any info on 2 Anime series. I was wondering if anyone knoew where to get copies or torrents or anything:

Daa! daa! daa!

both are late 90's anime series and are supposed to be very good, albeit very rare. :/ any info will be appreciated.

boxtorrents have both series

if you give me a PM. we can setup a time if you want the torrent files

*casts raise* *thread looses some exp*

I watched 12 episodes of Black Lagoon recently and I must say it isn't bad. I won't deem it the best thing ever but it is very watchable.

Just finished skimming through this thread, quite interesting. I love anime myself and do tend to watch quite a bit. What im surprised is that noone's mentioned some classics, and theres still a lot of anime that I've watched that were pretty good and/or interesting. So here goes:

Hellsing - How the heck can you have an anime thread without Hellsing being mentioned?! Its like, right up there with Trigun on awesomeness and having been around for a long time (read: Classic). Basically, if you like vampires, blood, and bullets plus some good action. This anime is win.

.Hack//Sign - Ah.. .Hack <3 Some people love it, some people hate it. I really love it, part of the whole .Hack experience (Video game/Anime/Manga) that was brilliantly executed. The anime follows events of players roughly a year before the events in the original video game series of .Hack. (I dont remember the exactness of the timetables, but its something like that. I'd have to look it up) Fun characters, the anime isnt hugely action or anything, its mostly intellectual (? I guess you could call it that) and about people playing a MMO that has serious and dangerous problems.

Blue Seed - I loved this anime, its actually kind of old but the characters and storyline is pure awesome. I highly suggest if anyone enjoyed the better parts of Evangelion to definately watch this anime. Its like Eva, only without the shitty stuff at the end because of budget delays (in awesomeness factor and artist style, not storyline).

EscaFlowne - Fantasy anime with giant mecha's, yup. And a pretty damn intriguing storyline to boot. I highly enjoyed watching this anime series.

Witch Hunter Robin - Its uh.. anime about a group that hunts witches, and uses a witch to hunt witches. Did I mention it kicks a lot of ass? Very sweet action sequences and a highly entertaining and interesting storyline & characters. Another one of my favorites.

The Twelve Kingdoms - Very interesting story, I havent even watched all of it. (its a pretty long anime) but I own the first 5 dvds and wish I had the rest of them. (they're hard for me to find anywhere). A very interesting and seemingly original storyline, and mythology. It's a fantasy anime, but it definately gripped my interests right away. The main character of the first part of it is a girl, and she becomes quite a badass chick. (no, she doesnt start out very remarkable) Anyway, I give it a huge thumbs up!

Fushigi Yugi (The Mysterious Play) - Classic anime and storytelling at it's best. It has action, tons of highly engaging characters, a love story, a story of friends, courage,... well i could spout off tons of other details too. This anime is great storytelling. I've been told by one of my friends (a girl) that she thinks its kind of girly, but it was one of the earlier anime's I ever watched. And to be honest I still love it today. One of my personal Favs!

The Slayers (this incorperates anyone one or all three of the seasons)- Another classic anime, fantasy themed and god damn funny too. Definately a must watch.

Tenchi Muyo - Awesome fantasy anime, with sci-fi themes too. There are Three (well technically 5) different Tenchi series's. (But I dont really count GPX, and I have yet to watch Here comes the Bride unfortunately) All three rock and yet, they are all different storylines, and for the most part dont relate at all accept that the characters and sometimes the relationships between characters stay the same. Great stuff though anyway you look at it. Plus.. eh its another classic anime.

Bastard! - Fucking Win. That is all.

Trinity Blood - Fairly new anime, it's still in the dubbing process (english), but so far dvds 1-5 are in stores. I love this anime though, seems to have a great story (extremely reminiscent of Trigun & Kenshin), and great characters. Fantasy ish, and modern kinda too. Vampires, technology. Its Mmm-mmm good. Sure, there's some religious stuff too and all... but that extremely easy to look past and enjoy the anime for what it is. So far its highly entertaining.

And that my friends, is my two cents.

Anyone have a torrent for One Piece 251-300? I'm on 235 and i can't find any torrents. ><

I found a website about a week ago that I've been using to read up on a few series that I can't find anymore, mainly Tenjou Tenge. It's anime selection is a little limited, but it's got a ton of manga. To watch the videos, it takes a free registration, but that's next to nothing.

http://www.animemangafun.com/

Edit: since reviews seem to be the big thing, I'll post my thoughts on Tenjou Tenge. It's an action series, lots of martial arts with super powers and with explanations of those powers. One of the good guys uses Capoera, another can turn her body to chibi-size to control her strength, one of the bad guys uses fire; so there's some cool stuff. Oh, there's some nudity too, so probably best to not read it around kids. It's a good series, great action, sexy schoolgirls that make me WISH I went to school there, and pretty funny.

Kinds give you an example of what I'm talking about, made them URL's to so people won't whine that I'm posting something inappropriate. The woman does talk like an old guy, think kaede from Inuyasha, just lots of older language. Oh, and read right to left.

So, I finished Stand Alone Complex: Second GiG today. Better than the first. Anyone know if there's gonna be a third season? I keep hearing about this "Solid State Society" but i think its just the put-together off all the Goda and Kuse episodes.

flame of recca is a great anime but unfortunatly they never finished it so you have to read the rest in the manga (I think they finished the manga...i didn't read it tbh).

slight derail

Naruto fans: Does anyone know the name of the song for the opening music where Sasuke and Naruto are fighting and Shikamaru, Neji, Kiba, Chouji are on the mission to rescue sasuke? It also shows Orochimaru's Guard(his 4 henchmen that die to the team) and the ending song as well when the show goes off?

thanks

on topic: wow I thought I knew a lot of anime but most of these mentioned I've never heard of o.0

Solid State Society was a movie that aired on Japanese (I want to say something like satellite or digital cable) TV. AFAIK, it's a new SAC story.

Found the cover, and judging by that, its just the major episodes of Second GiG.

My favorite series is definitely Rurouni Kenshin.
Awesome series, lots of humor, etc.

Second favorite is a classic/staple: Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I downloaded solid state society, and from the description I read, it was a movie after the second season. They made mention of the Major leaving section 9 before the movie started and I don't remember that in the series at all. I haven't watched it yet(friend got me hooked on death note), but eventually I will.

Rinoah, Flame of Recca was a great series; in some ways it's almost the predecessor of Naruto. The main characters are ninjas and everyone has cool powers(although these are from magical weapons); but there's almost no actual ninja-esque actions, they fight out in the open and the only subterfuge is their moves. The anime cut off about halfway through the manga and drew everything to a close really quickly, but it was still enjoyable.

I'll wait for a dub on it then. I've watched the whole series in dub so far and its done rather well.

Also, i'm inexplicibly drawn to the Intro to Second GiG <,<

Yeah, Rise is much win, I downloaded the SAC openings and endings to my ipod.

(all anime found on Torrentspy)

The lack of Saikano in this thread disturbs me. Saddest anime ever. Seriously, go see it.

Gungrave is another good one, for different reasons. Kinda like cowboy bebop... Mafia drama sorta thing, one of the best. Very good plot.

Rah Xephon: Too much like Evangelion for my tastes, but still quite good. Prettymuch Evangelion with 99% less fanservice. If you didn't like how emo Shinji was, but liked the Eva concept, try this.

Haibane Renamei: It's kinda like Azumanga Daioh, without the over-the-top comedy. With angels as the main characters. Written by the guy who did Lain, so expect a strange and convoluted plot at the end.

Najica Blitz Tactics: Female James Bond with a panty-shots-per-episode count in the hundreds. Actually manages to squeeze a plot in between the white cloth. More panty shots.

Rozen Maiden: DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU DESU C'mon, it's where desu-spam came from. Surely you're curious. Child dolls with magical powers, amusingly emo main character.

Shakugan no Shana: By the makers of Haruhi. Pedolicious main character with a big katana. Nothing particularly special, but it's a good action show. And Shana-chan is hot.

Scrapped Princess: Girl travels land with fighter and wizard guardians, prophecy says she will destroy the world on her next birthday, everybody's out to kill her, explosions and fancy swordplay follow. Upbeat show, all things considered.

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan: A picture is worth a thousand words:

Previously mentioned shows, quoted for awsome:

Serial Experiments Lain

Ghost in the Shell (any)

Death Note

Bleach

Excel Saga / Puni Puni Poemy

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (yes, the episodes are supposed to be out of order)

Cowboy Bebop

Azumanga Daioh

FLCL

Elfen Lied... wait, nobody's actually said anything about Elfen Lied? Violence, lots of violence. Cute girls with tiny horns on their head use invisible arms to rip people to shreads, one escapes from the research facility and gets to the mainland, changes personality 180 degrees to hide with this kid. Go watch it, it's good. Also the source of Nana's Everyday Life.
