OMG You weren't online when I bought mine!! 2 mil? Dang I shoulda bought it from you.

But yea, DD's (I count BLM in that because they deal damage...) don't need refresh as much as the healer and tank.

Give SMNs a AoE Refreshga. Make it with Levi. He does have some Healing spells. I mean they gave Garuda Hastega.

You always refresh yourself first to know when it is going to wear on everyone else.

QFT. using yourself as a timer is fullproof.

much agreed with zaltana and neyla

but blms for the most I've pted with are very wise about conserving mp or...

its their job trait but I'd rather attribute that to their skill as a black mage player (yes thats a compliment, but I'll still kill you...)

BLMs shouldn't worry about conserving MP, it takes me just over a minute to get to an acceptable MP level. Plus, you shouldn't be partying with a BLM post 70, they should be in Mount Zhayolm earning their rights to the job.

party dinamics for the lower lvls are getting more and more off the wall. and honestly when did rdms take over a whm's job. i cant go anywhere with people asking for the rdm to main heal. while it a well established fact that it can be done, i just think that the newer players are looking at higher lvl parties and gettin the wrong idea. running into a 60 someting rdm that has element & enfeeb magic UNCAPPED is a travisty. and when you ask why you get: "my parties only wanted me to main heal." this makes me happy i lvled rdm when i did.

unfortunately I'm not 70+ @_@....

I never, ever, ever had a refresh order. I just went down my PT list. I would refresh me, and then just go down the list. Everyone would be covered and I didn't have to remember who was who in the PT.

I just used the F2-6 keys to select person below me with an MP gage (unless it was a DRK and they sucked, in which case they always had MP).

I use this strategy in a tight pinch, or during one off fights when I can't be bothered to put some effort into looking at people's jobs and mapping out a refresh order in my mind.

But, since most Merit partys are built on mindless repetative combinations of keypresses, I find it easy to zone out while doing my refresh cycle, keeps me from going insane by looking at my refresh & haste timers slowly count down.

I remember doing Prommy Vahzl with Oliveman, I was in a alliance because my party completed the mission so I was watching the other party to see how they were doing during the fight. The hp of a few people were going down alot and the whm ran out of mp, I remember them saying all the mages had no mp and oliveman still had almost 300 mp.

It was pretty sad because just a few cures from him would of won the mission, they were on the last mob and had it almost killed. They said he just melee'd the whole fight, which he did the whole way up the spire only casting haste and refresh a few times.

Who doesn't zone out when they play RDM? Haha

Freaks!

I'm usually watching a movie while playing my RDM, or I'll pickup my PS2 controller and kill a few innocent bystanders on GTA while resting. Thank god I'm able to, I'd hate to be completely compos mentis while playing RDM, it'd drive me mad!

Wouldn't blu be slightly higher than blm on the refresh chain? In most cases, a blm can rest between casts. A blu can't.

I'm not a rdm, so I don't know for sure, but this just seems logical to me.

I actually had a merit party last week where a rdm wouldn't even refresh me. He'd do himself, the whm, and then sit down. I spent a few minutes at 50ish mp before I finally spoke up. Probably didn't realize I was a blu, but damn that refresh order.

And I had one merit party last week with a blm in it. He'd cast possibly one spell per fight. I on the other hand, would blow through quite a bit on headbutt, disseverment, and hysteric barrage. And there was no resting for me. So in that case, it seems blu should positively be higher up on the chain.

Or are you guys entirely talking about refresh orders sub 70?

lol yea i agree Pakomen ;D, 70% of my party with a rdm, the rdm refused/forgot/or whatver reason to NOT refresh my BLU. So when i'm down on mp, i just walk back and rest to full mp while the party goes "Huh?! OMG {Insert the name of monster here} on crack!" and ended up taking more time to kill it (normally 2 times longer).

However, before i lvl BLU, i tend to put them pretty low in my refresh order till i played it... m(_ _)m Apology for any BLU that i forgot to Refresh..
BLU is now top in my refresh order after tank and healer ;) , assuming the BLU actually knows how to use the mp :p

I've never partied with a BLU, but yeah they'd go higher on the Refresh order than a BLM since BLMs spend so much time on their asses and only cast a few spells a fight. The dominant Refresh order you've seen mentioned in this thread (RDM>PLD>WHM/SMN>BLM>other) is old school, pre-ToAU.

Refresh order is dependent on the party setup.
Usual:
Self (have to have a consistent mp pool to keep doing it) --> tank/healer --> everyone else that needs mp. Rinse and repeat.

It really depends on how the tank and healer act as to who comes first.

Whoever sits on their mp usually gets refresh after the other. If a PLD sits on their mp, the healer gets refresh first. If the healer is not being efficient and/or sitting on their mp, the tank gets it first.

In most cases, BLU before BLM. If the BLM is chain casting spells, then there is a problem or a dead BLM.

As a RDM, it is hard to focus on the entire job parts being the only healer/debuffer/enfeebler/buffs/other in a party. Focus on the party’s setup and then execute from there. While taking on the main healer job, perhaps ask another job that can enfeeble to do a few of those to keep the entire group’s mp pool stable.

Yes Pakomen is correct Blue mages have the same mp pool as red mages natively without spells that increase mp equipped(which is usually +5 or +10) and dont have conserve mp for awhile(fairly sure they have it).

They also solo self scs which do take some magic and since there is more gear available for the other mage jobs due to "senority" in a sense it would be wiser to refresh the blue mage first if he/she can do his job
