Holy fuck how can ants be so god damn annoying?!?!?!?!? I have a huge ant problem in my room, how the fuck do i get rid of them. Ive tried raid, Ive cleaned up the area spotless everyday (THERE IS NO FOOD FOR THESE LITTLE BASTARDS), they come back every morning in full force with twice as many as before its like there trying to raid my room and pillage it or something any one have ANY ideas how to kill these little bastards

Oh god I hate ants... I have no advice for ya tho. I remember when our school's library had an ant problem... Loads of year 7 nerds screaming was hilar!

I used those raid ant traps. Seemed to work for me.

yeah man, baited traps are the way to go. just stick 2 in the middle of the pathway and they'll be done in the morning usually. If they don't leave the first time the second time around should clear em out. Just got rid of some in my apartment.

me and my room mates used those but to no avail, there like super smart, there queen just keeps poppin them out they are so bad around our dorms :( we actualy walked around with a can of raid and spraid every ant hole we could find

Dorms? That shit needs to be taken up with the RA and the Dean, there's a higher authority going on at this point if they're that bad.

the bait traps are ok, but if you have a serious problem, sometimes its best to get a professional to come spray..

there not college dorms there military dorms my friend

1) Call Civil Engineering and see if they have any problems with you taking care of them. The threat of an Airman using gasoline and matches should be more than enough to get them out there to take care of that.

2) If they actually say "sure, go for it," well, get out the gasoline and matches. Flood anthill, light match.*

*Seriously, don't do this. Have CE call the exterminators.

Even if there's no food, ants will still come in for water.

Best way to kill them is with boric acid. Just do a google search for "boric acid ant bait" and you'll get a whole slew of recipes. Boric acid is readily available for cheap at any pharmacy or hardware store, it's a relatively harmless white powder (don't eat it though, heh). What you do is mix the boric acid in with sugar water or peanut butter (depending on whether you have sugar ants or grease ants) and set the bait out for the ants. The ants will find it and swarm it, leave them alone. What they're doing is taking the sweet, sweet poison back in small quantities, and feeding it to their queen. Eventually, after about 24 hours, the poison levels will build up in their little bodies so it wipes out the whole colony, queen and all. You'll know when that happens, because the bait that was previously the ant version of Old Country Buffet will become totally empty. No more ant problem (well, at least not until another colony moves in a couple months later and you have to repeat the process).

Yeah I've heard about using that, I remember someone saying you get the same effect with most kitchen cleaners for the poison and I know instead of sugar water you can substitute Diet 7up or Sprite, has to be diet though, something about the artificial sweetener used in those.

They are going NUTS for my mountain dew cans i had one can left on the table for 5 minutes and it was seriously COVERED in a matter of 5 minutes there was a huge trail ... i don't know what else to do i'm going nuts i need to kill these fuckers nowwwww

That's pretty brutal.

Mountain Dew (hell any pop/soda/etc.) is notorious for having high amounts of sugar in it that ants LOVE. I'd try the boric acid; slowly kill them with that. If that doesn't work, I'd go with Celv's suggestion of calling CE and having an exterminator come out.

im going to try and do it tommorow after work, im going to lul in there face as they die :D i hate ants/insects/arachnids/Bugs in general..... stupid ants

Best thing to do, handling any pest problem is call an exterminator to get it gassed out.

It's highly deadly to insects but non toxic to human and will fill every crevice possible.

However since you're residing in dorms, I'm not sure what conditions you must meet or follow...

Good luck.

Making the area spotless every day is meaningless. You need to erase the scent trace.

When an ant finds something of interest, they place a scent trace which the other ants can follow. If you then make the area spotless, the scent trace is still there, which will cause other ants to arrive.

Either way, ants usually invade your house during the winter, and goes back outside during the summer. I have an ant problem every year, but I usually just ignore them. Can be rather fun to crush the little bastards when you're bored.
