Another Crappy RDM Topic

Neya may have been bad at her job but instead of saying she'll work to get better she quit. That doesn't say much about her even trying.

Personally, if it weren't for the people that I have met in game that I am lucky enough to be able to call friends, I would have already quit myself. The reason? Stupid assholes that live for the flameboard.

Choosing to quit the game because the server has a large population of assholes has absolutly nothing to do with skill.

Fixed that for you.

Not to mention, just because someone's an asshole doesn't mean they're wrong. If you screw up, you're not suddenly innocent because someone else isn't *nice* about the way they respond to the screw-up.

Actually, it does make them wrong. Criticizim comes in 2 forms, constructive and destructive. If your goal is to help the person in question be better at what you percieve that they are doing wrong, then you can never meet your goal by using the flameboard. There is no such thing as constuctive criticizm here.

You don't build a house by taking a sledge hammer to the walls, and you don't correct an error by tearing a person down on a public forum.

If you screw up, you are human. You can accept a mistake as a mistake, or you can be a big baby and bitch about it. I'd rather play with people accepting of my mistakes than someone who has anger issues and blows up because they think they could get 500 more xp an hour if the rdm would "do her job".

You guys need to find somehing better to do than bitch about a player who is good instead of perfect.

There's a difference between "bitching" about a player who's good instead of perfect, and "bitching" about a player who is just plain bad.

Have you partied with Neya?

No, I have no personal involvement in this thread, I'm pointing out to you what the other side is arguing for.

No need to play devils advocate when the devil (iguratively speaking, not calling anyone satan) started the topic.

I'm just pointing out that I know neya and I have partied with her. She isn't perfect, but she is a decent player. It's actually quite obvious snice less people than I can count on one hand have taken the time to join in the flame. Most of them (all but 1?) are only doing so based on the what the OP said.

Oh, and Neya, if you are reading this, yer not allowed to quit.

Sometimes people are so set in their ways that it takes a bit of a shock (such as, say, being flamed) in order to get them to open their eyes and even *consider* improving. So often when experienced people try to be nice about offering suggestions to people "playing badly", the person being given the advice is so (falsely) self-assured that they were good in the first place, that they ignore it.

Or they think that since only this one person actually said anything, and none of their other parties did, that the one person is just extra fussy and everyone else was fine with it. When it's entirely possible all their other parties hated every minute of it too, but simply didn't want to make a scene given how, as I said above, it's so often futile to try to give advice. This is especially true with "princess jobs".

(Of course, it's also possible that one person *is* simply being overly critical. Nevertheless, it's better to err on the side of listening to criticism and thinking for yourself about whether it makes sense, than writing it off thinking you know better.)

I have never partied with Neya. I do not know how much of the above applies to this particular situation. But I do know that it's applied to a lot of people in a lot of situations, which is why kind and gentle advice-giving isn't really tried much any more, and people skip straight to flaming. Because at least if you get flamed, and then a dozen other people jump in and also go "yeah, they sucked in my party too", it's a wake-up call.

For some people, who are nice and sensitive and whatnot? Yeah, it's probably overkill, the gentle advice would've worked in the first place if anyone had tried, but nobody did because on 95%+ of the crappy players, they just don't listen. All the same, it's one thing to be sensitive and be extra hurt, and another thing to be all attention-seeking and guilt-tripping and go "I'm gonna quit the game because you publicly made fun of me". It's called having a thick skin, and whether in game or in RL, it's damn helpful to develop one rather than throwing in the towel at the first sign of adversity.

If she really wanted to stick it to all the people calling her crappy, she would've put her nose to the grindstone, found out exactly what it meant to be an awesome RDM, improved her play skill and done exactly that, and then rubbed everyone's noses in it. Of *course* nobody starts out being great at the job. Just because she's gotten that far without improvement, doesn't mean she can't improve in future if she actually tries rather than quits. In contrast, quitting won't really make her feel better, and it won't prove any of those mean flameboard people wrong either.

And that is about the nicest and most constructive way I can put it, while still being honest and blunt enough to be critical.

can't belive im going use this line... She is just a kid
she most likely took game to seriously and now has her cloud busted because see is a bad rdm. This being said if see does continue to play I don't think she should play anouther job, but finding a mentor might be needed to show her the ropes.

Alot of people on this game are assholes but if you can't get passed the bad you will never see the good.

If it wasn't for the assholes i met in this game i would have never met the much nicer people. Assholes will always be on the internet. If you can't take a few assholes on a stupid internet forum then you will never make it in the real world where the assholes will/can do a lot worse.

So what if a few people on this forum think you suck. Instead of crying about it show them up. Be the best at the job. Make them eat their words.

One thing that pisses me off is that if a group of people are overly kind to someone they are called carebears. If someone is being mean they are assholes. There is no middle. It's fucking retarded.

I've never pt'd with Neya. I don't care if she sucks at her job. It's the fact that she doesn't show any mindset to get better. If she asked for help, used those leasons in a pt, proved to everyone she is good, i'm sure everyone would be nice to her.

We all sucked at our job at one point or another but we showed the drive to get better. We didn't quit cause the going got tough.

I guess if Neya or other "Bad" RDM willing to learn from their so-called mistake, it would be great by having someone telling them nicely why they shouldn't do that.

Like meleeing in party is bad because:
1. Chances are you can't concentrate on your original job, buff, debuff, heal etc
2. Your Weak sword skill and str are not doing enough damage to have any contribution and you are feeding the mobs with tp, so the monster can kill your tank etc

Personally i love helping new RDM with what you should do and shouldn't do in general and tell them why etc. But if the RDM not willing to learn then.. meh =_=; I'm a big newb once when i play this game and i do admit at some point of the game i sucks at my job but i'm open to suggestion even till now.

So.. Neya.. you can look at this thread as flame or a sign for you to improve and go on. Personally, i would try to improve even if the racist JP sux in this game (damn those JP ; ; never invite me when i'm on T.T *End short rants*)

If you would want some suggestion or question to ask look for me, i wouldn't mind to help you with my experience (not always good suggestion but you could ask others too). Peace out ^^v and don't quit over these ;)

How come everyone keeps calling her a kid, she was like 17 two years ago and now all of a sudden she is a kid, so she is like 19 now.

Hellstorm after trying to read this post, i'd seriously recommend you purchase this product.
