Another Crappy RDM Topic

If you're a monk and you're asking for haste pre-cannon days... You're just asking to die, or asking your WHM to just piss his/her MP all over you. Either that, or you're incredibly gimp!

R Kelly?

I'm bored. -.-

What's a huge pain is when you're in a roam pt and everyone expects you to have regen and haste covered even when you're at low Mp. Man that pisses me off.

I dunno why, but I always found it easier to keep a party alive as WHM then RDM. Even without anyone else refreshing me, I've always found it easier to do as WHM. WHM have Regen III, more effective bar-spells, Shellra IV, Protectra IV etc. that just saves a lot of MP. RDM on the other hand have refresh and convert. Maybe my parties just usually suck as RDM, but I've always found it easier to do as WHM =/

I've had a lot of shitty roam pts as Whm. The DDs are ALWAYS taking dmg so i'm spaming Cure V. Yet the expect me to keep Haste and Regen on 5 Melee. This has to be the main reason i just stopped Lvling Whm.

Accually, I have to agree with you on this. Now I don't want to go on an ego boost here but I have been complimented several times in merit parties on my whm. There have been many times where my party will say things like:

"Wow you hold up your MP better than a rdm"

or

"This is a lot eaiser with a whm" etc

This suprised me accually. I always though it would be a lot eaiser with a rdm since they can self refresh and convert. I won't lie, it's a little demanding on WHM to supply your melee with what they want, but hey, I love every second of it. Regen III helps so much. Even w/o refresh my merit parties are usually fine with hastes & regens to keep em going. With smn sub, briault and sanction it's like having refresh w/o the rdm :)

And resting mp food is best too like mushroom stews <3

This is probably due to the fact that as WHM, you have more opportunities to rest your MP back because you can get away with Cure Vs and Regens which give you more time to rest in between. Where as as RDM, you're constantly on your feet.

you shouldn't wait untill you can Cure V though. My Cure V's cure for over 900 without light/weather effects. So to get the most out of my Cure V's, I need to wait untill a melee have about 200 HP left. An unresisted fire spit will kill them in this case. Thus, its usually best to keep their HP rather high and let Regen III and Regen II take care of the rest.

And yes, auto refresh from body, summoner sub and sanction <3 :D

RDM CAN keep up with WHM in cannon parties, the problem is (from what I've seen when cannoning on BST or paired with RDM on my WHM [bleh]) is that they spend a dumb amount of MP nuking/enfeebling mobs that wind up dying within 20s anyways. If they didn't throw away MP on junk like that, they'd be able to keep up.

WHMs are better suited for merit cannons with sanction auto-refresh for a couple of reasons...
The only enfeeble you're using is dia2. RDMs high enfeebling magic makes no difference whatsoever.
Divine Veil even if every 10 minutes saves chains. (sup paralyzega)
Cure V can be used effectively even if not for the max amount of hp. The casting of Cure V in most circumstances will allow you to rest right after. 2 consecutive Cure IV's not only burns MP, but also time you could be resting.
Also, some melee can have 550-600hp with 900 of their HP gone. The only time you should be Extremely aware of keeping someone at full hp is if they have hp latent gear, ie unicorn gear.
WHMs can sub BLM, RDM MUST sub WHM to be effective. In a constant spamming of mp, Conserve MP makes a huge difference.
BRDs have spells as well, and can use them. Quick pulls every now and then with diaII that a WHM sees buys the WHM a couple extra seconds to rest. BRDs that help out with cures when not song casting can help both a rdm or a whm main heal.
Eat cookies. Sweet tooth whms will succeed without a problem.
Truth is, both can do it, but a WHM is specifically built for it. Especially when you have the ability to time a Curaga III or IV to land right as the mob is defeated on a tough fight, then drop down and get the mp back.

its not that I can't. Hell, I do it all the time. its just that I find it easier as WHM.

True. Although I don't like keeping someone at low HP due to unforseen things that might happen. Like a double attack, critical hit, followed by a high-damaging WS.

However, due to being an elvaan, I hate overcuring. Thus I rarely waste more MP then is really needed, which is why most of the time I cure them only enough so that Regen II or III can take care of the rest. This is the reason I'm a MND whore, too.

Yea, alot of it is just familiarity with who you're partying with. A recommendation to melee is to only use :Ichi when possible, you pull hate, recast :ichi even if it over-writes. Using :Ni for emergencies to pull up shadows helps quite a bit. Kinda off-track because thats more with melee then magery, but yea, it saves your ass on Mamools. Not everyone needs to do this, but if you're handling a consistant amount of the hate focus, its very helpful.

Understandable on the Elvaan mp thing...34WHM with +enmity and +hp merits lfp...

This has to be said. Journeybell worse fucking RDM of all time. I don't care what you say she is. She never refreshed never enfeebled never tossed a heal when she could. I got kicked out of the party for being mean to a EXTREMELY crappy RDM and telling her she needed to go back and relevel RDM. To think I got called a crappy Paladin when I was doing my job with out the assist of her refresh. I guess go auto-refresh and ToAU refresh. She then blamed her crappiness on lag and her processor/video card sucking. If her processor/video card sucked at an empty camp how could she run FFXI in Jeuno pre-ToAU?

Damn I hate idiots that get 65+ by leveling band wagon jobs. Sorry had to contradict OP also IBTL.

you talking 4 refresh from whm&brd (5 if they have nobles) to a waping 7 for a rdm&brd (8-9 if have refresh peices). rdm have dia III whm have only dia II(weaker at that). Unless something go horrid wrong a rdm would never even have to rest never long "waste time" not resting. Hell I even throw para II or slow II on mobs and still be able to heal efficently. There is the one point though the "paralyzna" which make whm better at those points. Personally my favorite partys are the whm+rdm+brd+war+dd+mnk party on the north side of mamool stag point area. tear through mobs faster then fat kid running after a chicken leg.

Dia III is unneeded, as is the additional mage. Dia III is a stronger dia effect, but never will make up for another DD in a cannon. The main purpose of a Dia III effect is for an HNM that may need to be slept imo, as it wears off in 30 seconds every time.
The North side in Mamool is where we hit our largest chain with a WHM/BRD combo, everyone seems to "think" they can party there, so its always used...no matter what the party setup. Just because you "think" you're 'tearing' through the mobs doesn't mean you should be using that camp. Its similar to pre-ToA when some people 'thought' they could properly use the Aura weapon camp...
Para/Slow II are a waste in a cannon, if you're using these and they're beneficial then the mob isn't being killed quickly enough, and as I said, you should have the mage slot filled with another DD.

as far as i know a blu can give itself auto-refresh after useing a series spells in a certain order and combo also they can get MAB and other stats from certain spell combos

Thank you for that horrible, horrible irrelevance.
