It's called context. Read what i quoted. Then read my response again only this time take it in context.
After that sit and roll over, i'll dig up a cookie.
You'll pardon me if i took the ley way out. To the average american 'western ideology' is freedom, apple pie, and guns in the closet. We're not a smart or civilized people by a longshot and don't really have much business telling everyone else how bad their shit stinks for multiple reasons that are too numerous to list.
Hey to the average american, I'm filled with sarcasm. ^.-
Well maybe the above average american...
I still don't think freedom has anything to do with western idiology though. That is only from the parts of our country the rest of the world hates and we are ashamed of. I can travel the world and tell people I'm a Californian and everyone will want to be my friend. Everyone loves Californians in the rest of the world. That can't be said about the rest of the states in our union. Not that some places aren't nice, but EVERYONE loves Californians in other countries. Be it because they think we are all next door neighbors to their favorite movie stars, or because they know we have the best weather... I get the craziest questions from people when I visit other countries.
If we weren't spreading the worst parts of western idiology when we go places, we just might be welcome with open arms. I know I've always been. We need to stop "liberating" people. How can we expect people to appreciate something they didn't have to fight for the same way we did? And we really are showing them how much of a failure our freedom is currently with this administration.
US: You can be like us and have a democracy with freedom of expression.
World: Naw, thats cool, this conversation isn't being wire tapped is it?
US: As a matter of security it is?
World: Well our laws don't allow people to be recorded against their wishes.
US: Too fuckin bad!!! I gots me some freedom bitches!
World: I can't imagine people in your country would be ok with that...
US: Well they got so scared we drafted something up and told them everything would be OK if they just signed it.
World: And they didn't read it and vote it down?
US: They had the freedom to, but freedom prevailed yet again, and most of the people that would have turned it down took a sick day to cower in fear.
World: Well people have to have read it now and want it stopped...
US: Fuck em!
As our freedoms are currently in sharp decline, we are the last people who should be fighting for other peoples. And it starts off pretty badly by not recognising their right to their current form of government. Democracy doesn't work in that culture. Maybe someday, but not today. We need to stop trying to ram these square pegs into our round holes. I don't think they like it when we take it upon ourselves to shave off their edges.
I just totally went off on a mad tangent...... sorry. ; ;
